  • "Jackie Black" Lucero

    Name: "Jackie Black" (Jackie Lucero)
    Gender: Female
    Race: Hylian
    Age: 34
    Occupation: Bandit leader

    Appearance:
Jackie stands at 5’6” and 135 pounds with a healthy posture and muscular build. Her skin is dark brown, but often dry and lacking vibrance. Her wavy black hair is often dirty and held up in messy twin buns or pigtails, with two white strands hanging down in front of her eyes due to the cells being damaged. She is missing her front two bottom teeth.

Her good eye is dark brown and she has deep, dark eye sockets that look quite intimidating. The eye area is stained from constant warpaint wear, trailing down from the outside of her eyes down her jaws. She has strong brows, one of which is cut by a scar that goes through her right eye. This eyelid always droops and only the bloodshot white of the bad eye can be seen.

Her left arm is tatted with long 69ing lizard patterns and her right arm is a solid sleeve. Her back is tatted with skeleton wings, with a spine shaped tattoo along her spine and back and front of the neck. It’s hard to tell what her back tattoo is because it has been marred by fire. Her lips are tatted black as well as two stripes on the bridge of her nose. Black feather earrings dangle from her ears as well as three gold earrings on the top of her right ear.

Donning a sleeveless hide jerkin covered in black feathers with a skirt hanging down to her knees, she is protected without being bogged down. This also has a hood which comes in handy with being a wanted criminal and all. Her only iron is the shoulder and forearm guards (image link) on her non-sword arm, used for blocking attacks. She also wears strappy, boot-shaped leather sandals that almost reach her knees.

    Equipment:
    • Tent with bedroll
    • Assorted cooking utensils
    • Soldier’s broadsword
    • Various looted knives for throwing
    • A thin but strong coil of rope
    • Torch and fuel
    • Map
    • 100 rupees

    Personality:
Jackie is the queen of the world, or so she thinks. She still respects the powers of nature, knowing the relentlessness of life in the wild all too well. The only person she really respects is her 9 year old “daughter”, Spike, along with Geno, but to a lesser extent. To anyone else, in a best case scenario she will come off as a total bitch. At worst, a malicious storm of hate and fury. The most vile form of cutthroat, she won’t hesitate to step on (or kill) others to ensure her security or gain. Given her reputation for murder and ransacking, she completely avoids any major settlement where soldiers could capture her. It’s her nature to live as an outcast, taking her tent from place to place. For all her roughness and independence, she is actually terrified of dying alone and likes to have a friend around, even if she treats them like garbage. She lacks patience, and if she asks one of her companions to do something for her and they take too long, she will just storm ahead and do it herself with a grunt. Likewise, if for whatever reason she takes a prisoner and is trying to get information, she sometimes misses out on the information due to impatient killing. She does have a side capable of smiling, though this is only when she is with her people, Spike and Geno. She has a sense of humor, though it comes off as wretched and violent to just about anyone else. She is closed-minded and doesn’t see any beauty in the world aside from Spike, mostly due to her pride in raising the child into a mini-me. She hasn’t cried since she was a young child. She takes pride in her savage ways, and any other way is for the weak.

    Skills:
Jackie’s angst is an attribute (and a weakness), as she lacks hesitation in just about anything she does. This is a great advantage in combat. She is also quite strong and has decades of sword fighting under her belt, having an erratic but powerful style. She is able to throw knives with great force at just about any target she chooses. Sometimes she attaches ropes to her knives, lodging them in incredibly distant targets and climbing up. She’s somewhat sneaky, but not like a Sheikah. She is good with her map and actually knows the lay of the land quite well from memory, especially the central areas of the world. Her missing two bottom teeth are also an asset, as they allow for a loud and clear whistle that can mimic a bird, handy for doing raids with her bandit companions who can easily recognize it. She is a fast runner and can swim, and is good at stealing a horse without much of a fuss. Not necessarily a skill, but she has a knack for leaving a trail of destruction in her wake. As mentioned in her personality, her negotiation skills are nonexistent. She's a great tattoo artist, taught by Jack Lucero. For all her bleakness, her cooking is surprisingly rich, though meat-heavy, and she can filet anything that moves...

    Backstory:
Jackie was born 56 ATR on a farmstead outside Clock Town. Shortly after her birth, this farm was raided by seven bandits and her parents were killed. Baby Jackie was taken by the bandits as their own. Due to this, she believed for a long time that she had seven parents, the bandits. There was one bandit who stood out, Jack Lucero, who was especially fond of her and whom her name comes from. This was the same bandit group who successfully raided Clock Town’s markets in 59 ATR without being caught, and her earliest major memory was their triumphant return.

She looked up to these bandits and their ferocity, laying the foundation for her rough way of life. She had knives of her own for as long as she can remember, and was adapted to take animal lives without grief at an early age. If she ever cried, the bandits would shut her up so harshly that this emotion soon disappeared altogether.

Once she was nine, she was truly becoming one of the bandits and they respected her as she made herself useful hunting and cooking for them. They knew she was a promising young bandit when she killed a bear at that age by throwing knives at it from atop a tree. She was scared shitless and now knew the true power of nature. Jack gave her skeleton wings, teaching her how to tattoo.

On a dreary day when the group was bickering amongst themselves, one of the bandits sarcastically asked her “Why don’t you go kill us another bear?”. So she searched for days trying to please them, not finding one. When she returned to the bandit camp, she found her comrades wiped out without the culprit in sight. At this point she found that she didn’t care much for them after all, though seeing Jack’s corpse got to her and she was furious, not having the emotional vocabulary to cry.

She packed up a tent and some equipment and began a life on her own. Years went by, and she never found a place with any other group. She was too rough and ragged to move to a town, and she couldn’t just waltz in and join any bandit group. She tried once, but the bandits just sliced her eye and turned her away.

When she was fourteen there was a run in with some rare monsters she had never seen before (moblins and bokoblins). She was struck on the forehead by a club, but survived when a passing adventurer by the name of Hayley helped out in the nick of time. Jackie’s head healed, but her bangs were apparently damaged so that they grew back in grey and eventually white.

Hayley was around twenty at the time, and sympathetically let young Jackie travel with her for a few days. Jackie’s clothes were pretty much rags at this point, and much too small, so she was envious of Hayley’s fresh adventurer’s digs. Additionally, Hayley was endowed with a sparkling personality and great beauty. It had been a long time since Jackie had a friend, and Hayley was perfect. Jackie immediately fell in love with her, and soon became obsessed and jealous. This was all over the course of a few days. By their fourth night traveling together, Hayley was thoroughly creeped out and ditched the fourteen year old while the girl was sleeping. Jackie never saw Hayley again, but even today when she’s alone she will sometimes shout curses at Hayley, the “pretty, rich, righteous big-girl”. Jackie vowed to herself to never grow so emotionally attached to anyone ever again.

Jackie would occasionally run with others doing crimes, but rarely, and it never lasted long. When she was 22, she freed a caravan of prisoners because she needed men for a raid, and two joined her. It worked because to her they were easy-to-control morons, and there was no emotional connection. She got good at leading, and truly came into her own as a professional bandit leader at this time. Though, all their buffoonery caught up with them, and two years after rescuing them she killed them off, relieved to not hear their babbling any longer.

She went back to pillaging for another year on her own until she gained a daughter she named Spike. She doesn’t tell Spike the details, but one night she was robbing a farmstead in the Nima Plains. A woman (Tracy) in the house caught her, so Jackie gave the woman a good bonk on the head with a nearby lamp, smashing it on the ground to start a fire for good measure. The sound of a wailing baby pulled on the one string remaining in Jackie’s heart. She rescued the baby and got out of the house, shielding the baby from flames but burning her own back in the process. She grew to cherish this baby, the only person who didn’t annoy her. She made a strategic decision to teach Spike to fake cry, but also taught her to never shed a genuine tear, for that was weakness.

Seven years later, when Jackie was 32, she set her sights on a remote mansion in the Aldor Foothills. They staked out the house, and once nobody was home, she entered the house with her eight year old Spike in tow. Before they could get much loot, someone snuck up on them–someone who had beaten them to most of the good stuff. It was a Sheikah roughly ten years younger than her. After a lengthy but inconclusive battle, they became acquainted and she saw value in his agility and unique brand of cunning. This bandit trio remains in operation to this day all over Hyrule. Jackie appreciates Geno’s skills more and more as their time together passes, though she would never outright show this appreciation. Their spoils and efficiency are enough to make the group stick together.
