  • The Theory of Reincarnation

(Remember I'm atheist and I am taking a different outlook on things here... bear with me.)

Now... there are people who believe in reincarnation. Not necessarily being risen from the dead, but rather, your spirit inhabiting the body of someone else, or, for lack of a better term, a newborn.

Some believe your 'spirit' just goes kaput. I personally disagree.

The very nature of energy states that 'Energy cannot be destroyed. It can only be transferred or converted to a different form.' For those of you who disagree, you're probably wrong. But anyways(Bear with me now)...

We can assume that our 'spirits' are a form of energy, correct? Perhaps not a conventional form, such as kinetic or chemical or potential, etc. but a 'spiritual energy'(again, bear with me now). So this 'reincarnation' is simply a transferring of energy, and this very theory reinforces the speculation that our spirits exist elsewhere. It could also be twisted to contribute to the theories of ghosts and the afterlife and whatnot.

So? Thoughts? Comments? Comments on the terrible point I am trying to make in a terrible manner?

(Sorry about the misunderstanding. I said that because my memory of actuallly going to church and he just of the sermons decided to play a game wih me. Pretend that never said Christian.)

So I'm back, or at least I will be eventually. Trying to reintegrate myself.
My 3DS Friend Code is 3437-3052-8998. I'm usually playing the MH4U demo or MH4U(When it comes out), but I'd also be down for 3DS Smash Bros.
(Note to self: The hex code is #d98fef, so don't forget it)

I actually don't think it is a terrible theory. You brought up some interesting points. I would like to comment however that a lot of people would disagree however. Either way, I guess even if I believe in heaven, reincarnation is still possible. I don't know, I just like to think that whatever one thinks will happen when they die happens, so this theory is as true as any.
Also, I'd like to point out this theory is touching a bit of religious matters, so I think it'd be better suited in the Serious Topics forum. However, that's merely my opinion.

      I personally believe in Reincarnation.
When you die, your spirit leaves your body, and your body becomes whatever your will states, or whatever your family/hospital does with it.
Your spirit goes to a new body, one that is just being born or hatching, whichever it is, and you live out your new life.

I'm not sure where I stand on this, I believe in the spirit or soul or whatever you wanna call it and that there is something after death, but that's it.

Well...hopefully we can discuss this without being offensive idiots.

Me, personally, I am a Christian. I should start by saying that BC saying he is approaching reincarnation from a Christian standpoint is a fallacy. Christians do not embrace the notion of reincarnation (the transferring of the soul from one body to another). Christians embrace the notion of "once you die, your soul transcends to a higher plane of existence (heaven)". I feel that I should say this, so as to avoid misinterpretation of Christian doctrine (if it is at all mentioned again).

Now, we are talking about Reincarnation, or as the thread calls it, the THEORY of reincarnation.

Generally speaking I have a hard time accepting the fact that we are being recycled. It seems to me, that with world population going up, there are more and more people on the planet on a daily basis. So where are the souls coming from? Are they just...appearing? Are they being manufactured by a God? Who knows. If you don't understand what I just said, let me rephrase it. If the body and soul are two separate parts, the body being the husk, and the soul being the essence, eventually, the number of husks will outnumber the number of essences or souls. So does that mean some people are born without souls? I doubt it...

BC said that the soul is like energy. Lets assume for a moment that this energy is what powers a body, a husk. Combining a soul and a husk make a living person. It is not farfetched if you think about it. We have advanced to the point where we can take a husk, literally a dead body, replace all the organs with fresh functioning ones...but we simply cannot create the essence of life to make this body a living person, despite the fact that this body is PERFECTLY healthy. This is a pretty good argument for the notion that a body needs a soul to live, which is why we cannot reverse death after a period of time, we cannot reverse death after a soul has completely left a person's body.

So what is that energy? Are we that energy or are we the brains that the energy powers? If a soul is just free flowing energy...what is controlling it? What is stopping that energy from just going off into nowhere after a body releases it. There is a principle in science called entropy, which states that both open and closed matter or energy will devolve into a chaotic and destructive state UNLESS it is controlled by a greater power. If a soul is just pure energy, how would it have the capacity to not break down into chaos and destruction when trying to find a new body? With entropy in consideration, the answer is...it can't.

What I am suggesting is that WE ARE that energy...

Which brings me back to why I do not subscribe to reincarnation. Simply put...if we are beings who ARE that energy, controlling where it goes, how it acts, and keeping it in order and harmony...then would we not remember our past lives? Our collective experiences should be known to the greater entity...should it not? I don't recall any past lives. I dunno if you guys and gals do...but I sure as hell don't.

In short...one body, one soul, one life...

Sorry for the wall of text. Hopefully you guys read that and give your thoughts.

This was very well written and I completely agree with you. I personally do not agree with reincarnation for many of these reasons mentioned here, particularly with me being a christian and in the bible there is no mention of any sort of reincarnation.
