  • Best Moments in Video Games

In this thread, we'll be talking about the best moments in video games we've played or seen someone play. Basically, you say what game, the name of the scene, then describe why you liked it. Additionally, you can add a YouTube video that features the clip/moment you're talking about. I'll start us off with two clips/moments, just to give you guys an example of what to do.

    Game: Sonic Adventure 2
Moment: Sonic & Shadow's Third Conversation

Why I liked it: As most of you know, Sonic Adventure 2 is basically the game of my childhood. I saw this cut scene when I was a pint sized scrub, and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. The two coolest people I knew doing some epic "pre-game" talk, with the music to back it up. That "What you see is what you get" line was and still is one of my favorite lines from a video game of all time, because of how well it fits Sonic. There's also quite a bit of nostalgia in this one for me.

    Game: Saints Row IV
    Moment: Disarming the Nuke

Why I liked it: Aside from the cheesiness, I watched this clip several times after seeing it in-game. You have the characters talking about how the main character affected their lives, Aerosmith in the background, and the simplistic but epic quick-time events that somehow help you disarm a nuke heading for Washington D.C. . This moment legitimately impressed/surprised me, and gave me a very good first impression of the Saints Row universe.

    Mass Effect
Moment: No moment in particular, rather the first thing I did when let loose for the first time
Video: (I know the video is about fallout, and the video itself is a very nice watch, but the moment he covers is what I am referring to)
Why I liked it: So many games these days are focused on telling the story they want you to hear. Mass Effect proved to me in the seven minutes that I spent in that room that it is exactly the opposite. As the video mentions, I learned about the species, their homeworld, and how they have evolved to be very cautious. Also, the alien was quite unique in my opinion, something I had not witnessed before. Finally, this proved to me that Mass Effect, while it had a main story, was also not afraid to have plenty of sub-plots as well. This event, and others in the game, make the world feel more alive than any other game I've played so far.

So I'm back, or at least I will be eventually. Trying to reintegrate myself.
My 3DS Friend Code is 3437-3052-8998. I'm usually playing the MH4U demo or MH4U(When it comes out), but I'd also be down for 3DS Smash Bros.
(Note to self: The hex code is #d98fef, so don't forget it)

Moment #1: This is one I have played personnally, I call it the anni moment, it happend in shotbow, a minecraft server.
Pretty much me and my friend were going after yellow team, hardcore mode, and I got this brilliant idea.
We were sneaking in, and I started singing the mission impossible theme song.
It added so much more to the tension, but at the same time provided comic relife, we spent the next five minutes laughing about it, before doing it again.
I sing that song no matter what stealth game Im playing now O.o

Moment 2: Seananners TTT: Order in the Court.
Nannerman has never failed to make me laugh, but this one made me double over and almost puke I was laughing so hard.
I wont link it because it could be considered innapropriate and does contain many profanitys, but if you watch pewdiepie at all your good.
Pretty much nanners is sitting there in a court room, and they're all spoofing a real court battle, and just randomly mid battle Nanners calls out... I belive it was gassymexican, for having a raptor *****, and then... Oh god I have to go watch it again.
If your not offended by swearing or frequent reffrence to male gentilla, GO WATCH IT. It will be the best 3 minutes ever spent in your life.
      Ever.

Batpool, I was thinking more of stuff that happens in the games themselves, not player-created moments like the examples you used. You could say BC did a similar thing, but it was still about something in the game. But to be fair, I didn't say that player-created moments were off limits. You get away with it this time.

Skies of Arcadia - Stealing the Delphinus

I, like the OP of the clip, absolutely LOVE this moment in the game. A steampunk RPG about the dangers of Imperialism and how good intentions can ruin a world. At this moment in the game, we hit the lowest of lows. You and your entire crew are captured after surrendering, two of the seven components to a doomsday machine are stolen from you, your ship and base are all destroyed, the 'foreigner' is captured, the other woman *subtly implied* is more or less raped, and you're imprisoned in the highest security prison in the known world awaiting execution.

When the game is at its absolute lowest point and you can't figure out how to keep moving, you stage a rescue with the help of a bird and then as you make your way to the shipyards in the prison, Enrique, the Valuan Prince, intercepts you. So you escape and then you're busted by the Imperialist's Prince. He instead gives you the most highly state-of-the-art warship and joins you in your escape. That is the best way to turn around a terrible moment. Not to mention the Delphinus is a beautiful design and the Moonstone Cannon is OP as crap.

          Here's the entire clip:

Ah, Im sorry, didnt realize that.
Im more into multiplayer and crap, but singleplayer only puts a brand new spin on things.
1st moment I like to call "The Psycho Moment".
It occours in alan wakes american nightmare, pretty much, its leading up to the last battle with Mr. Scratch, and The Happy Song starts playing.
            Cool right?
Well, not so much since 2, king hillbillys and a bunch of chargers spawn in.
Unfortunatley for them, that song hypes me so much, its amazing. I plowed through them all, not taking a lick of damage, it was probably my 2nd favorite moment in the whole game.
Momdnt #2 was my #1 favorite.
But at the same time I HATED IT.
If you EVER EVER EEEVVEERR have ANY intentions, or even possible thoughts of playing alan wake within the next 500 years, DO NOT CONTINUE READING. Hearing my favorite moment is not worth spoiling the ending. Here I go.
So you've rewritten reality, mr. scratch stands in the full beam of alices recorded video at the drive in theatre. "How?" he asks, and genuinley looks shocked as his body of darkness evaporates into light.
You will see his sadistic smirk no more, I couldnt help but smile at his miserey.
Then you see alices video, her and Alan stand on the edge of a cliff as the sun sets, and share a prolonged kiss.
Alan looks, I would say devestated, and the announcer interjects "Is this a reality to be? Or is the hero of light destined to spend eternity in darkness?".
I actualy cried, knowing that the images onscreen could not be, for a very long time.
Alan returns to the darkness from wich he came, going back to despratley trying to escape it.
You meanwhile, are left with a hollow feeling inside, knowing you will not be seeing your champion of light, for a prolonged period of time.

Anyhow those are my, edited favorite moments in gaming.
            Sorry bout the miscommunication....

Ok I have to do this again, sorry?

Moment: The opening of Bioshock Infinite/Columbia Intro Sequence
Why I liked it: It's hard to describe this without spoiling the game, but I'll say this: the time from getting into the rocket to leaving the church did a bang-up job of introducing the world of the game, and the soundtrack in both the rocket and the church fit beautifully.

Moment: The ending of Bioshock Infinite
Why I liked it: Best ending I've ever seen in a game. I'll discuss it briefly spoiler-free and then discuss it with spoilers, but I remember that it turned everything on its head and threw at me a twist that I didn't expect until moments before it happened.
So I'm back, or at least I will be eventually. Trying to reintegrate myself.

I'm only just now aware of the existence of this thread lol. I also don't play that much of a variety in games, so my stuff might not be the best.

                  Game: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
                  Moment: The Ending

From this point on, please use the spoiler tags for anything that can be a spoiler. Although no complaints yet, let's keep in mind and be polite to each other that some of us would like to play these games eventually and not be ruined by it. Thanks Just to recap, there is no spoiler button, that I recall, so the tag is [spoiler] and there is the closing tag /spoiler in brackets too.
