Appearance:
Spike is a small Hylian child with bright blue eyes and soft, short brown hair that she likes to keep messy, sometimes using slime to spike it up, hence her nickname. Her skin is usually dirty, but when she does get a chance to take a bath, you can tell her skin tone is pale, and she has freckles dotting her face. She's a little short, just shy of four feet tall, with a lean build. She is often mistaken to be younger than she is, which angers her. Her outfit consists of black pants, ratty boots, and a simple, colourful yet stained shirt. She also carries a dog mask that is usually clipped to her pants.

Spike is a mischievous little child, and enjoys being mean for the sake of being mean - a trait she learned from her adoptive mother, Jackie. She is quick to warm up to strangers, but does this because she wants to steal from them; if they believe she's a sweet little girl, they tend to let their guard down. Spike is, however, quick to anger; she does not like to be underestimated, but quite often is simply because she overestimates her own abilities as most children do. The thing that angers her most is being mistaken for younger - life on the road is hard, and she is proud to have survived to be almost ten years old. Not that Jackie would let anything happen to her, but Spike likes to think that she's rough and tumble. She is actually, in fact, still a child, and easy to deceive. She is not as smart or strong as she think she is - far from it, actually.

Spike is an orphan of Hylian descent, left fatherless by a man who she has yet to have met, and motherless by a drunk who, as far as she knows, caused her house to burn down when she passed out while cooking. This, however, is untrue. Jackie Lucero, a known bandit, was in the process of robbing her family's farm when she was caught by Melissa's mother, Tracy, in the middle of the attempt. Jackie, ever the wittiest, knocked Tracy out with a nearby lamp and smashed it on the ground, triggering the blaze. On her way out with an armful of loot, she heard an infant crying in another room - Spike. Hurrying outside to drop off her loot, she then rushed back inside to save the little baby, only about eight months old at the time.
As a young girl, she was taught by Jackie in the ways of thievery, and how to lie her way out of most situations. Her adorable appearance has helped the pair out of more than one sticky situation. The pair are rarely seen in towns proper together, as Jackie is a wanted criminal, which makes Spike's use of a decoy all the better - while people are trying to find a young girl's parents (who do not exist), Jackie can sneak around the town and burgle at her leisure. Eventually, Spike was taught to use a bow, and is often seen using a Boko bow, as larger bows are still too difficult for her to use, and close range combat is forbidden by her adoptive mother. Nowadays, she travels the overworld with Jackie and their newest party member, Geno.
