*Harlyn and Rayna arrive from the Beginning of the End.*

    Thadump, thadump, thadump...

A lone chortle broke through the serene silence of the forest, polluting the pure airs of Faron Woods as if releasing dark energy with only it's sound. Only magic had the power to let such an innocent and simple expression contain so much perversity.

    Thadump, thadump...

Ravishing depravity rode on twin horses beneath the trees, browning leaves departed from branches and crumpled as a new blackness closed in on the green village mile by mile, foot by foot, inch by inch...

    Thump.

A malign wind sweeped the province with an epidemic in it's draft. A pestilential pulsation that had gone on for so many hours finally came to an end, but only took a step deeper into the beginning.

    ~

Birds chirped overhead, among towering trees that rustled in the breeze. Crystal clear waters cascaded into a tranquil, stony spring, and atop the source of the water was the source of corruption. The child of Evil itself stood under the beaming white Hyrule sun, wearing boots of black leather.

"The forest," Harlyn crowed as he hopped off his steed and inhaled the fresh air. "So full of life..."

Raina looked around, breathing deeply. It had been so long since she'd been away from the city, so long since she enjoyed clean air. "It is," she agreed. She was tired of the stench of death. Tired of blood, the mindless cries of Joarm's minions, the shuffling hordes of the undead. Here, there was fresh clean air, quiet birdsong, and the patter of animals running through the undergrowth. Despite still looking out for threats, she could honestly say she had never been more relaxed.

"How could anyone possibly call this place pretty?" Harlyn commented, his tone nearly swinging up to a shriek as he spoke. "You'd have to be mad to live in all this green! I'd rather live in a moblin's ****!" He shakily paced over to a tree, breaking into a brief rush of laughter. "The least we can do is give the fairy people's home a little makeover. What do you say?" Harlyn was now trembling with excitement, and he slapped his hands onto a tree so hard blood began to ooze out from between his palms and the rough bark. In a matter of seconds, the entire tree's color practically dulled to gray and all its leaves shriveled up and wafted to the ground. "Oh, why don't we just bring them home? They'll love the castle! They don't want to be here anyways!" He stepped away from the lifeless tree and stared off at a village that could barely be seen below through the trees. Ooh wait, wait! I know what we'll do!" He continued to walk frantically about, completely absorbed in himself, not seeming to be talking to Raina at all anymore. He suddenly paused for a moment, staring at the village once more. He could see (hallucinate) his puppets dancing off towards the village, swinging through the trees to take the forest people away. "Yes, yes! The renovation plans are still on! We will kill half of them, and paint the trees red with their blood! After the trees are all dead, of course. I can't stand seeing them this way." He continued to stare, an unhumanlike grin stretched across his face. "And then we'll take the rest of them away! Master will be pleased! He'll be so proud!" The voice of Harlyn's lord echoed in his head, "Convert them, but do not bring them here." "Maybe we shouldn't kill too much, the lord didn't ask for that. We must convert them all first! Anybody who cannot be saved... will be used for decoration! That sounds perfect! Lets go, lets go, lets go!" With that, Harlyn bounded off in an impressively rapid skip towards the settlement, like a Castle Town kid running to a candy shop back when Castle Town kids were fully living.

Raina sighed at her companion's bloodlust. It didn't surprise her, of course. He'd always been rather disturbed in that manner, although perhaps not quite as bad. She took off after him, her strong gait easily catching up to him before slowing to match his. "Think first, Harlyn. Ordon is the main source of food for Hyrule. Killing half the town and taking the rest to the castle will hurt the country as a whole. The lord," she couldn't' help a grimace at the sour word before continuing, "only instructed the town to be converted. They do not need to be taken away from here." She wanted to contest the need to kill, but she knew from experience it was a pointless exercise. All she could do was refuse to do the killing herself. Not that Harlyn would object to dyeing his hands.

Harlyn bounded along towards the village, barely processing Raina's words before he took a step ahead in his plan for the conversion. "Yes, why don't we bring some friends along with us?" he said excitedly and got started on conjuring up a small skeletal army of about 15 from the ground to escort the duo into the village. "The more the merrier! C'mon everyone, we're going to town!" By his will, a few skeletons lifted up a log to carry Harlyn in like a low budget prince. "Harlyn promises you'll love it, we'll clean it up nice and make it like another home!"

She winced as the skeletons rose from the dirt, the aura of undead hurting her eyes as some of the corpses had lain there for countless years. Thankfully, none of them were fresh and she was spared the scent of rotting flesh and the sight of maggot riddled bodies. However, the clacking of bones together as the creatures walked was a bit grating. Still, being carried forced Harlyn to slow down so she was no longer exhausting herself with the quicker pace he had been maintaining. She kept pace at his side, frequently touching some of the knives on her belts in case an enemy face revealed itself in the foliage, while also praying to any deity that would listen for a way to avoid massacring the village.

The monkey newly named "Rikki" scrambled up the tree and hopped from branch to branch at an impressive pace, closing in on the beehive in a matter of seconds. The amazing thing is that one of his hands was occupied by a glass jar.
Rylan knew this was one messed up idea, but the monkey potion had to be put into practice at some point and this seemed like the perfect opportunity, besides the risk that Rikki could come out of it seriously injured or maybe dead. Her day just hadn't been interesting enough so far, and therefore it was a risk worth taking. What ended up happening was exactly what she had feared, though. First the sound of buzzing grew so loud that she could hear it clearly from so far below, and next came the monkey cries. But the third thing Rylan heard was completely unexpected and sent a chill down her spine that she had never felt before. A manic laughter that was so off color it sent her dashing through the forest to distance herself from it, carefully avoiding making any noise of her own. She never took the time to see how Rikki turned out and in the blink of an eye she was far away, peeking out from some dense shrubbery to make out a group of not so average wanderers crowding around the monkey who had plummeted from above. They didn't seem to have a clue about Rylan because of the distraction. She was grateful for this, for the group was comprised of a surely insane jester, a woman who wore more than enough blades, and a whole lot of undead. There was no telling where they could have possibly come from, but Rylan had a good guess of where they where headed and was certain that they were up to no good. She disappeared further into the woods, making haste to reach the village.

Harlyn burst into laughter when the monkey started squealing from the trees above. He looked up to see the silly creature drop off a branch, taking a decently sized beehive down with him. They landed fairly close to his group, but he let out a weak pulse of dark energy that made all the bees drop to the ground before they stung anyone. This energy also happened to finish off the monkey. However, for the sake of novelty, Harlyn let the creature wake from his death to travel into the village with them. The undead monkey hopped onto the log to ride beside Harlyn, staring ahead with lifeless black eyes. "So what's yer name, fella?" Harlyn playfully asked as they continued moving closer to the village.

Rayna's hands flew to her swords as she heard screams from above, and only relaxed slightly when a monkey fell from above with a beehive close behind. So tense was she that she actually flinched as she felt Harlyn's dark energy roll over her. This did not stop her from feeling a wave of pity as the pulse killed the angry bees and frightened monkey, or a spark of revulsion when Harlyn summoned the monkey's corpse, just as he had the shambling horde that walked around them. Why oh why did he feel the need to force these bodies to follow them? Why did he delight in the mayhem he caused and brought his victims with him? Granted, the monkey was a fresh body, still too warm to begin rotting or attracting the creatures who fed on the dead, but those lifeless eyes were so cold and empty. She always felt uneasy around the undead, but it was the fresh bodies, newly dead and freshly risen, that made her nervous. She pawed her blades again, now even more tense than before, and fearful of what they would find in the village.
