  • 1-on-1: Shane VS Elliot

    Jborgon-Shane VS Eko-Elliot

    Result: N/A

    Begin.
So I'm back, or at least I will be eventually. Trying to reintegrate myself.
My 3DS Friend Code is 3437-3052-8998. I'm usually playing the MH4U demo or MH4U(When it comes out), but I'd also be down for 3DS Smash Bros.
(Note to self: The hex code is #d98fef, so don't forget it)

    Setting: Rocky desert plains

Elliot strolled in, arms behind his head, occasionally glancing left to right for his opponent. If he remembered correctly, the person he was to fight went by the name of "Shane". Not someone he'd heard of before. The place was pretty hot, as to be expected from a desert, but he kept on the move anyway, not wanting to be a sitting target for his challenger.
He had his heart set on winning that arena prize and he wasn't going to lose today.

Shane walked up to Elliot silently from behind. He wondered who was dumb enough to think he could beat the Wild Shadow of Vengeance. As he got close he drew his sword and held it to his chest. When he was close enough he whispered in the guy's ear. "Good luck. You'll need it." He backed up as he waited for the other guy to react. If he was sure about one thing, it was that this was going to be fun. Let us see what this guy's got...

He felt the presence of his opponent behind him even before the whispered words had sent a shiver down his spine. He kept his composure, however, and smiled, drawing his sword and turning around to face the man. "I see you've finally decided to show your face," he ribbed. "Well then, may the best man win." He held his sword in front of him and readied himself for an attack.

Shane smiled. "Well since there's only one man here, and he's not wearing a brown tunic, then I guess I'm so good even you want me to win," he mocked. He sighed, closed his eyes, and was quiet for a moment. When he thought enough time had passed for the words to sink in, he raised his sword to be parallel with his waist and got closer to Elliot, but didn't attack him yet.

Elliot chuckled, slightly shaking his head. "You know, it takes a bigger man to fight with honor instead of petty insults. Your words will have no effect on me." His eyes scanned his opponent, trying to gauge as much information from his appearance as he could. He was tall, he'd give him that. And the arrogance that seemed to ooze from him told him that he'd certainly fought before and won. He knew he'd have to be careful and rely on his smarts to get through this. Perhaps if he kept the man talking, he'd be able to obtain more information about him and then determine how best to defeat him. "What made you decide to join the arena, anyway?" he asked after circling around him when he felt the man was getting just a little too close for comfort.

He is trying to put space between us, thought Shane. It was a common thing for opponents to do. But, maybe... Perhaps it had been too much talk already, and they should just get to the fight already. Although, if he could strike a deal with Elliot, this fight would be that much easier. But striking a deal in these circumstances would be too hard. It would be better just to focus on the fighting. He decided to keep talking, maybe distract the guy a little. "Oh you know, the fame, the glory, the honor of fighting with someone weaker than you... All the common reasons people come to this stupid fights..." he tried to hold in a chuckle, but couldn't. What he had just said was too silly, even for him. "Who am I kidding? Those are all vacuous excuses. What really enthralls me, is the frisson of the fight," he added. A mischievous smile danced across his face. "Consider this my, eh, workout." And with that, he swung the sword as far as it would go in an attempt to catch Elliot off guard.

His eyes registered the movement of his arm and he scrambled back to get out of the way. Unfortunately, he'd registered it just a moment too late. He felt the sharp sword across his chest and the force of the blow caused him to trip and fall backwards, slamming against a boulder. He knew he couldn't stay down for long, least his attacker strike him again, so he rolled back to his feet, all the while making a fist over the area where he'd been cut. He glanced back at the man, turning himself towards him, and smirked. "That's a rather nice sword you have there," he said, straightening himself up. He pointed his own sword at him. "Now, it's my turn." He charged at him, sidestepped to the left at the last moment, then swung.

Shane smirked at the guy's petty attempts to dodge his attack, and grinned when the sword slashed at Elliot's chest. This was turning out well. He got into a defense stance when the other charged. It would have been an easy block, except for the fact that the idiot decided to sidestep at the last moment. Shane managed to react, but not quite as well as he had expected. Even if he had managed to stop Elliot's blade with his own, the other sword had deflected from his blade and managed to cut him along his torso beneath his left arm, a bit further down from the armpit. He grunted a stepped back, but didn't wait for Elliot to recover before doing a wide arc upward in the direction of Elliot's head, but swiftly attempting to kick him in along the shin as well.

The recoil from his opponent’s sword caused him to stumble back—in addition to being fast, it seemed like the guy had some power behind that slender form after all—and in trying to regain his balance, he didn’t foresee the next attacks coming. He felt his leg suddenly give out when a powerful force kicked him and he fell to one knee. He wasn’t down for long though, since his opponent’s sword came back at full speed again, this time swinging upward and slicing him right though his chin up to his forehead, spouting fresh bursts of blood onto the ground around them. He fell backwards again, dropping his sword in his dazed confusion of the sudden sharp pain in his face and momentarily blinded by the blood that was quickly dripping into his eyes. He blinked rapidly and pawed at his eyes while feeling for his sword, knowing that without it, he’d be as good as dead in just another second. He had a feeling this guy would be having no qualms with killing him. After a minute that was sixty seconds too long, his hand felt the familiar handle of his sword and he pushed himself off of the ground, ignoring the heavy protests coming from his kicked leg. He knew now that he would not be able to defeat this man—not on his own accord. He was going to have to outmaneuver him and use the land to his advantage. He saw a boulder to his left and inched his way next to it. Then he raised his sword diagonal to his chest in a defensive position and waited for him to come at him again.

While the other guy crawled away to his sword, Shane smirked. He hadn't expected such a weak and insignificant defense from someone who talked so much. He knew he shouldn't be surprised, but he still was. He slowly walked behind Elliot who had just stood up and was inching away from him. He knew he could attack again, take advantage of his opponent's weak state...but he wouldn't. Doing so would just take away the fun from this fight. Instead he did the next best thing: taunting. "What's wrong, Elliot? You ran out of smart-talk?" he said condescendingly.

Elliot merely kept his hold on his sword steady, giving Shane a glare that dared him to attack again. The man was really starting to grate on his nerves. Normally he didn't like to hurt people, but this guy...this guy was really pushing it. "You act like you've already won. Why don't you come and finish me off then, if you're so sure?" He said those words with as much confidence as he could, all while his mind fiercely begged and prayed that his plan would play out as he hoped.

Shane slitted his eyes. Elliot was planning something, he could see as much. That or the little dog was simply trying to seem powerful when clearly he was losing. Either way there was no reason to drag out his torment for long. In a swift motion he twirled his sword on his hand. "Maybe I will, maybe I won't," he muttered, looking at the ground. He tried to think of the best way to dodge the trap, if that was the case. He was sure of one thing, and that was that waiting wasn't going to do anyone good. Quickly, he jumped forward to be standing close to Elliot. As he landed, he shifted his weight to his left side and spun, lifting his right leg in the motion and pulling it around with as much strength as he could, aiming for a roundhouse kick.

Elliot stood his ground, tensing his muscles as Shane jumped into the air. His brain shouted at him to flee but he ignored the protests of logic and gritted his teeth, waiting.
                            One…
His free hand moved to his side and his fingers brushed against the straps of his pack as Shane grew dangerously closer.
                            Two.
Shane shifted his weight to the left as Elliot flipped open his pack, yanked out a white piece of clothing tipped with blue, and pushed himself with his good leg off of the ground towards the right and several feet skyward, away from the boulder that Shane was just about to connect with.

Half-way through the spin Shane realized it had been a trap after all. As Elliot left his position using the object he had pulled from his pack, which Shane couldn't see, the boulder came into sight. He tried to stop the spin and pull his leg down but the momentum was too strong. All he could do was fall, and so he did. He hadn't thought of it fast enough, so that his foot still collided with the boulder causing him pain. Still, his foot was all that had collided it due to his fall, so for now he could only hope the pain in his foot wouldn't be a disadvantage. In fact, he realized it might even be an advantage. He gathered himself and slowly pushed himself off the ground. His limb complained some, but he decided to exaggerate the pain. "Ah," he said half-heartedly, clutching at his foot. Finally he began limping towards the place where Elliot was landing, a pathetic sight for sure. Except, just as he got close to Elliot, he broke into a run ignoring the pain and swung his sword wildly, first right, then left, then stabbed.
