  • Nintendo is going on Smartphones?

So I decided to google Kotaku today, check in, see what they were writing about, and I found.... This:

Oh, don't be upset. You knew this day would come. Nintendo announced today that the company has entered into a "business and capital alliance" with

WHAT? This is... Possibly the most depressing thing I have encountered since my dog died. Now I could ramble on and on about how "Angry Toads" and "Bad Koopas" are a horrible idea, but lets examine the hard facts shall we? The fact is... There are no good mobile games. ZILCH! NADA! The closest thing to good you'll get is oceanhorn and infinity blade! Anything that's actually worth a squat was ported from PC! But that isn't what worries me, the thing I'm most worried about... Is the micro transactions. Every mobile game has'em, even paid mobile games! In fact, the only "mobile" game I've played that didn't have micro transactions was the FnaF trilogy!

Of course, I could be overdramatizing the whole thing and nothing will be wrong. Discuss?
    Crap. I lost my signature!

It's really not that big of a deal because:
    a) In order to keep up with today's changing world, Nintendo took advantage of smart phones and created games for them. They have to adapt to continue making profit. If they hadn't changed from the 64 to the GC to the Wii to the WiiU, they would've gone bankrupt years ago.
    b) Most micro-transactions are not automatic, and are only triggered it the player does so themselves. They are not a required part of the game and are often only present to advance the game quicker than it normally would. (For example, purchasing more Gems to speed up a task, or in Candy Crush where you can purchase more lives instead of waiting hours for them to regenerate.)
    c) Many Nintendo fans already have smartphones. They're becoming a requirement to be viewed less as a privilege and more of a requirement such as having an automobile. By putting their games on mobile platforms, Nintendo can keep their fans happy without requiring them to get the newest handheld or console. They can also issue bug fixes in the app when it updates, and expand the app as needed, instead of finishing a game and hoping it isn't glitchy. (Like Hyrule Warriors, from what I've heard.)
    d) I don't know if you fully read the article, but it's not likely they're going to make crappy spin-offs like your "Angry Toads" and "Bad Koopas". They are going to be spinoffs, but they're only going to created by Nintendo, and use Nintendo Characters. Really not that big of a deal. Their might me some minor character changes, like Bowser slowly becoming more of a goofball than a tyrant, although keeping his evil king image or their might be major changes like Luigi going from a hero to a coward or Peach going from damsel in distress to protag.
And finally, (this being more my opinion than an argument): e) You are overreacting about this smartphone thing, it's the way of the future, and you sound like an elderly relative at thanksgiving saying "Back in my day we played with sticks in the street because we didn't have smartphones or iPads!" right before they inevitably soils themselves.
