  • Staff Talk: Member banning

In short, some of the staff got on gmail the other night and began discussing about Blendercat, particularly whether or not he should be banned. The matter was brought up by Z because he didn't get to put in input during the incident on TNO. So we began discussing what to do about Blender. Most of the staff feel that he should be banned, or should be fairly close to it. Basically where if he screws up one more time, in any way, he's done. I however, agree with the latter in the sense that I've considered the TNO incident closed and done. Therefore, in order to appease my conscience, I would need a new, valid reason to approve of a banning. That's where we begin to come to an impass. This is now up to the point to where I want everyone's opinion on Blender, whether or not he should be banned, and your reasoning why. If there is other details related to Blender or the amended forum rules from the TNO incident you wish to add, then by all means bring it up. This is the one chance to bring it all up and where we act as a whole unit. Again, please, your opinion matters.

Okay, since I have a clear mind now, I will restate my stance.

Kairu, as you might remember from the Gmail talk, my position was "Yes, ban him". However, I didn't mean exactly ban him, but maybe just SB ban him. As HBC said, he is only a pain on the shoutbox, but he is fairly good as a roleplayer. However, if you decided to do a permanent ban, I will be fine with that, because as I said on Gmail, most of Blendercat's actions outside of the the RPG were either getting in fights with other members and tarnishing the site's image. I use were because these are things of the past, but (with me at least) his presence bothers me because of his history on Age of War.

So, my final position is "If he stays, shoutbox ban him."

Yeah, I thought of that just a little while ago about shoutbox banning him. It would be a fair treatment at the moment as you said, he is one a pain on the shoutbox. Roleplaying, he's not bad. A little impatient, among other members, but that isn't a failing or reason to dislike him more.

Honestly, I'm a little torn on the issue. We don't have a TON of members, so I would be realllllyyyyy hesitant to permanently ban anyone, because I've heard the site is kind of dwindling anyway. That being said, BC is an annoyance on the SB here, and he was an embarrassment on TNO. Something tells me he would scare anyone wanting to join AoW away... He is a decent roleplayer though, so I don't think we should ban him from the site itself unless he gives us a really good reason to do so outside of the SB. So what I think is we should send him a message explaining how his conduct is unacceptable on the SB. If he misbehaves on the SB, I say ban him for a week from the SB. If he screws up a second time, permanently ban him from the SB. That way he can't say we didn't warn him and we aren't losing any roleplayers.

I agree with Ryli, and she has a point.
Basically, give him another warning, and then ban him from the SB
