  • Geno Palmore

    Name: Geno Palmore
    Gender: Male
    Race: Sheikah
    Age: 21
    Occupation: Bandit/Thief, (struggling) inventor

Personality: Geno is an individualistic person at his core. Though the systemic oppression of his people has never bothered him as much as it should have, it gets on his nerves when others judge or assume things about him solely on the basis of being a Sheikah. He has a very strong desire to be seen and treated as a genuine individual, divorced from any concept of race or allegiance. However, that isn’t to say that he doesn’t enjoy or appreciate companionship. Geno very much enjoys making friends or acquaintances out of anyone he comes to respect. Such a respect can be earned by impressing him, either through the use of a skill or talent, or a showcase of their character that demonstrates that the person genuinely values themselves. Geno takes extreme pleasure from tricking or outsmarting people, as well as proving people who don’t believe in him wrong. In regular conversation, the Sheikah comes off as laidback yet confident, often cracking jokes at the expense of others, and also sometimes making thinly veiled insults and threats. When alone with friends, this persona is still somewhat present, but is generally more wholesome, honest, and able to express his real feelings. Geno has a rather strange temper. He does not get upset at injustice or being insulted, but mild inconveniences like putting clothing on the wrong way or someone saying his name wrong rile him up. He does get angry if his friends are put in danger or harmed, but it is a more calm, silent anger as opposed to loud, pouty rage that he normally finds himself in.

Equipment: A wallet that can hold up to 800 rupees (empty initially), two big steel knives (one plain-edge, one serrated-edge), the one and only back-scratching stick, stolen extra Sheikah clothing, a small coil of climbing rope, a tent with bedroll

Appearance: Being a Sheikah, Geno’s hair color is the signature Sheikah silver. He keeps it relatively short, and no matter what he might try to do with it, it somehow remains in a state of perpetual messiness (visual reference here). He has green eyes which he got from his mother, but his father’s round face and small nose. His skin is pale, both in line with his heritage and his distaste for the sun. He has an average build, making an effort to not become fat, but also not really trying to be muscular either. For clothing, he is usually wearing traditional Sheikah garb (visual reference here). He also wears a wider, circular variant of the Sheikah headpiece similar to the one worn by Maz Koshia, but not as large (visual reference here).

Skills: Geno has a particular creativity that proves to be useful in a variety of contexts. For example, while he may not be the best cook, he is usually able to make decent meals out of unconventional sets of ingredients. He has a knack for puzzles and problem-solving as well, often choosing to abandon logical approaches in favor of strategies most people would find strange. This creativity also makes Geno great at confusing and/or irritating people in a conversation, if he wishes to do so. However, a big thing to note with all of this is that the spontaneity of it all means that anything could backfire at any given time. Geno is aware of this flaw, but finds too much entertainment in his own shenanigans to really care. This is all to say that while sometimes Geno can succeed even in situations where the odds are against him, he can also be his own bad luck. Geno has a few skills that don’t come with caveats, though. His accuracy when throwing something, while not perfect, is insanely good for someone without formal training. He’s also a fairly good thief due to his above average agility, which is a result of his frequent exercise. He isn’t useless in a fight, but he prefers to either outwit his opponent or take them out from afar with his knives if possible.

Backstory: In 69 ATR, Geno was born to ordinary Sheikah farmers in Kakariko Village. His childhood was largely uneventful, paying respect to his elders and acquainting himself with the other children of the village.

Reaching the age of 14, Geno started to become more aware of the oppression his people faced under Lord Kosso’s rule, and how complacent his parents were with the conditions compared to the rest of the adults. Geno didn’t particularly care for the Hylian’s hatred, but it did bother him that his own family would choose to roll over when others stood up for themselves. Soon, he began disassociating himself from his parents. For the following years Geno remained in Kakariko, the boy slacked off on his farming work and spent most of his time how he wanted, improving his agility through frequent exercise and trying to pick up new skills like juggling. Geno’s new approach to life often angered his father, worsening their relationship to the point where they would only speak to each other if the conversation was related to their work or official village business.

By the time Geno turned 18, it had become impossible for him to feel content living in Kakariko Village, especially under his parents’ roof. Without warning, Geno ran away in the middle of a stormy night (some extra clothing in tow), successfully sneaking past Kosso’s soldiers. The young man opted to go to Castle Town, but quickly realized that he was both penniless and homeless. To survive without returning to Kakariko, Geno became a thief. At first, he was not very successful, but his incredible agility kept from being caught. After about a year, he was one of the most well-known and notorious criminals of the town, preying mostly on unaware visitors with big wallets. Recognizing his notoriety, Geno left Castle Town to roam Hyrule, picking the pockets of many travelers as he went.
As he roamed Hyrule during this time, Geno received most of the equipment he travels with currently. Items like his wallet and the knives are simply the spoils of his thievery. The back-scratching stick, on the other hand, is a bit of a different story.

Eventually, he met the bandits Jackie and Spike while looting an isolated mansion, and joined them in their travels after settling a brief misunderstanding.
