As the sun dipped beneath the horizon a guard atop of Hyrule Castle Town's walls started to recline and fall asleep. It had been another boring day at Castle Town. The guard lit a lamp to keep his immediate surroundings illuminated and the sound of the drawbridge echoed through the area. He looked out to Southern Hyrule Field and in the distance was nothing but darkness. Ordona now was a silhouette against the falling sun. The guard then turned to his right and looked at Castle Town slowly going to bed and virtually becoming a ghost town.

The guard then leaned his chair back and he started to snooze. A couple hours had passed by when his body started to shut down and the one second the chair felt like it was going to fall backwards, the guard scrambled to get the chair under control. He looked up and there was a single torch in the far distance hailing from Gerudo Desert. "Blimey, don't they know we don't open the drawbridge until morning?" The guard said to himself, mumbling at the Gerudo stupidity.

The guard leaned back and fell back to sleep. When he opened his eyes again, there were now countless torches in the distance, all spread out over a kilometer in length and was several yards back that he could see. "What in the...," the guard spoke quietly trying to figure out what was causing that many moving torches to head towards Castle Town. He shouted out to the next tower outpost where another soldier was stationed. They convened between the two posts and the torches grew in numbers exponentially.

The soldiers continued to watch as the sea of torches came to a stop about 5 kilometers away from Castle Town's walls. Suddenly, the guards saw boulders ignite like fireballs. Suddenly, the fireballs were launched at the walls. The guards were horrified at the audacity of the assailants. The two men scrambled to get back to their posts when the second guard's post and section behind him were damaged and nearly destroyed by the catapults. The first guard managed to return his post. He rang the large bell to alert the others and Hyrule Castle of the assault. He didn't last more than a minute when an arrow struck him in the back of the torso, piercing through the heart. He fell forward and over the edge of the wall.

Hylians emerged from their homes to see why the bell was being rung to see the wall on fire and slowly being destroyed. Panic soon swept through Castle Town. Princess Zelda looked out her window to the same horror of the townsfolk. She ordered for the remainder of the troops to rally together and protect Hyrule. However, due to the tensions in Ordona, Hyrule was very much vulnerable. The first wave of soldiers penetrated the outer walls and began assaulting Castle Town. They ransacked and burned reputable establishments that they'd heard stories about. They also began to kill many of the Hylians and townsfolk who lived there.

Soon, although, highly untimely a bulk of the remaining Hylian military confronted the invading army. Come to find out, to their horror, the army was a mix of different species, allied together for some unknown reason their leaders knew. Among several of the soldiers were shadow beasts from the Twilight Realm, Gerudo from the Desert, Moblins, Stalfoses, and ReDeads. This invasion force was also commanded by Zant, Ganondorf's Second-in-Command. Zant ordered the utter annihilation of Castle Town.

Many of the citizens temporarily took refuge, however, many of the mobins and shadow beasts found the citizens and killed them. When Zant felt that his message was clear, he turned his focus on Hyrule Castle, the largest building in all of the world. The monumental size of Hyrule Castle even took Zant's breath away for a moment only to very quickly be replaced by his orders, as well as the digust of Hylians.

The shadow beasts darted across the bridge to the castle. They led the army and cleared a path, eliminating the rest of the soldiers in the surrounding courtyard. The army had spread out and made a path for Zant straight to the throne room where Princess Zelda was. Several shadow beasts surged through the room, killing or mid-killing soldiers when Zant entered. Zant ordered Zelda to step down or die. Her fate also being the decision for all of Hyrule.

Zelda surrendered sparing the thousands of lives in Hyrule in exchange for her capture. Zant ordered the rest of the castle to be burned to the ground with the rest of Castle Town. For the longest ways, smoke could be seen for days rising against the blue sky and also blocking out the sun within several hundred kilometers. Soon the Twilight Realm invaded the light world. It was because of the merging of the two realms that Hyrule Castle stayed, for the most part, intact. The center keep was nearly perfect, while the outer towers were badly damaged. Zelda was then taken prisoner in one of the towers. While being held captive, Ganondorf arrived to take control of Hyrule Castle from Zant. To keep intruders out, Ganondorf casted a magic barrier that blocked anybody or anything coming in. However, after several days, Zelda, with the help of Impa, her attendant, fled Castle Town.

On the way out of town, Ganondorf pursued the two women and that's where Link "found" the Ocarina of Time, Zelda's precious instrument and the final key to obtaining entry into the Sacred Realm. Ganondorf toys with Link momentarily but resumes chasing Zelda, oblivious to Zelda's relinquishment of the Ocarina. Link proceeded to the Temple of Time and opened the Door of Time as well as removing the Master Sword, opening a path straight to the Triforce and the Sacred Realm. However, for some reason, Link is now missing.

Where could Link be? Perhaps Ganondorf killed him in the Sacred Realm and stole the Triforce? Maybe Link, like Zelda, went into hiding. Welcome, ladies and gentlemen to the Age of War!
