Elwood smiled evilly when Sephira told him that he could tell her when he was tired and that she would put him on Midnight. The thought of asking when he didn't need to just to bother Midnight was strong in his mind, but he only laughed at the wolf and smiled. He wasn't a bad person after all. "Thanks, Sephira, I'll be sure to tell you," he said, and the scratched behind Midnight's ears.
Even when the person who appeared to be Rose's sister said Gerudo didn't come out here, James had to agree with Sephira. The faster they kept going, the faster they'd be through the desert and safe. "Alright guys, you can all talk as we walk, but we really need to get going," he announced. He walked over to Sephira and spoke a little lower, "We should head West through that path, it's our best bet."Comment

Sephira smiled at Elwood and ruffled his hair before turning her attention to James. She looked in the direction he pointed out and frowned thoughtfully. "Maybe," she replied, nodding. "There's a cliff marking the border of the desert. It's very likely there's some opening or something there that I missed when I was exploring here first that'll lead out."
She sighed as she heard Ea and Rose. "If you two start up again, I swear I'm going to burn your tongues off so I don't have to listen to your bickering any more. I should just leave you here for the buzzards or Gerudo to find." She took a deep breath to calm herself, then started walking, Star and Midnight following.Phillipians 4:13 - I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

James began walking after Sephira, not before giving Rose and Ea a slight glare for upsetting Sephira. If they kept upsetting her like that she would eventually blow, and that was never good. It normally didn't end well for anyone. Still, hopefully they would stop now. Apparently Rose didn't hate Ea, so that was progress. He got closer to Sephira and asked quietly as they walked, "You okay?"
Elwood began following after them, mainly to stay near Midnight. In such a tensions-filled group, the wolf was the only one he felt comfortable and safe with. He didn't stop looking around for any other magical things he had never seen before.Comment

"I think I should just shift and fly over head for a while, so those two don't make me lose my control." After all, she was starting to heat with her annoyance. James frowned. "Are you sure? I mean, I don't doubt it'd be better for those two, but..." he looked at the night sky. "Your phoenix form burns very bright. Are you sure the Gerudo won't see you and try to shoot you down?" It really did worry him, but also he wasn't sure they wouldn't get killed if she was away, although he felt she'd keep watching over them as she flew.
Elwood tried to listen to their conversation. He didn't understand. How does she fly? Does she carry wings in her pack or something?Comment

Sephira shook her head. "It only appears to when I'm in the sun, or other strong light. Without any light, I'm just a red, orange, and yellow bird. The moonlight might give me away, but I think I can fly high enough that it won't."
Star nudged her leg. You still must be careful.
"I will, Star, don't worry." She patted the cheetah and turned to James. "Do you trust me enough? If you don't feel comfortable with me flying, I'll stay." James smiled a little. "I trust you, I don't trust them however," he looked behind him as he spoke. Still, he knew it was better for her if she could clear her mind. He stopped, deciding it was best if he let her go. He looked into her eyes, trying to find a hint of something that would tell him what was going on in her head. "Go, we'll be OK. And I'm sure you will be too. Besides, there's nothing like spooking Elwood and the others with you suddenly turning into a bird," he winked. He took a step back, giving her some room to change.
Elwood still didn't know what was going on, but he imitated James and took a step back.Comment

Sephira grinned. She hadn't thought about how much her shifting would freak the others out. Rose knew about her phoenix form, of course, but Ea and Elwood had no clue. She unbuckled her sword belt and tossed her pack off her shoulder. Star stood still as she tied the two onto the cheetah's back and tucked her boots in the pack. It was a little heavy, but Star assured Sephira that she could carry it. Sephira rubbed the cheetah's ears, then stripped off her clothes and shifted. She cried in delight as the fiery phoenix form enveloped her human form. While she often preferred her human form's greater strength and speed, there was a wild freedom to the phoenix. Be back soon, she told James, knowing he couldn't understand her. She touched his cheek with her beak, then spread her wings and took to the sky, a large feather floating back down to land in front of James.Phillipians 4:13 - I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
