  • Kujo Akakishi

    Name:
    Kujo Akakishi

    Gender:
    Male

    Race:
    Sheikah

    Age:
    32 (born 58 ATR)

    Occupation:
    Guard of the village elder

    Appearance:
Kujo has the typical red eyes of the Sheikah, he has white/silver hair put up in a short ponytail and he's got some stubble on his chin. There are two red horisontal lines tattooed underneath each of his eyes and he has a very well trained body (not like a bodybuilder but like someone who has spent many years mastering various combat techniques). He stands tall at 183 cm (6'0"), weighs 82 kg (181 lbs) and usually wears a black yukata.

    Equipment:
    - Eightfold Longblade
    - Phrenic Bow with arrows
    - Dagger
    - Grappling Hook
    - Lantern with oil
    - Mysterious Piece of Sheikah Technology

    Personality:
Kujo is the type of person who bottles his feelings up for as long as he can because he wants to come off as strong and stoic, but sooner or later he is bound to burst and show all of his bottled up feelings all at once. He genuinely cares about others and tends to be able to empathise very well with people, but he is often afraid to show that because he fears it might make him seem weak. Kujo values freedom above most other things, likely because he's never truly tasted it. He has now reached a point where he is prepared to take the freedom of those who threaten to take his. He is often very much on guard and pretty tense because of the state of the world which he has a very negative view of since his people got mistreated over and over again for decades. His sister Kaya has always been his best friend in the world so with her he is the able to relax and let his guard down. He is not particularly academically gifted, but he is well aware of this fact. Not being able to grasp the science and literature his mother tried to teach him is one of his biggest sorrows. While Kujo has gained a great dislike for authority he has a strong sense of justice and believes that everyone deserves true freedom.

    Skills:
    - Strong fighter
    - Skilled sword and bow user
    - Nimble and dexterous
    - Good at stealth
    - High perception
    - Easily understands the feelings of others

    Backstory:
Born in Kakariko Village in 58 ATR during times of oppression Kujo's life was tense from the start. His father passed away from an illness when Kujo was very young so he has no memory of him. He and his sister were raised by their widowed mother who was one of the village's brightest scientists. Kujo and his sister Kaya, who is a year younger than him, were always very close. She learned the science that their mother tried to teach them very quickly and was able to follow in her footsteps. Kujo on the other hand had difficulties with all academic subjects but his mother kept trying to teach him what she knew in hopes of passing on her scientific knowledge to both of her children.

When Kujo was seven and his sister was six the King of Hyrule sent soldiers to their village that would stay there and monitor the Sheikah strictly. Though Kujo didn't fully grasp it at the time this occupation of his home town would strip him and his people of the last sliver of their freedom. After a few more years of trying and failing to understand his mother's science teachings his mother decided to place Kujo in training to become a guard of the village elder. The Sheikah were no longer allowed to have any armed forces of their own, but they could still have a few guards watching the elder and her house, so Kujo was placed in training at age ten.

The guard training was of course supervised by the Hylian soldiers occupying the village, so in order to reach higher levels of skill Kujo did a lot of extra combat training in secret. He was also lucky to have a friendly neighbour who taught him the old stealth ways of their people when no Hylian soldiers were around, since this neighbour of his thought the village needed someone who could protect them in a pinch. Unlike the academic subjects that he had failed at, the combat and stealth training was something Kujo excelled at and learned quite quickly. When Kujo was in his early teens he started developing a desire to save the world. The thought of being a hero really spoke to him. Throughout his years of training Kujo remained very close with his sister who was becoming a brilliant scientist just like their mother. But Kujo felt like he was growing apart from their mother. He felt conflicted about not having been able to live up to her expectations and thus became rather distant from her.

When Kujo was 26 it was decided that the Hylian occupation of Kakariko Village would be phased out over the next three years. This was great news for everyone, however nothing seemed to change in the three years that followed. Kujo and many others in the village had been so patient for several years, so now that the King's promise had been broken Kujo felt a lot of disappointment and anger. His desire to become a hero also started to disappear when this happened. The world seemed to be just as cruel as it had always been and Kujo regretted thinking that there may have been a chance for freedom three years prior. Another two years of unease passed and Kujo's mother was getting old and sick. The untimely death of the King put the Sheikah in an even worse position than they had been in before. When Kujo's mother passed away the same year it was like the last bit of patience within Kujo evaporated and left him with nothing but fury and hatred for the Hylians that had been destroying their lives far too long. Kujo also felt a degree of guilt for not having spent much time with his mother the last couple of years since he thought he didn't live up to her expectations.

Recently Kujo and Kaya discovered a small chest beneath the floorboards in their home. The chest that had been left there by their mother contained a note for them expressing how proud she was of them both and that she was sorry for leaving them alone in such a cruel world. In the chest there were also two pieces of Sheikah technology; one for Kujo and one for Kaya. The items looked somewhat like small tablets but with no clear indication of how they worked or what their purpose was. Even after thoroughly examining them Kaya was unable to figure out what they were or how to use them. Kujo didn't care much about that though. To him it was something to remember his mother by so he keeps it with him at all times. Now Kujo is determined to track down and kill the head of the Kosso family as well as anyone standing in his way. His plan is to leave tonight without telling anyone, not even his sister, since they are probably safer that way. And he feels he must do it alone as there are barely any combat trained Sheikah left in the village anyway.
