Julius wanted to kill Natalya right there, "just another paycheck." I won't be just a paycheck when the Fiends are trying to kill you...

Julius brushed away the comment after a moment and went back to the business at hand.

Julius: Legatus Pizkre. My men have reporting some strange...signals from him. And a few of his comments the last few meetings have thrown me off gaurd. I want him dead. I will appoint a new Legatus to take his place.

Julius paused and motioned for Natalya to look at the map.

Julius: Legatus Pizkres' men will be meeting at Kehill. I know Pizkre, he will stop here. Julius pointed to a section on the map. A small pub about a days trip from here. He'll drink, probably grab a wench or two and be passed out before midnight. Kill him there. It will be your only chance. Return with his head and the necklace around his neck.

    Julius looked at Natalya.

Julius: You have three days. Good luck.

Natalya raised one eyebrow, intruigued. "I see. So in other words, you want me to take him out because you suspect he's a traitor." She nodded. "I can do that. I'll need a description of Pizkre so I know who to look for." She chuckled slightly. "By the way, have you ever noticed that his name sounds like pigsty?"

Julius: Trust me...you'll know who he is. He'll be in the fanciest armor there, has a beard as well. And no, I haven't, nice catch.

        Julius looked at the map.

Julius: By the way, he has a head start...I'd get going.

"I planned on it." Natalya took a quick look at the map, marking the location in her mind, then turned and left his office without another word. She went to the room she had been staying in and collected her gear. After a quick glance around the room to make sure she had everything she would need, she went down to the stables and took one of the faster horses. She leapt up onto it's back in one smooth motion and kicked it into a gallop, determined to ride through the night if she had to in order to get to the inn ahead of her target.

Legatus Pizkre was already a few minutes into his journey. He had set off with an armed guard of 50 praetorians. It was more than enough to keep him protected, he hoped.

He led his men and made his way toward the tavern.

            Meanwhile:

Vic was sitting in his command tent outside of Mayheath, one of his Fiend Generals was speaking to him.

Ricardo: The East gate is putting up a large fight and we are still having trouble infiltrating the northern sewers. Other than that, we have lost 457 men, sending only a few dozen in waves to find weak spots. Our reports indicate that they have lost over 300. The catapults should break the walls in a few more hours of serious fire. Our siege towers are nearing completion and we should have the East Wall covered in them by tomorrow morning.

Vic pet his bird that was sitting on his next. He nodded and smiled.

Vic: You have done well Ricardo. Prepare the men to enter the siege tower and prepare the first six brigades for the first wave on the southern wall. We will take Mayheath by tomorrow morning.

Ricardo nodded and bowed before exiting the tent. A scout entered a few moments after.

Scout: King! The Elvens are mobilizing more of their troops! Codale is falling. And our men have ravaged hundreds of small villages.

            Vic: No resistance?

Scout: A few groups of peasants and farmers, but no large military forces.

Vic pondered the statement, This is not like the humans at all...not what my grandfather spoke of, nor what any scrolls foretold. Vic stared at his bird for a few minutes before looking at the scout. Regroup the men...send them to... Vic paused and looked at a map in front of him, Kehill.

Riding full out, Natalya grinned as she passed her target and his escort, going off of the road so they wouldn't see her. She reached the inn with plenty of time and stabled the horse, then went inside. "So far, so good...."

Legatus Pizkre watched as the horse flew by.

Legatus Pizkre: Crazy people these days...

He continued to ride at a slow, even pace. He would reach the tavern within twenty minutes.

(For the sake of story telling let's just say it is around 11:00 PM)

Natalya cleaned herself up and changed into a skirt and blouse she kept for special occasions. She slipped the sheath to her throwing knives on forearm, under her sleeve, and buckled her thigh sheath to her leg. "So he likes to go wenching, huh?" She grinned.

Omior marched his forces through the center of the burning city of Codale. He allowed his men to finish their "business" with the women and from their "rewards". After awhile his force formed up again. They were now heading to Kehill. The Fiends should have Mayheath in a few days and that means Omior will head south to rendezvous with another Elven battalion and capture the southern half of the Mayheath Empire.

Legatus Pizkre spotted the Tavern a few hundred feet ahead.

He made his way there and sent his soldiers to make camp. He took his top guards into the tavern and pushed through the doors.

Legatus Pizkre: Barkeep! Two casks of ale for me and my men, along with your finest women!

The Legate took a seat in one of the chairs, as did his men. He removed his helmet and within moments there was ale in his hands.

Legatus Pizkre: To a long life!

                      Praetorian: Aye!

The men began to drown themselves in ale and women.

                      Meanwhile:

Julius was staring at the map in front of him. It was a strategical layout of the Mayheath empire.

                      He stared at the image.

Julius: I don't have enough men for this...I need Asar.

Natalya sauntered over to Legatus Pizkre's table with her hips swaying, smiling coyly. "Good evenin', sirs." She let her gaze drift over Pizkre. "Mind if I join you handsome gentlemen? I find myself rather lonely, if you get my meaning." She deliberately let her gaze drift down.

                          Legatus Pizkre smiled.

Legatus Pizkre: Now you...you are one of the best in this joint! What will ya cost me?

Natalya chuckled throatily. "Depends on what you want to do." She winked at him, leaning forward so he got a good view. "So, the question is, just what do you want?" She deliberately pitched her voice low, to make it sound more of an invitation to him.

                              Legatus Pizkre: Everything.

Natalya grinned. "For a handsome man like you, I'll give you everything you desire from me for only 100 rupees." She trailed her fingertips along his thigh. "Trust me, it'll be more than worth the cost."
