  • Top 5 Reasons to GET HYPED for HYRULE WARRIORS!

Hey guys, Batpool here bringing you an article Ive been wanting to write for a long time, but it wouldnt quite fit on PMC.
Now I know theres been alot of drama over a paticularly....
"Buxom" villaines, but Im still hyped because its utterley rediculouse to boycott a game for one character, and honestly I didnt even notice til I saw the whining, so if I ever get a wii U (Wich I probably will) HW will be the first game I buy.
So without further ado, here's your list:

    #5: Better Story:
All zelda games have fallen prey, to the SAME STORY EVERY FRICKING TIME.
Every new games story was just a regurgitated version of the others (Always have to visit elemental temples, always saving the princess, always fighting an ancient evil, etc.), with this new gameplay style, we wont be bount to the: Certain number of temples, formula.

    #4: Playing As Diffrent Characters:
Not that theres anything wrong with playing as our iconic green clad hero, but its going to be awsome having the ability to play as other characters besides him *cough*lemmeplayasdampéorillmurderyou*cough*.

#3: Crossover World?: I dont know about you guys, but those bokoblins sure looked like the guys from skyward sword, but if thats the case, then whats Impa doing in the game? Im betting, on the first full blown zelda game crossover, however this might also mean, its just a spin off, wich is what many people have written it off as, but Ill wait and play the game before I give it that title.

    #2: Online Multiplayer:
From the trailer, it certainly looks like it has room for online multiplayer, wich would be awsome, as long as the community stays mature, I dont want the f–bomb dropped in my living room.

    #1: Awsomeness Level = BAD4$$:
Lets just be honest here, the game, looks kick fricking butt.
From the epic looking combos and items, to links bada$$ scarf.
    Dat scarf...
    Me want dat scarf.

Anyways, thanks for reading, Id love to hear what you guys think on the subject.
Thanks for reading, I also wouldnt mind feedback on my writing skills.
    Til next time:

    Critism mode activated:

#5: Not ALL Zelda games require you to save the Princess. In fact, in two games I can list off the top of my head Zelda isn't even in it in the base game. That's both of the Oracle games. And, if I'm not mistaken, she isn't really in any of the other spin-off/side games where the plot isn't even saving the Princess. (I.E. Link's Crossbow Training, Tingle's Rupeeland, etc.)

#4 and #3: Although playing as different characters is new, it's not completely new. For example, you have the Super Smash Bros. series where you can play as Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf. Additionally, HW looks like it will be placed circa Skyward Sword era, which, if that's the case, Impa isn't a crossover. She was in Skyward Sword. Do your research. Additionally, who *actually* cares about Dampe? He was a one-off NPC that had no real purpose. Virtually useless.

#2: Multiplayer is a win and would be newer, however, it's not totally new. There has been multiplayer Zelda games before like Four Swords and Four Swords Adventure. It really wouldn't be so much as a new concept, just a rekindling of an older concept. Additionally, F-bombs will still be common amongst gamers. I would suggest that if you don't want to hear swear words, don't censor your own and instead use different words altogether. It makes you look like a hypocrite and nobody likes a hypocrite.

#1: Finally, Link wearing a scarf IS a new idea, however, it's not a new Nintendo phenomena. Modernizing older characters is something that's happening with another mainstream fandom:

    Criticism Mode Ended.

Ok on the issue of playing as diffrent characters and crossovers: I think I know what your talking about when you say Impa was in skyward sword, I dont recall them calling her Impa tho. And furthermore, *Dampé, and Dampé is one of the best characters in the whole freakin serise! Without him we would have never got the hookshot, + hes just a general bad4$$ all around.
And I didnt know we counted Smash Bros as a LoZ game in any way shape or form...
On the issue of online multiplayer: I do not personnaly care if anyone uses cuss words, but having that in my living room would massivley reduce my online play with it on account of: Siblings.
On the issue of story: The oracle games? Ive never heard of them.
And god forbid you make reffrence to those 2 dastardly computer games, for future reffrence: THEY NEVER EXISTED.
And on the topic of modernizing characters: They dont seem to have realy done anything with mario...
But I guess theres sonic boom...

Anyways thanks for the critiscism, always lookin for feedback.

Any Zelda characters who play a big role in a game count. Side games are Zelda games. They simply don't belong in the timeline because they don't impact the overall story. Before claiming that the story is all the same, please educate yourself further in the series. Impa was called Impa in SS. I haven't played it and even I know that.

Dampe is useless. Although he's in multiple games he never makes an impact. True you get the hookshot from him in Ocarina of Time, but that doesn't make him important. Link could have easily taken a shovel and dug up the hookshot instead as a different mini-game, or navigate the graves to find the chest at the bottom, closer to the windmill. He's simply useless and could easily be cut out of a game.

Dampé has helped out with more than the hookshot!
In ALBW he leads you to a secret passage allowing you to enter into the churchy thingy,
In the minish cap he communicates with the dead king in order to get you into a dungeon, and on top of that, just thing for a second: How does this dude manage to survive in a grave yard that the freakin hero of time could pontentialy die in?
Why was he chosen as grave keeper?
Well, I think the answer is probably, because he can KILL FREAKING ZOMBIES WITH A SHOVEL.
I mean, think about it, there are poes, and probably some re-dead that lurk the graveyard, so why not get a castle gaurd to cut them down a size?
Simple: Dampé is deadlyer with a shovel than the castle gaurds are with their swords.
On top of all this, he is one of the only characters besides the lead roles a beedle, that stays the same every game.
My theory is that Dampé and Beedle are actualy immortal, I mean c'mon, even Link and Zelda change game to game, but Dampé and Beedle stay the same every game.
Now that theory might be a bit far fetched, but I still cant figure out why you would call Dampé useless when there are several parts in the serise you could not possibly do without him

I have been reading this thread, and I am amused.

So amused...that I will weigh in and put my opinion out there. Those of you who need it...feel free to take cover as I join the conversation. Are you satisfied with your level of cover? Yes? Good. Time to topple this house of cards.

            First:
How does this dude manage to survive in a grave yard that the freakin hero of time could pontentialy die in? Why was he chosen as grave keeper? Well, I think the answer is probably, because he can KILL FREAKING ZOMBIES WITH A SHOVEL.
Dampe is actually a coward. Go an play Majoras Mask, and you will EXACTLY how big of a coward he is. The following is a quote from the Zeldapedia article on Dampe.

Dampé is the gravekeeper of Ikana Graveyard in Termina. His house is always locked, although Link can still enter it by other means. During the day, Dampé can be found walking around the graveyard. If Link is wearing the Captain's Hat and tries to talk to Dampé while in the graveyard, Dampé panics, says that the ghosts are out, runs back to his house, and locks the door behind him.
            According to Batpool:

I mean, think about it, there are poes, and probably some re-dead that lurk the graveyard, so why not get a castle gaurd to cut them down a size? Simple: Dampé is deadlyer with a shovel than the castle gaurds are with their swords.
No...Dampe is a coward. He is not suitable to be any kind of hero. Here is more proof:

Blue flames can be found beneath three random sand pits. Once all three have appeared, a Big Poe appears and scares Dampé away. Once the Big Poe is defeated, a Treasure Chest appears with a bottle inside it. Oddly enough, it appears that Dampé's house is connected to the Big Poe's secret chamber; if Link follows Dampé's path after he runs from the Big Poe, he ends up in Dampé's hut, where he can be found cowering underneath his bed.
Quod Erat Demonstrandum. Dampe is a coward.

Lets look at OoT and Four Swords, in order to prove that Dampe is useless.

When Link is an adult in OoT, Dampé is dead.
He is dead. Dead people make terrible heroes. As a ghost, he is pretty useless. Also...

Dampé is the gravekeeper of the Graveyard within The Swamp. While he serves little purpose to the plot, he warns Link that he should not be out so late and tells Link about the Forest of Light.
Quod Erat Demonstrandum. Dampe is useless.

Granted, he may have had limited utility in ALBW...but it does not mean he is indispensable. Like...anyone can be a grave keeper, but it takes an exceptional person to do things like...

-Summon the power of Gods for use in combat.
            -Own the Triforce of Courage.
-Slaughter countless things to save the precious punany...I mean Princess Zelda.
            -Wield the Master Sword.
            -Travel through time.
            -Murder Ganon on countless occasions.
-Be able to summon in-climate weather, heal the wounds of people, and travel around the planet with nothing more than a wind instrument.
-Ride a female horse that is in ***ual maturity. Not an easy feat. (FYI...in the Gallo-Roman religion - Epona was the goddess of Fertility AND protector of horses, donkeys, and mules. It proves my point).
            -Abuse helpless Chickens.
-Transform into a Dog, a Human, A Goron, A Zora, a Deku, and a God at will, provided he has the right equipment.
-Hang around with Faries (Navi), evil faries (Tatl), and Ghosts from the Twilight Realm (Midna)
-Shoot laser beams from his swords.

            What I just listed...was Link's Resume.

Dampe's Resume, his curriculum vitae so to speak, is as follows.

            -Die.
            -Cower under his bed.
            -Dig up dead bodies.

I just turned your house of cards...into a game of 52 pickup. Care to play again?

Sorry, just had to butt in for a quick comment. Kairu, Zelda does appear in the Oracle games, it's just a brief visit at the end where she thanks Link for his service. However, your point is valid. After all, she only appears as a flashback in Majora's Mask, and she isn't even mentioned in Awakening.

As for Dampe, I have to agree with NC. My first meeting of him was running from that Poe in Majora's Mask and finding him under the bed, shaking and whimpering about how he "ain't seen nothing and don't know nothing". Long laugh I had after that. He's always struck me as a simpleton, truth be told. I mean, his expression alone and the way he acts and dresses, and having the job of literally digging holes. How can he be anything but a poor, scared little moron?

Now as for the original goal of this thread, Hyrule Warriors does look rather interesting, and I love the way the graphics turn out. Not really fond of Link's scarf, though. I mean, sure, it's a pretty color, and I've always felt Link looked better in the blue Zora Tunic than the Kokiri, but blue and green don't mix, especially in those vibrant shades. And why the heck would Link wear a scarf anyways? It really doesn't strike me as the warrior/hero he's supposed to be, but as a mercenary. :/ Is pretty though, and I'd snatch it in a heartbeat if I didn't live in sun-baked Texas. :P

                Have you met me?
Of cpurse Im ready to play again, even tho this has vastly veered off topic.
#1: Wait, pickup 52, so thats the real name of cowboys and indians!
                Curse you father.
#2: Dampé would be a coward in that universe.
You forget the LoZ serise has 3 timelines, 3 diffrent possibilitys for Dampé's existence.
The death of him can easily be bypassed via ressurection, reincarnation, etc.
#3: On the topic of him being a coward...
You actualy made me laugh, trying to imagine him waddlerunning away from the undead.
But in all seriousness, in minish cap he communes with the dead spirits, and in OoT when poes pop up he doesnt seem to give a $#!7 about them.
I actualy didnt even know he was in majoras mask, because that games concept of rewinding time and losing all progress frustrated me to no end.
And if he is "dead" in OoT how does a man with the exact same name, and look, pop up in Majoras Mask?
In spirit tracks, Zelda was just about as well off as Dampé and she was able to have her soul stuffed back into her body.
Ok Im done now, this conversation is utterley pointless but whatever, Im to stubborn to shut my mouth.

Batpool, here's how Dampe is dead in Majora's Mask. I've linked (see what I did there?) to this video once before, but to refresh the memory: Link is actually dead in Majora's Mask as each area of the game is a stage of grief and as you progress through Majora's Mask's story, you advance through the stages of grief where Link finally comes to terms with his own death at the beginning of Majora's Mask (where he was in the Lost Woods and fell to his death where you then get the whacky LSD mindtrip). NPCs were ported to Majora's Mask to save production money (in real life) as well as fuel the story that Link is in purgatory waiting to place himself in his equivalent to the afterlife. Further case-and-point, look at the Official Timeline, specifically the Child Era branch. The entire Child Timeline is as follows:

                  Skyward Sword>Minish Cap>Four Swords>Ocarina of Time>Majora's Mask>Twilight Princess>Four Swords + Hyrule Adventure

This timeline supports the "Link is dead in MM" theory since there's the Shade in Twilight Princess who claims to be the Hero of Time and is left handed. For full details, I encourage you watch this video:

Yes I see what you did there *facepalm*.
I cant see vids and pics via 3DS but I assume you're reffering to game theory, in wich case, well I have a few more points to point out.
Game theory states that termina is likley, Links own purgatory, wich would mean no one in it was real.
                    Just shattered memories.
And if everything was symbolic, that would mean Dampés cowardice, is bolth fake and symbolic, a figment of Links imagination.
Wich would also mean he fails to reincarnate/come back to life in the other games.
However, why is the same character model used in every game?
As far as I know him, and maybey the farmer and malon are the only character designs that have stood the test of time and been reused in multiple games.
Unless a game was a direct sequel to the one previous to it, in wich case the link model was reused.
