    The leader looked between the two strangers, fear causing him to shake as his two companions were onset with something by the strangers. "P-please," he said, his voice quavering. "W-we have orders to bring that girl in. J-just let us g-get her and w-we'll leave you alone."

    Cynthia laughed as she saw the trio of men attacked by Eris and the other shadow-wielder. She decided she wanted in on it, so called all her shadow pieces together. They formed at the edge of the clearing, then morphed into her favorite monster. It was a creature she had seen in a movie when little, the only thing that had scared her. She prowled into the clearing, her jaws opening in a hiss as her tail lashed. Accidently, her physical form in front of the fire-healer morphed too, to a miniture form on the beast. If these three men hadn't already, they would have wet themselves. The leader took one look and the creature and ran.

      Rhytha smiled at Cynthia. "I can look into it for you, see what I can dig up. Just as light has a bad side, I'm sure shadow has a good side." She yelped in surprise as Cynthia suddenly shape-shifted in front of her. "What's going on? Is something wrong?" She gasped as her gift suddenly began to draw her towards the woods, in the direction Erin had gone. "Something's wrong......" She took off, following the pull of her gift.

        "aww, babies" eris said with a grin, stroking the lead soilders face "the girl your looking for is long gone,now, just get off my land k. a spirit elemental isn't someone you want to toy with. we are the strongest and smartest of all the elements. we can reach inside of you and know things you don't even know yourself. we can touch your most venerable part, the part that makes you" she leaned in closly, almost as if she was going to kiss him and whispered "your spirit"

          Damian picked up the gun and stuffed it into his coat, clicking the safety off. He got up near Eris and the soldier.
          "Strongest and smartest? I take offense." He muttered to Eris, then turned to the soldier. "Now just get out, we are not a group you want angry at you. She can drag out your darkest secrets, she is perfectly okay with sticking you through with a pointy little stick," He bent down and grabbed a stick off the ground, throwing it to Cynthia. "And I can and will shatter your mind with a single word, leaving you hiding in the corner of a mental institution, screaming at the shadows. And I will do this with every member of your group, everyone you know, until I find the one responsible. I think it's an obvious choice, but just in case you misunderstand me,"
          He shoved the soldier, watching as he landed on the ground.
          "Go!"

            Rhytha burst out of the woods and went over to the two downed men, breathing heavily. She gently touched both of thier foreheads, sending them into a dreamless sleep. "What..... what did you do to them......." Kneeling beside the more damaged of the two, she lightly brushed her fingertips over the wound in his hand, pale blue flames dancing over his skin where she touched it, healing the wound from the inside out. "There's more damage than just this.... my gift would not react this strongly to such a minor flesh wound....." She looked up at Erin and Damien. "You two had better have a good explanation for this......" She turned back to the soldier and closed her eyes, sending a spark of power into his body to search for the hidden wound that had caused her gift to react so strongly. Finding nothing physically wrong with him, she lightly touched his mind. She jerked herself free with an inarticulate cry, her eyes flying open. "Goddess bless!"

              "He was going to hurt Cynthia. I stopped him. Now she's fine." Damian said, sinking back down to lean against a tree.
              "Sure, he's a little shaken up, but he would have done worse to her. I didn't even really break his mind, just... Cracked it?"

                Rhytha glared up at him. "Cracked? You fragmented his mind and trapped him in a living hell within his own head!" She turned away from him. "Since you're the one who shattered him, I'll need your help putting him back together again." Laying her hand lightly over the man's forehead, she closed her eyes and focused.

                  Cynthia shifted herself to normal, and pulled all her pieces together. She grinned at the shadow-wielder. "Thanks for that," she said. She said the same to the psychic. Then she turned to the fire-healer. "Girl, if you've seen what these people did tried to capture me, you wouldn't be so keen to put him to rights." She gestured at the man. "Might as well put him out of his misery. He's going to die if he keeps after me anyways."

                    eris took a step back and smilied at them both "he won't remeber any of this, to their is no need to hurt him" she moved closly to the soilder and placed a hand on his head, manipulating his memories so that there was no recollection of cynthia. the soilder collapsed, totally unconscious "there done" eris said, she was shaking from side to side though and eventually fell over. passing out herself.

                      Damian shrugged. "If Eris really did wipe his memory, then I guess we can let him wake up. But if he, or anyone else, tries to capture her again, I swear he will never wake up." He put his hand on Rhytha's and felt her move power through him, letting him find the darkness he'd tangled up in the soldier's mind and using her fire to clear them away. He could feel it draining at him as they fought the shadows, but gritted his teeth and stayed there until it was done and the soldier's eyes cracked open.
                      "You figure out what to tell him. I'll get Eris back to her house." His muscles sore from the healing, he picked up the girl and stepped into the shadows, carrying her to the house in the field and putting her on the couch there before collapsing on a chair next to her, just barely awake.

                        Rhytha managed to draw the soldier's mind back together, but he was too damaged for her to be able to heal completely. She pulled out of his mind, gasping for air. "I..... I've done.... all I can for him......" She slumped forward, exhausted.

                          Cynthia rolled. "I don't see why you're doing anything for them. These is the twelfth group that's come after me. All they ever know is what's in the folder they're given." She moved to the fire-healer and pulled her up by the shoulders, shooting a look at the man, then guided her through the forest to the cabin she had seen earlier. She left a bit of herself behind to watch the group. She didn't trust them, and when they regained conciousness, she'd want to interrogate them, to see if they knew of any other groups after her at the moment. Then... Well, she didn't know. She'd either kill them, or she'd scare tham away.

                            Rhytha limped along beside Cynthia, too exhausted from the effort of repairing the man's mind to wonder where she was being led to. "They're still human...... they're just..... doing what they.... were told to do......." She stumbled, barely managing to catch herself before she fell on her face.

                              Cynthia grunted as she tried to keep the fire-healer balanced. "Should I just shift to something and carry you, or can you keep your feet moving?" she asked, a little snappishly. She could understand the healer not wanting to kill, no healer liked to kill. But that was what she was best at. It's like the soldier and the doctor in that old movie, she mused, except we're the same gender.

                                Rhytha bit her lip. "I'm sorry.... I can walk...." She forced herself to keep moving, though all she really wanted to do was curl up beside a fire and sleep. "I don't mean to be a... a burden on you......"
