Avalona curled up beside the fire, shivering. "I'm sorry.... I wanted to come with you two, but I got lost in the rain....." She coughed again. "I'm so stupid...."

"Hey, hey, none of that talk here," Elliot said with a stern but gentle voice. "What's important is that you're okay." He paused for a moment and bit his lip. "...Are you? You're okay, right?" He pressed his wrist against her forehead, checking to see if she was running a fever. "You're kind of wet, too..."

She nodded, staring into the fire. "I think so." She looked up at him. "Please let me come with you. I promise I'll try not to be a burden..."

Elliot was willing to promise her anything if it'd only just cheer her up. "Of course you can come with me," he said, rubbing her back. "And I thought I told you no self-depreciating talk here?" he lightly chided. "But first things first." He opened his satchel and pulled out a Gerudo outfit. Then he handed them over to Avalona. "Here. They might be a little big on you, but at least it'd get you into something dry while we wait for your clothes to dry up. I'd have to be a jerk to just let you shiver in the cold like that. Holler when you're done. Come on, Midnight." The wolf followed after him as he stood up and walked back out into the rain. Then he leaned against the cliff's wall and rubbed his forehead, letting all his doubts wash into him. Had he made the right decision, letting her come with him? Perhaps he should take her back home once the weather cleared. He didn't even know if she'd told the family she was living with that she'd gone. He wasn't about to be locked up for kidnapping. He sighed for what felt like the umpteenth time in the span of a single day. He rubbed his arms, shivering slightly, and looked down at the burn mark on his arm. Well, at least his arm was feeling better. That medicine really had worked.

Avalona peeled the wet clothes off, drying herself as best she could. She pulled the Gerudo clothes on, tying the sash tightly around her waist to hold the pants up. She rolled up the sleeves and pants legs so that they were'nt hanging off of her, then went to the mouth of the cave. "I'm dressed..." She went to sit by the wall of the cave and undid her braid so that her hair could dry out.

Elliot took one look at her and couldn't help but smile. Okay, so maybe it had been a little too loose on her. At least she was able to fix that. "You look good," he said. She really did, too. The Gerudo look was something that not a lot of people could pull off without looking ridiculous, but it didn't seem to be a problem with her. He motioned for her to follow him to the back of the cave where it was warmer from the fire and settled down against the wall himself. "So...do Dante and Lyla and the others know that you've followed after me?"

Avalona nodded, smiling. "Mrs. Boss even helped me pack, and gave me some food to bring with me. They said they can do fine without me for a while." She remembered something and grabbed her bag. "Oh, yeah! I brought something for you!" She brought out a small jar of pale tan cream. "I brought this for your arm. It'll help it heal faster, and help make the scar fade faster, too." She went over to him, opening the jar. She took his arm carefully and gently rubbed some of the cream into the burn. "There." She closed the jar and pressed it into his hands. "You need it more than I do." She smiled and went over to the fire. She fed it a bit more wood. "Let me know if you get hungry, ok? I'll do the cooking. I'm pretty good at it, if I do say so myself."

Elliot quietly sat back as Avalona rubbed the cream onto his arm. She had the softest touch.
He tried not to think about it.
The cream was cool and refreshing and he was grateful to be able to keep the jar of it. He thanked her and placed it carefully inside his pack, wrapping it around the other clothing so it wouldn't break.
"If you're hungry, you can go ahead and cook up something. If your cooking's anything like Lyla's, I don't doubt that you're good at it. I'm pretty stuffed myself though, thanks."

"Oh, I'm ok, thank you." Avalona smiled at him. Just then, there was a flash of lightning. She shrieked and fled to the far back of the cave in terror, whimpering.

Avalona's reaction to the thunder practically made him jump in surprise. He had to get her to calm down before she gave him a heart attack. "We're safe inside this cave, don't worry," he said, holding back a smile while making his way to where she had scuttled off to. He had to admit, it was kind of cute how she was so afraid of the thunder. She was like a little kid. "It's just like hiding underground where lightening never strikes, see?" He gently led her back to the campfire with a guiding hand on her shoulder and decided to distract her mind from the storm through conversation. After a while of sitting next to her, absent-mindlessly poking at the fire with a stick, he decided to ask her the question that had been nagging at his mind. "So why'd you decide to follow after me anyway?" he asked.

"I want to help you. I mean, you're my friend." She smiled shakily at him, her nerves still on edge from the thunder. "Besides, you've been so kind to me, I want to pay back that kindness." She bit her lip, then asked him the questuon that had been on her mind since they met. "What happened to your arm?"

"It got burned," was all Elliot said, averting his eyes from Avalona. Actually saying out loud the events that had led up to it would make it seem all the more real to him and he wasn't sure if he was ready to deal with that. "I shouldn't have yelled at her," he said quietly, more to himself. "She only wanted to help..." He rubbed his arm again and shivered slightly.

Avalona went over to him and draped his cloak over his shoulders. "I'm sure she understands that you were just worried about her, whoever she is." She smiled softly. "It's obvious you care a lot about her, after all."

He wrapped his cloak tighter around him and bowed his head. "I do. A lot. But from what she said back there, I don't think she feels the same way anymore." He recalled her sharp words about how she had just been using him for her entertainment, then tried to push the memory away. "Well, never mind about me," he said. "When this rain clears up, you're welcome to stay at my place for as long as you like. Or we could just go for a walk or something." He put on a smile for her. "If you're going to be following me around for a while, I'd like to get to know you better, Avalona."
