Esmeralda acknowledged his comment with a smile but didn't say anything. It seemed this guy was some kind of philosopher or something. She could get used to that, she just hoped he didn't on her nerves. She kept walking, wondering if it'd be rude for her to roll up and roll instead. It was very tiring walking on her chubby legs. In the end she decided against it, maybe the guy would come up with some other conversation topic that would interest her.Comment

(you know, I think Calder and Sephira are the two characters that most represent me. Well, Joshua too. lol Sephira has my serious nature, Joshua my fun-loving, and Calder my more relaxed temperment. lol)
Calder strolled along contentedly. He was always pleased to make a friend, especially if that friend didn't laugh at his unusual remarks. He was so often dismissed as mad, it was nice to be with someone who didn't think him so. Of course, eventually he'd say something that would convince them otherwise and they'd leave, but he hoped young Esperanza wouldn't. She seemed to have a unique view on the world as well. The pair of them might actually get along.
He turned to his companion. "You said you wanted to see the world. Is there a particular corner of it you wish to see? Esmeralda took in a deep breath and thought for a few seconds. There were so many things she had read about Hyrule. She even had a special stash of scrolls about its landmarks and secrets still stashed away back in the mountain. But was there a part she specifically hoped to see? She shook her head. "I just want to see Hyrule in general, and hope I get to see all of it before my journey's over," she added. It was true, Hyrule was so big she couldn't possibly decide on one specific place.Comment

"Then remind me to take you to Zora's Domain after I've finished in Kakariko Village," the healer said. "My birthplace is beautiful, especially in the rising or setting sun. The sun reflecting off that water can be gorgeous." He sighed blissfully. Even if he was an outcast back home, he still enjoyed visiting. Esmeralda smiled. The way he described it didn't sound so bad. Even if it was filled with water. She was out in the world to see things other than rock for once, after all, and a place filled with water seemed like just the thing. She nodded, "That'd be great." The only thing that bothered her was the idea that if they spent so much time together he might come to hate her way of being, or she might be annoyed by him. Either way she decided for now they were OK.Comment

That seemed to be the "thing" with teenagers these days. He had done it himself, but that was before it had become the "thing". Esmeralda looked away from the question. She wasn't sure how to answer. Technically she wasn't a run-away, she had been evicted from her home. But she couldn't say that. If she did, Calder might think badly of her and that was what she least wanted at the moment. Instead she put a small, fake smile on her face and laughed a little. "Yeah, maybe I'll take you some day." She made sure not give away any other details. White lies were the best kinds of lies.Comment

Calder nodded, sensing it was a delicate subject for Esperanza. He wouldn't push her. He wondered if maybe going to Kakariko Village would be difficult for her, and was tempted to ask if she would rather remain outside the village while he retrieved his herbs and potions. But no, the reason she was accompanying him in the first place was to help him select the proper things he needed. Perhaps he would simply be quick. That would be fairly easy, unless he stopped by the Malo Mart. For some reason, he always spent more than he should at that place, on things he had absolutely no need for. I will not go to Malo Mart, he told himself firmly, then added, Unless they have something really good displayed in the window. And knowing that place, they probably would.
