HBC's Original Rules:
Rules for the Arena:
1. Follow the rules set by the event starter.
2. Each character may only attend one event at any given time. Only one character per member(You may only use one slot). No unapproved characters.
3. All forum rules apply, including the three-post limit.
4. NPC characters are not allowed, unless said character is vital to yours. Animal partners are not allowed unless every participant has one. Magic may only be used if the event creator says so, or you choose it as your main weapon(See: 'Free-for-all' below)
5. In the first post of an event, please specify the rules and instructions of the event.
6. Events in the RP do not affect your character in the Arena, and vice versa. Your character getting stabbed in the RP does not give him a stab wound in the arena, and if your character is disemboweled in the arena he will not get disemboweled in the RP.
7. Free-for-all event topics created by Falc and I are, for lack of a better term, 'Ranked' events. The winner of these will get a win on that character's record. Events created by members are for fun.
8. All 1-on-1 events go on the character's record.
9: When creating an arena topic, please follow these formats;
Free-for-all format: Free-for-all Event: ________(e.g. Need Companions or Bloodthirsty Maniacs!)
1-on-1: 1-on-1 Event: (Character Name) VS (Character Name)
Challenges can be proposed and accepted in the Challenges thread.
Free-for-all style:
In the free-for-all style, at least 4 characters are put into an arena constructed from nine of the available 'set pieces(See 'Set Pieces' topic)'. There is no limit to participants, but there is a small application required for use upon sign-up.
How this works is your character gets to keep one of their weapons and the others are in the center of the arena. Magic, if not kept, cannot be found or used. Weapons such as dual swords, sword and shield, CANNOT be kept as a set! A set can only be kept if one does not function without the other(Bow and arrow, and a maximum of two throwing weapons). Along with discarded items, there will be basic weapons as well.
You can carry as much equipment as is reasonable, meaning having five spears, a bow and arrow and two swords is not reasonable. A bow and arrow, shield and sword, however is. You are all capable RPers and we are trusting you to keep this in mind.
Damage Calculation Method: We're trusting you guys on this one. Each character has 10 health points. If your character is attacked, flip a coin and choose heads or tails before flipping. This is your side. If you choose heads and it lands heads up, the attack is a hit. If it is heads down, the attack is a miss.
CRITICAL HITS: If your attack is a hit, use this site: http://www.random.org/ and generate a random number between a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 4. After choosing a number between 1 and 4. If the number displayed is the number you chose, it is a CRITICAL HIT and subtracts 2 points. If not, it is a regular attack and subtracts one point.
Important Note: If you do not trust the person who you are interacting with, ask someone who would be indifferent on the topic, such as the overseer of the match to do it for you.
1-on-1 Style:
In the 1-on-1 style, two characters are in a small arena with all
weapons and equipment. They then duel to the death. Again, you are all capable RPers so I trust you will play this well.
Damage Calculation Method: Your choice. Do what you and your opponent find best for 1-on-1.
