Juli looked to her left as she heard Allie mention her name. To her surprise, her friend was conversing with a Rito. Allie had rarely mentioned anything about her family or Rito City in the time they'd known each other, so Juli had no idea who this person was supposed to be. She opened her mouth to speak after she was introduced, but kept quiet as Allie continued speaking.

So, what's your story? Juli asked the stranger in her mind. Getting a good look at him now, she had to admit the color of his feathers were a rather elegant dark shade of purple. In fact, it looked better than all of the purple dyes she'd just been looking at. She smiled a little, remembering a time her mother had claimed that colors made by dyes were better than any that naturally occurred in nature. To this day Juli thought the sentiment was ridiculous, since dyes were made from things in nature, so the current moment made her feel satisfied. In the brief moment that the girls waited for the stranger's response, Juli's mind raced with thoughts of what the Rito might say, or what his voice might sound like.

Mezon smiled again at the girl, this time more warmly. She seemed friendly, and seemed to recognize him as well though clearly didn't remember who he was specifically which he had expected. Still, he nodded as she mentioned Rito City. Before he could do more in response though the Rito continued to ramble over more information, his eyes widening in response. When she stopped he chuckled quietly. It seemed that these people had seen a lot of the world; he had only heard of Tarrey Town a couple of times and didn't know much about it, but knew Clock Town was a place everyone should see at some point in their lives. He'd traveled past it a couple of times when moving from one assigned location to another these past few months but had never stepped foot behind its circular walls, the tall Clock Tower ringing invitingly from high above the plateau.

Mez noticed the girl the Rito had introduced, Julianna, with a small smile on her face as she seemingly tried to figure out who he was. He found it funny that he now knew the friend's name but still couldn't remember the name of the Rito he had actually met before. Without waiting any longer so as not to appear rude he smiled back at Julianna and bowed his head slightly, putting his wing over his chest as he did so as a sign of hello. He knew it wouldn't be long before they realized he couldn't speak and the typical surprise and awkward glances that would follow, but for now he was at least happy to be meeting someone who wasn't a soldier for once.

Looking back at the Rito, he nodded and smiled at her last question, I'm good, thank you for asking, ringing in his head as he gestured slightly with his wings as he would've had he been talking. Knowing it might speed this process up if he could get the girl to remember who he was, he gave a slight sigh and looked up slightly so that his neck was more visible, pointing at the thin scar on it with his right wing. Perhaps this will be enough to get her to remember.

She leaned in to examine the scar, probably a bit closer than would be comfortable for Mezon, but she was so sure she recognized this Rito. She squinted, then backed away suddenly with a gasp. "I remember now! You fought that awful, awful monster when you were just a kid!" she straightened up and bowed her head. "I remember Tebin bringing you back to Rito City, that was an awful night, I'm really sorry about that." she reached up to trace Mez's scar, but stopped her hand when it got within a few inches of his neck. She yanked it back and apologized again, looking away.

"You have a good eye! The silver from this piece came from Zora's Domain itself." Gorbi picked up the piece in question, giving it a quick yet thorough polish with a cloth to remove any (imaginary) smudges. "It travelled with me for a few months before it told me what shape to give it, when I was near the base of Death Mountain. You'll notice a particular sparkle in it. That is from capturing some of the very essence of Death Mountain, to give it just a little extra shine." He proffered the band still on the cloth, held as carefully as a newborn between his hands. He glanced at the other Zora. "Anything strike your fancy, sir? Perhaps a piece in copper? It might not seem as flashy as its gold and silver brethren, but it has its own shine."

Mikela slid the band on and her eyes widened. She could see the sparkle. She could see the whole universe. The vendor's words blurred as she gazed into the precious shine. Makon was interrupted before he could answer the Goron.

"I'll take it," Mikela said excitedly. "How much?" She went into her rupee purse.

Gorbi sat back, affecting an air of melancholy. "Ah, that beauty has travelled with me for awhile. I'd hoped to make a special profit on it, but it clearly suits you and I can't bear to part it from the one it was clearly destined for. And for a talented musician such as yourself, I'd be hard pressed to offer anything but a special discount. A simple 80 rupees would more than suffice for this piece."

After so many years since the incident, Mezon no longer felt the awkwardness and shame that had come from people becoming absorbed by his scar at first. Now he just gave them a half-smile, a bit of lopsided sadness, and nodded. He did so now as well as the Rito girl recalled who he was, though he was still unsure whether she knew his name or not. His next order of business was going to be to try to get her to say his name so he could be sure there were no misunderstandings, but that thought was lost when she mentioned Tebin. His eyes widened in excitement and he flapped his wings slightly as he realized that she knew who his friend was. Completely missing her saying she was sorry for what had happened, he prematurely looked around them quickly as if expecting Tebin to just walk up to them from nowhere now that his name had been mentioned. Then he looked back at the other Rito. As calmly as he could muster, he pointed at her. Then he mouthed the name, Tebin, as clearly as was possible for someone who had a beak for a mouth. Then he bent and raised both of his wings into the general shape people used when conveying doubt, a question or uncertainty, then mouthed the name again. He looked at her eyes intensely, then at Julianna's, then back to hers, expectantly, waiting for her to hopefully reveal that she could take him exactly to where he hoped to be right now.

"Fantastic," Mikela said as she handed four rupees to the Goron, smiling at her new accessory as well as the man's compliment. "Enjoyed our show didya? We'll be playing again tonight. You should come out, I'll introduce you to the band." Then she remembered she hadn't caught the Goron's name, though she assumed he knew hers. She was a star, after all. "What's your name, sir?"

Gorbi slipped the rupees into a pouch at his waist and dipped his head to the Zora. "I am known as Gorbi the Etcher. Wonderful to meet you, although I'm unsure if I'll be able to break away to see your evening performance." He spread his arms to indicate the stall. "While most will also be going to see your wonderful show, many will still be wandering the various stalls. I must make the sales that I can during these, the first few days, when the majority of those coming to the fair are exploring and seeing what is being offered. Perhaps later, after the fairgrounds are shut down and various patrons are sent home, perhaps we might meet for celebratory drinks." He would avoid mentioning it for now, in case the Zoras grew suspicious, but he wondered if he might be able to develop a connection with the band, in case they might be willing to help spread his brand. He liked being a travelling merchant, but it would be easier if he chose somewhere to settle down to cast his various pieces. He'd lose some business doing that, though, and being tied to a rather famous band, however loosely, would help attract some clientele he'd otherwise lose. Even if he didn't manage to get any such connection, however, he would happily enjoy relaxing with such a laid back and seemingly cheerful group like the Tsunami 6.

"Uhh...what?" Juli asked, left confused by Mezon's gesturing. "Did that make sense to you, Allie? Cause I totally didn't get it at all."

In the midst of waiting for a response, she felt bad about her inability to understand the male Rito. It was hard for her to imagine what it would be like to be in his shoes, unable to speak whatsoever. She then realized something: she didn't know of any established way for mute people to communicate with other people. Under the right circumstances, they could write what they wanted to say, but at the same time they couldn't always be expected to be able to write stuff down whenever they needed to communicate something. For her, it begged the question of whether there was a good solution to this problem or not. However, she also knew that she probably couldn't come up with the answer on the spot if it didn't exist already.

"Uhh," she looked at Juli and shrugged before turning back to Mezon. "You aaaarreeee. Looking for somebody?" she asked, cocking her head to the side. "Kevin?" she suggested, trying to guess the name Mezon was mouthing. "I don't think I know a Kevin, do you Jules?"

"Pleased to meet you, Mister Gorbi," Mikela said. "That would be splendid!"

"Thank you Gorbi," Makon said, then turned to Mikela. He gave her an assertive nod towards the way they came. Mojo was gonna be pissed if they took any longer getting back.

"Yeah, yeah," Mikela conceded, and made one last smiling glimpse at Gorbi. "See ya around!"

With that, the Zora duo slowly pushed their way through crowds of fairgoers with their persistent ring of fans.

Once they returned, Mojo was worked up as expected. "What took you so long?" He noticed the new trinket around Mikela's wrist. "You have all day tomorrow to go on a shopping spree! But you're not getting paid if you aren't ready for tonight! Cut the foolishness."

"Yessir." Mikela didn't care or deserve Mojo's tone, but she put on a good front to make him calm down. She sat down at the table where Makon had set out their sushi loot. She took a bite and was transported to Zora heaven. The Zora troupe chatted amongst themselves as they ate in preparation for rehearsal, and finally their show later that night.

Mezon smiled apologetically, knowing well that he was nowhere near getting them to guess what he needed to know. It was more his fault than theirs though, he really needed to come up with some better way to be able to communicate with people. His life had made him grow too comfortable, growing up only really needing to talk with Tebin and his parents all of whom understood him very well since they'd known him from long before the accident, and not really having had to talk much with anyone since leaving Rito City. Now, however, the need for it became more apparent than ever.

He nodded again when the Rito girl asked if he was looking for someone but quickly shook his head when she said Kevin. He almost laughed at the guess, finding that to be a particularly strange name, but then signaled it to be kind of close with his wing considering it did sound like Tebin. Still, he decided he'd give it one more shot before giving up on the endeavor.

He nodded once more as he pointed at his eye, confirming that he was in fact looking for someone. Then, he used one of his wings to point at his other outstretched one, emphasizing the feathers on it, then did the same emphasizing the girl's feathers. If he could narrow it down to a Rito, this might become easier to guess. Finally, he mouthed the name again, as clearly as possible, pointed straight at the Rito girl almost poking at her repeatedly, mouthed the name, then pointed at himself and specifically at his scar once more, and mouthed it a third time. Hoping against his better judgement that this time it had worked, he waited to see if he was making any sense at all.

"Oh! Now I know where I recognize you from!" she said excitedly, bouncing on her feet a little bit. "You were best friends with Tebin! I remember when y'all came back to the village after you fought that monster, my mom was sure you were dead." She stopped herself from talking after that, realizing only after she'd said it that those words were ridiculously insensitive. "But, uh, I'm glad you're still here," she said sheepishly.

Juli had been fearing the conversation would devolve into a drawn out guessing game, so she felt quite relieved that Allie seemed to understand what the other Rito was saying. When her friend stopped talking, there was an awkward silence, which made Juli a little antsy. She hated moments like this, as she never quite knew what to do. Usually, she just waited for the other person to talk first, but she also hated doing that, because it meant waiting for them to realize that she was waiting for them, and then continuing to wait for them while they figured out what to say.

"Excuse me, but are any of you three gonna buy anything?" The shopkeeper asked with a hint of anger in his voice. "Cause if you aren't, I'd appreciate if you'd stop blocking my goods from the view of my actual customers."

Juli was again relieved, happy the silence had ended quickly, but couldn't help but feel a little annoyed because of how she was spoken to.

"You want anything from here, then, Allie?" Juli asked, shooting a quick glare at the shopkeeper as she did so. "I think it's gonna be no from me."
