  • Wind Waker, Sonic Generations, and Super Mario Galaxy 2

Hello, people of AoW. Today, I've decided to review three games. Wind Waker, Sonic Generations, and Super Mario Galaxy 2(I almost typed Galazy). I chose these games because they've taken hours of my life away. I'm not kidding. If someone made a timeline of my life, it'd probably be seperated into different eras....of video games. Anyway, I'm going to get to the point of this thread already and review the first game, Wind Waker.

Wind Waker (Warning - I can't remember everything about this game, so please excuse any mistakes in the story section)

Story - You're a lazy blonde boy who sets out on an adventure to save his sister. Short and simple, eh? Well, sorry, but as the story goes along, this talking boat tells you that you need to also stop an evil man named Ganondorf. One thing bad about this is the long process of finding Triforce pieces.

Graphics - Cel shaded to the max. Because of this, it looked like a game for little kids, so people complained about it at first. Eventually, most of those people grew to like it. Since I was a little kid when I played this game, the
    graphics never bothered me.

Gameplay - On land, you walk around killing enemies and solving puzzles with your sword and multiple different items. On the boat, you direct the wind using an item called the Wind Waker so that you can get to your destination.

Music - Epic. Just plain epic.

Characters - Most are really interesting, but some just stay the same throughout the entire game, saying the same lines over and over again.

Verdict and Reason : 8.9 . The game did have its good moments, but sailing can be quite a bore. Not to mention all the times you can mess up playing a song on the Wind Waker and all the times you have go to Tingle to get a map deciphered during the Triforce Piece Hunt.

    Sonic Generations

Story - Sonic is celebrating his 20th birthday with his pals when a purple monster steals Sonic's friends. Sonic, determined to stop it, tries to hit it with a homing attack, only to be knocked out. He wakes up in a white world and sees a very familiar place in front of him. After returning some life to the place and finding Tails, Sonic goes on to return life to more familiar places and team up with a younger version of himself.

    Gameplay -
Modern Sonic : This Sonic is for the fans that either grew up with this Sonic or are letting go of the past and moving on to the new. Whether you're dodging enemies, making certain platforms go faster using the most over used Modern Sonic skill of all time, or going on Jump Panels, Modern Sonic is all about speed. Modern maintains his Stomp and Wall Jump from Sonic Unleashed, his Boost from Sonic Rush, and his Homing Attack from Sonic Adventure. In other words, there's no doubt that this guy is the fastest thing alive.

Classic Sonic : Equiped with the Spin Dash, this younger, chubby version of Sonic is back and ready for action. From stomping Metal Sonic to eliminating enemies he's never seen before, Classic Sonic delievers the fun platforming gameplay found in the Genesis games. While it doesn't maintain the same difficulty, Sega has done well making this Sonic adapt to the Dreamcast and Modern era levels. In fact, if you collect all Red Star Rings in a certain act, you can use the Homing Attack with Classic Sonic! Anyway, to make up for the lack of ablities, Sega has brought back the Elemental Shields from Sonic 3 & Knuckles. When used in the right levels, these shields can be a big help. When I say big help, I mean BIG help.

    Graphics - Friggin awesome.

Music - Recreations from music of past Sonic games. Which means that the soundtrack is awesome sauce pie.

Characters- Basically all the characters from Sonic Heroes and two characters from Sonic Next Gen. Sadly, only both Sonics and both Tails change.

Verdict and Reason - 9.5 . The game certainly has alot of replay value, great music, and light humor, but its just too short and the controls can mess up at times.

I'll post the SMG2 post in a seperate post so that this post isn't huge D:

    Super Mario Galaxy 2

Story - 100 years after the last game, its time for the Star Festival! As Mario, you rescue a Luma head to the castle and find out that Bowser is a giant. This Giant Bowser kidnaps the princess and escapes into a black hole thingy. More Lumas come along and help you get to this spaceship thingy that looks alot like your head, which you use to get to the next level.

Gameplay - You go through worlds clearing levels that include platforming, puzzles, Yoshi, and various powerups. Also, you can have a friend help you out by taking another Wii Mote and stunning enemies.

Graphics - Almost the same as SMG1, but improved.

Characters - To sum it up, Mario, Peach, Bowser, and the Lumas.

Verdict and Reason - 8.0 . Even though it is outstanding, it is too much like SMG1.

You need to revise and rewrite your gameplay. You're explaining the control scheme; you need to tell us how the game plays, and what kind of stuff you can do. This is where you explain what you can do in the game.
So I'm back, or at least I will be eventually. Trying to reintegrate myself.
My 3DS Friend Code is 3437-3052-8998. I'm usually playing the MH4U demo or MH4U(When it comes out), but I'd also be down for 3DS Smash Bros.
(Note to self: The hex code is #d98fef, so don't forget it)

You can technically review a game any way you want. Its not like there's some specific way to review a game. It's HIS opinion. Gosh.

All I'm saying is, it's not that hard to put down controls. Now I'm wondering, how does Sonic Generations work, how does the game flow, what kind of structure do the levels have?
