  • We've discovered Tatooine!

Cambridge, MA (SPX) Sep 20, 2011 - Although cold and gaseous rather than a desert world, the newfound planet Kepler-16b is still the closest astronomers have come to discovering Luke Skywalker's home world of Tatooine. Like Tatooine,

I'll leave it up to speculation! What do you think?

I'd say that Tatooine doesn't exist, but the likeness is incredible for sure.

Yeah, the odds of a circumbinary desert planet in space that's an intergalactic spaceport for criminals who have the death warrant on seven systems, and ruled by a slug-like species is virtually improbable, but it's possible

Completely. The technology seems possible, the background sounds like old british seaports (no offense to any Brits out there), and give Justn Bieber slime and call him Jabba.
Okay, maybe that last part I was overeacting, but still. I agree.

as cool as it sounds, and calll me a pessimist if you wish, but i think we have better things to do than find planets that we can't inhabit. Well, I can't exactly say that, because maybe we can store "stuff" on said planet. Wouldn't be the most inteligent idea in the world but still. We need to be spending money on getting us out of debt and fixing the screwed up economy.

Well do not worry, I share the same outlook. And fortunately for you, the Obama Administration isn't funding the space program, as Master Sword said. Snd I further agree, that before we inhabit another planet, we need to prevent the destruction of ours.

I'd hardly call it the "Obama" Administration... More like the "Anti-Obama" Administration, but that's for another thread. I think we should concentrate on space travel as well as fixing the debt crisis and whatnot. What if the Vogons show up? we'll be screwed.
