  • Battle of the Genders

Hello! If you're reading this then you're already taking part in one of the most debated topics in human history! Boys versus Girls. Man versus Woman. You know the one. I realized this might be a fun topic to discuss/debate and an interesting one as well. Anyone can take part in it. Here you can debate a variety of topics:
Who is better, a man or a woman?
Is it harder to be a man/boy or a woman/girl?
What *** is smarter? Stronger? More important?
Would it be worse if men died out, or if women died out?
And any others you guys/gals can think of!
I realize some of these topics might need arguments that can classify as ***ual, so I wasn't sure if this should go in Serious Topics or not. Mods feel free to move it.
Also feel free to discuss stereotypes that demoralize men and women. (ex: Men are pervs and are unable of being romantic! OR Girls are too emotional and weak!)
As always, all normal site rules apply. No flaming, harassing, etc. You can say your honest opinion about anything, just make sure to keep it respectful even if you don't agree with the other person. I'll jump into the debate later on.
Also, if you're a man and would like to make a point in the favor of women, or the other way around, feel free to do so. You won't be any less of a man/woman if you do so.
Remember, everyone can add to the argument! So battle away!

Well, I have an opinion that may be interesting to some of you.

I believe men and women are equal. They are both as good as each other, and they have their own challenges. They can be as strong as the other. They are both important, because if you took away either of them, then humans would go extinct.

And yes, while certain men/women may have bad traits, if you and a person with those bad traits are the last two people alive, and you think the other person is an *******, then you'll be remembered as the ******* who wiped out humanity by aliens or other animals.

Challenge me if you dare. I don't care.

Oh hey, a debate! I love debating! Let me just see what the topic i--

      BATTLE OF THE GENDERS

      ~

For every stereotype you can come up with for a gender, you can always find the same thing in the opposite gender. So I'm going to have to say that when you sum it all up, the genders balance each other out and are equal.

I think that both genders are equal in most areas. There are some places you'd only expect girls, some only guys. However, it's not uncommon to see the other there. Both genders have their own strengths and weaknesses.

One question J mentioned was "Is it harder to be a boy or a girl?" In my opinion, a girl. For two reasons, although they could be counted as one. Periods, and childbirth. Guys don't have to suffer from them. Girls do. End of story.

The fact of childbirth and periods may be true, HBC, but that isn't enough to say that it is entirely harder to be a girl. After all girls have more freedom. A girl is allowed to cry, scream, to be scared, to act weak, and most people will be ok with it. However, if a boy cries publicly for example at school, people may name-call him, bully him, and tell him "not to be such a girl." In a lot of places if a boy wears a certain color, like pink, they will be bullied, while if a girl wears almost anything no one will mind. Periods may happen every month, and childbirth may be a lot of pain, but they will eventually stop. The psychological trauma left on a boy for being bullied might not. I know this may not be good enough to prove that it's harder to be a boy, but I think it should at least cut them some slack. Girls might not get it easy, but certainly boys don't either.

J guys are allowed to do the same thing, it is only idiotic people who believe emotions make people "weak" if I saw a guy crying, I wouldnt think he was weak, I would think he was strong, only the strongest of us can express out emotions. I can admit to being a weak person because I have trouble expressing my emotions.

HBC is right, childbirth and periods equal harder to be a girl.

Honestly, I think they are equal. I must disagree that women have more freedom, J. On average, a woman will only make 75% of what a man makes. We are constantly looked down upon and are told we belong at home, at least where I live we are. I can't even help my boyfriend for a day because his boss won't allow women on the work site and his partner wasn't there. If I voice my likes (which happen to be things that "only guys are supposed to like"), then people say I'm weird and I don't get to have very many friends. I have been told to my face that the only good woman is one who does not talk much. I have also been told, to my face, that a man should always make more money than a woman. On the flip-side, I also think it's wrong that men are expected to be the protectors and are supposed to not show their emotions. Think of how much better our lives and relationships would be if we could just be ourselves!

I do really agree that periods and childbirth sucks. I have hormonal issues that cause me to pass out randomly right before I start, which definitely makes my life more difficult. Also, ***ism is more prevalent against women, at least in the horrible town I live in. So, at least here, being a woman sucks more.

Regardless of what I said before, I really do believe men and women should be treated equally. However, they're not. However I do admit that my point was pretty loose since it's true women face many of the issues I mentioned. However, I still say women don't have it harder. But I am willing to say we both have it equally hard for different reasons. I'm sorry that women face so much ***ism in our lives, but I will mention that men also face ***ism, the only difference is that men's ***ism isn't as broadly advertised as women's. Even with periods and childbirth, I have to say it's not enough to make them have a harder life.
But, like I said, I have to agree that both men and women have it equally hard : D

Oh I definitely don't disagree that men face a huge degree of ***ism as well. Just where I live, women do have it harder. It seems like it isn't as bad in the city though... I live in a VERY small VERY southern town and people here are VERY opinionated and believe women should be submissive. That's DEFINITELY not me, so I'm out of here as soon as possible haha. I guess it kind of depends on where you live.

Really, periods are very painful. They make me feel very sick, pass out, have horrid cramps that bring me to tears, and give me migraines that make me feel like I'm going to throw up, so I still think that at least makes it slightly more difficult to be a girl.
