Vaeln walked into the Maku Tree's area, one tomahawk glistening in his hand. He had soaked the blade in a flammable fluid, and he had a small gem that would allow him to set fire to it only once. The Maku Tree spoke to him. "What is your business here! I must demand that you sheath your weapon!" Vaeln almost laughed when he said this. He twirled the tomahawk, which made it shine in the strong moonlight. "Oh, you see... it is you who should be scared." He raised the crystal. "I have come to claim the power of Holodrum, and avenge my parents who were killed! I need this power!" Energy flowed from the crystal onto the tomahawk, instantly igniting it. He poised his arm, ready to throw. "Any last words?" The Maku Tree seemed at terms with what was to come. "What will you accomplish in your violent conquest? Avenging two people?"
"That is where you're wrong! I will finally have power. I will be able to accomplish what I please, when I please! And you won't be able to stand in my way!" He hurled the tomahawk, and it embedded itself above the Maku Tree's forehead. He showed no sign of pain as the flame spread, enveloping his entire body and sending a column of black smoke into the air. A huge crowd gathered around, yelling at what they were witnessing. Vaeln turned, spreading his arms, his face enveloped in shadow from the raging fire. He yelled across the crowd, "People of Holodrum! Your great Maku Tree has fallen! I, Vaeln Ailsgard, am your new ruler!"
SOME HOURS LATER
Vaeln returned to the burned carcass of the tree. Only the base of the trunk remained, with charred, burnt sticks and twigs lying in the circle of ash. He saw a glint, and reached down, picking up the tomahawk. Miraculously, the wooden handle was fully intact, and ht brushed ash from the blade and put it back on his waist. He turned, going back into the village. His rule was not being totally accepted, but they had seen his power and, for the time being, were not making attempts to kill him. He smiled. This was going to go just fine.

Vaeln was crouched against a tree, pondering what he had done. He needed to gain these people's trust if he wished to rule. He looked up. Summoning a young man who somehow had that 'loud-mouthed' feel to him, he asked him to call the villagers to the center of the city. He proceeded to do so, almost violently, running through the streets, and a large crowd began to gather. He stood on a makeshift podium of a wide log, and lowered his hood. He tried to hide the smirk on his face. "Now, as you may now, I have recently come into power of this nation." He paused for an angry rally from the crowd. "Now, yes, I understand why you would be reacting in such a manner. I was, I'll admit, awfully brash after that. Gaining this kind of power so suddenly does that to a man, you know." He paused slightly, in case the crowd reacted. They didn't. He sighed, then resumed. "You probably don't need to be reminded that our nation is currently at war with Labrynna and Hyrule." A slight murmur of unpleased citizens. Vaeln couldn't blame them. "Now, as it stands, most of our forces are deployed. They are certainly strong men, but this is what I fear. We have no clue as to what Hyrule and Labrynna may have up their sleeves! What if they bring out an entire battalion of highly trained fighters? We could be wiped out? They'd advance, conquering this nation and doing who knows what to us!" Another murmur from the crowd. Vaeln hid a smirk. Something like that was highly unlikely.
Ailun saw that almost no one was in Horon Village. He then heard noise from the central square. He walked there, to see a man in a white cloak giving a speech, proclaiming himself as the ruler. He quickly proceeded to speak about the war. Without knowing it, Ailun slowly stepped to the front of the crowd.
Vaeln let the noise settle down. "Now, here is what I request. Strong young men," he paused, then quickly added, "and women, who are willing to assist me in the war on these attacking nations." A slight cheer from the crowd. That was good. They were warming up to him. "Now, as you may know, we aren't exactly 'rolling' in supplies." He took a breath, then resumed, "So anyone who has their own weaponry or armor, you'll probably be using that." He thought breifly. He would need a sort of base. "Also, I ask for the assistance of architects, carpenters, and the like to assist me in restoring Moblin's Keep into the great Castle of Holodrum!" A cheer from the crowd. This certainly was going well. "Now, if you're with me, come up here! If not, please return to your homes or your workplace."
He waited. A man in a black cloak was the first to step up. He had some sort of lance, or spear, with a gem on it. His cloak, neck and arms had strange markings. "I'll join you." He seemed to start something, as people began volunteering, most to restore Moblin's Keep, but that was no matter. The more, the quicker it gets done. Vaeln smiled. This was going perfectly.
