    *Entering from 'A Doomed Trio'*

It had been roughly 20 minutes since Kairu left Malina and Drake on the hill in Hyrule Field. The sun was trying to poke out through the darker clouds. The first thing that Kairu noticed was the destroyed walls. "They stood no chance. These poor, poor people," he said noticing the ddead guards in the rubble. What made the feeling of sorrow worse was that they died scared, eyes wide open from the frigt. Kairu began to sob silently, saying a soft prayer for the soldiers.

He then chuckled to himself at how the sight of death made him religious. It gave Kairu enough strength to press forward, deeper into town. He looked down one of the main roads, the houses were destroyed or still smoldering. Families huddled into the streets in fear and now poverty. Kairu kneeled down next to a little girl who was hunched over a dead body of a grown man. His beard singed, fear in his eyes as well, a fist still made from where he, no doubt, tried to fight back.

It wasn't until Kairu turned the corner to see a body of a small young boy. At first, Kairu's heart sank deeper than ever. He noticed a woman kneeling next to the child. His heart fearng what the boy looked like. Kairu swallowed largely and approached the mother and child. He recognized the boy and could figure out who the woman was. He sighed a soft sigh of relief that it wasn't Leo, but it was one of Leo's friends from school.

The woman turned and recoginized Kairu. "Where were you?! This whole town was under attack and you weren't here! Your family needed you and you were off on some ****ed spree with other women no doubt! How dare you show here! What kind of soldier are you?!" The woman grabbed Kairu by the collar and was shaking him violently out of grief. Kairu forced his arms around the distrought womanand she let go, letting Kairu embrace her. The woman simply cried into Kairu's chest.

"He's dead Kairu, my litle boy is dead..." It was all the woman could get out before completely letting herself go again. Kairu continued to embrace her, comfort her, hoping that somehow, he would make her feel better. After her husbands death a few years ago, she held onto her son for her motivation to live. Kairu knew she now had nothing, no one. She slipped Kairu's dagger out from it's resting spot, without so much as a single notion that she did.

"Abigail, I'm going to go and find Leo and Rebecca. I'll come back for you," Kairu told the woman. Before he turned his head and body the other way, he was too late. The woman was already inches away from impaling her chest. "Noooo!!!" By the time Kairu could get close enough to stop her, he was too late. She was already limp from the instant kill. Kairu held the woman's dead body in his arms. Tears began to wet his face.

It was then, that Kairu felt the impact this attack had caused to him. Little did he know, however, his pain and feelings will not stop there. Something worse was waiting for him, he was merely blocks away.

Ryli put her arms around Kairu and embraced him, tears stinging her eyes as she shut them to block out the atrocities surrounding her. "We will find them. They will be okay," she said softly, trying to comfort him. She didn't believe what she was saying. There's only a small chance that they could have survived this... she thought, fighting back sobs that threatened to cause her to collapse. If they found Kairu's family dead, she had no clue how she could keep him from having a meltdown.

Kairu got up from the remorse. He laid the woman next to her son. He closed their eyes so it looked like they were sleeping rather than dead. "Come on, we need to find Leo." Kairu continued to move towards where his house was. When he turned the street corner, he saw his home still burning. The fire had began to spread from house to house and his was simply next in line in the path of destruction. His heart fell completely, as if it flew away, leaving a black void in its spot. He released himself from Ryli's continous embrace and ran as fast as he could to his burning home. He reached the front door in a matter of a few seconds and tried to open the door. It was locked.

He kicked the door in and that was where his disappearing heart was crushed and began to shatter. He saw half of his worst fear, his ex-wife, Rebecca, dead. It looked, from a quick survey, that she was simply burned alive. Her lower half was already beginning to char, the top half was covered in third degree burns. Kairu lost it. He began to cry, holding Rebecca in his arms, swaying back and forth, refusing to let her go. That was the case until his ears picked up the familiar sounds of a young boy crying from the upstairs of his home.

Kairu immediately realized Leo was still alive and ran up the stairs, right through the fireballs that engulfed his home. He found Leo, trapped under the bed in the young boy's bedroom. It was impossible for Kairu to get past to save his son. Kairu knew that there was nothing that could be done and Leo picked up on Kairu's body language. Kairu, who was full of anger, rage, desperation, was starting to choke to death from the smoke. Before Kairu passed out and began to die, he could hear Leo calling out, his innocence being brutally and forcibly removed from his life. "Daddy!" the boy called out. "Daddy! Don't leave me! Daddy! I'm scared! Help me, Daddy!" But it was too late for the boy. He had inhaled enough of the smoke to guarantee he died within minutes, like his father was slowly doing. Not even Ryli and her powerful ice magic could stop the magical flames of evil created by Ganondorf's forces and minions, many hours ago. The flames were simply too powerful. The most Ryli could hope to do is get Kairu out before he died with his family.

Ryli knew that it would take far too much energy to put out the flames using ice magic and that the flames were too large to control using her fire magic. All trying would do would kill all three of them, which would make everything worse. Ryli grabbed Kairu's arm and dragged him down the stairs and out of the house, just before the roof collapsed due to the weakening of the beams. Tears streaming down her ash-covered face, she coughed the smoke out of her lungs. She didn't know what to say to Kairu. There really was nothing she could say... She just knew she had to be there for him in any way he deemed necessary and she would just listen to him grieve.

About an hour and a half passed before Kairu regained conciousness. When he did he slowly forced himself to sit up. What he noticed first was his smoldering home, burnt to a crisp with nothing to salvage. He then turned his head to the left, he noticed he was across the road form his house and that there were two people, and two bodies near him. At first, Kairu's memory was hazy, but seeing his ex-wife nearly charred triggered his memory to return.

Kairu managed to crawl towards the two people. He then saw Leo's body next to his ex-wife. Kairu now got close enough to where he held his son's dead body. It was this point where he simply cried. His heart was broken and there was nothing he could do now. Kairu closed his eyes trying to force the images of his son who was covered in burns and the charred woman he once loved, but never enough, out of his mind. He could feel Ryli kneeling next to Kairu holding him, her head resting on Kairu's back.

Kairu now lost his only son, and his son's mother. He couldn't help but regret how he treated Rebecca. He felt that this was the justice he deserved for being so inconsiderate. Kairu started to slowly get consumed in anger and hatred at whoever caused this. "If I ever find out who did this, I will kill them. On the behalf of my family, friends, and fellow neighbors, I swear this true!"

"I'm sorry, Kairu, but that's impossible. As much as I admire your admiration and sincerity, you can't. That forcefield is protecting the cause. And I don't think either of you are going to like who I tell you it is. It's Miss Ryli's father, Ganondorf. In my world, he, under the control of Zant, and the Twili beasts invaded Hyrule. As far as we knew, Princess Zelda died in my world. We heard nothing from her since the attack. I'm sorry..." The voice hesitated for a second before he finished his sentence, "Dad."

Ryli turned quickly at the sound of the voice, flames burning on her hands, ready to be launched at an enemy, but harmless to her. "Dad? Is this some kind of sick joke?" she growled, glaring at the man standing near him. "And how did you know Ganondorf is my father?" She figured he was behind this. Ryli had known she would have to face him eventually, and she felt as if she was ready.

Kairu looked back at Ryli trying to notion her to calm herself, but at the same time, a fire burned in his heart. "How dare you show yourself to me again!" Kairu shouted but quickly stopping, the pain in his chest starting to intensify. All Kairu could do was cringe at his chest in pain.

"Miss Ryli, he doesn't have long. But long story short, I'm Kairu's son. And I'm not from this world. I am from a parallel universe one that is farther in time and we are far more industrialized. I know about you and Ganondorf because in my world, I got to know you, much like Kairu did. In fact, I subtly used you to find Kairu. Because I-" Leo began to sob, the first time his heart opened up since he entered this parallel world, "I killed your husband in my world. And my mother. I was so angry that they fought and split up, I put them both out of their miserable lives. You never found out. I eventually wound up here where I plotted and trailed Kairu to Ordona. And it was there that I thought I killed him."

Kairu began to choke again, his chest in more pain. "Miss Ryli, I need you to trust me, please. That remedy that that girl made last night, apply it to his chest. She said that it's suppose to heal, please help my Father."

Leo was beginning to cry and sound desperate. He felt the love he missed since he was a child. And he craved it, there was one other thing he wanted to tell Ryli, but he couldn't find the right words, or time, to get it out. Kairu proved to be stronger than his counterpart, and right now, Kairu needed help, quickly.

Ryli's fire disappeared as Leo's words sunk in, and she grew impossibly cold. She quickly pulled out the salve and tore Kairu's shirt. She applied all of it to his chest, while tears flowed from her eyes, freezing on her cheeks as cold fear continued to grip her. She prayed that Malina's cure would save him yet again.

Kairu was motionless. Although no one could see it, the pain stopped, but so it seemed Kairu did too. Leo, as terrified and desperate as Ryli, also hoped for Malina's aid. Several minutes had passed and Leo was still hoping. It wasn't until a tear from both Ryli and Leo dropped and hit his chest where the salve was applied. In the heart of a moment Kairu gasped the air, his eyes widening.

At that moment, it was when Leo realized he himself was holding his breath.

When Kairu breathed, Ryli collapsed on top of him, sobbing uncontrollably. "I thought you died," she said in a shaky whisper. She glanced up at Leo. "I'm so confused right now.... Can you explain anything that's going on?"

"My head is pounding," Kairu said clamping his head. He then looked at Leo. "Right, Leo, this version anyways, is a bloodthirsty hateful version of MY boy who's dead." Kairu's eyes watered and soon more tears fell from his eyes. "I just... I want to leave..."

"We'll leave as soon as we figure out what's going on here," Ryli said, too confused and curious to just walk away from all this. "Leo, please tell us what you know. Why are you even here? And how did you use me to find Kairu?"

"Miss Ryli, please let's just get him back to camp. I will explain when I get there." Leo began to pick up Kairu and looked at Ryli with sympathy.

Ryli stood from where she had been kneeling next to Kairu and began to lead Leo back to the camp. As they walked, she started thinking. "Leo, I know you said you killed your father in your world... You aren't going to kill him here too, are you?" she asked tentatively.

"Technically, he has," Kairu said interjecting. "He's the reason I died to begin with, why I lost my memories and why I now fight with myself over two women. Both men sighed. "If you mean, again, then no. He's come back to life twice now. He's much stronger than my father was in my world. My Father was a pitiful drunk. You are no different than your counterpart, Miss Ryli. How you ever agreed to marry him is beyond me. But nonetheless, I am glad you did. I probably shouldn't tell you this, but I wished, or still do, that you were my mother instead. You loved him in the other world. I hate myself for hurting you like that. I just feared your rejection if I ever told you that I murdered your true love."

The trio reached the edge of town. "When we get back to your camp, I will share more of my world, if you want to hear it. It's much different than this one. I like this one. It's cleaner, peaceful, and bigger."

Kairu spoke up angrily, "Peaceful?! I just lost my real family! How dare you tell me peaceful! My whole childhood is destroyed and my family tree is done! My Leo is dead!" Kairu's legs gave out and he was thankful that Leo and Ryli were helping him. He felt cursed inside. His family, his body, his life. A part of him wished he was dead, for good. That the pair left him to die with his family. That's where he belonged, in his mind. He has cheated death twice, and when the time comes and his end is nigh, he knows Death will come with vengence.
