Ea sighed again. "Well, yes I suppose that's good. I'm not an idiot when it comes to that kind of stuff. I spent the last four years hunting. But either way, if we get into any sort of a skirmish, I don't want to be responsible for watching your back while I watch mine. All I'm saying is you should at least try to familiarize yourself with some sort of weapon."

Sephira raised an eyebrow. "I've lived in the forest my whole life, I know several of the plants as well. This photosynthetic thing, on the other hand..." her voice trailed off. It sounded like what some of the plant-sensitive Stari called the plants need for light. So did that mean Elwood was part plant? The thought brought a smile to her lips. It would explain why he had suddenly become exhausted when the sun had set. She had wondered if there was a connection between the two.
She glanced at Ea. "True. Most Kokiri use slingshots and stones, right Elwood? Or would you rather I teach you to wield that knife?" She gestured at the knife she had lent him. It was her moon one that she had bought to match James, but she wouldn't mind giving it to him. Marking him as hers. She could always get another knife for herself. Maybe one with a star on it. "I do know how to use a slingshot, and I'm a very good shot from the cover of trees," Elwood responded while he glared at Ea, "but, I lost my slingshot when I was attacked. Learning how to use another weapon wouldn't be so bad, I guess..." He drifted into thought. He wondered if it would be too wrong of him to learn the arts of fighting. Then he remembered, "Oh and Sephira, the knife you gave me, I think you forgot I still have this." He pulled the Kokiri Sword from its sheath and showed it to her, letting the glint shine on Ea's face.Comment

Ea shrugged. "Hmm, not bad. But it could use some reach. Your opponents could be using full-fleged swords, and the reach of that could put you at risk." She looked around. "I could certainly find a branch that'd work temporarily for a slingshot, and I think..." she walked over to a bush and inspected the fruit. Sephira chuckled. "I had forgotten. Well, that means I get to keep my knife." She turned to Ea, raising her eyebrow yet again. "Reach isn't everything. He's fast. In the end, I suspect that his limitless energy and speed will defeat his slower opponets. If he can learn to duck under the sword, he will be too far in the enemy's reach to be in danger of the sword." She glanced at Elwood. "Thank you, though, for offering to make him a slingshot. Elwood was happy that he was no longer being judged and instead a weapon for him was now being discussed. "Making slingshots isn't that hard. I'm not an expert but I know the basics," he smiled. He thought about the future for him. For now it didn't seem very bright, but if things worked out it might be. He sighed and began looking around for the basic things he needed to make a slingshot.Comment

Elwood had finished gathering his materials, and was starting to fashion his slingshot. However, he stopped for a moment and raised an eye at what Ea was saying. He smirked at the fact that she thought Midnight couldn't understand them, but it was what she then said that made him feel sick. "Animals are good for one thing," she said, "and that's food," she said. It made him sick to the stomach, having grown up in the forest out of a plant and bug diet, that someone would think so little of animals. Of creatures that were spiritually above all of them. He took note in his head to the fact that Ea was an animalaphobic. After this he turned his head from the girl and kept on working.Comment

Sephira raised an eyebrow. "I'll forgive you that statement, as you haven't been raised as I have. Stari are taught to understand animals. Star and Midnight understand me, and I understand them. We can hunt as a team, they can spy for me if I need them to, and they are willing to go with anything I need them to. I prefer animal company to human, as they tend to be more loyal." She scratched Star behind her ear. "They are less questioning also, if they trust you enough. I can understand what you mean about animals being only food; I have lived so long outside the forst I'd be a fool not to notice that habit of others. However, I see another purpose for them also, if you open yourself to listen." Lumina awoke to two people arguing nearby about what animals were good for. Since the people she had met left, she had decided to camp since her next show wasn't for quite some time. She crept closer to the two who were arguing so that she could get a better sense of what was being said.Comment
