Verigan wandered the halls of the base until he found the dilapidated forge. Dust hung from every surface, and the torches set into the walls had burned themselves to the holder. He pulled the leather cover off the smelter and pushed a thumb to the carving, hoping it would light.
    It didn't.
He sighed and dumped the swords to the ground, fumbling in his pockets for a flint. He eventually found one and a knife, and lit the torches, getting a better look at the room.
Like the treasury, the smithy used to be impressive, but had died years ago, leaving behind a husk. Soot clung to every surface, staining them black, and a cobweb stretched almost from floor to ceiling. In the far corner was a circular forge next to an anvil, a grindstone, and a stack of empty buckets. The other corner had had what used to be bags of coal, but was now just a pile, the bags rotting away or being chewed at by rats. Set into the wall was a pair of slots for a furnace, with a broken lighting enchantment carved next to it.
Verigan grabbed a shovel and started moving coal into the furnace. "Gwyna, can you try to get to rust off? The metal will be higher quality if it's pure."

Meldos walked in. "Yes, that could work... We'd lose some metal, but only a bit. It is a surface coating after all. But we should wait. There's no use in smelting metal we don't know how to use." He looked back, trying to find Deana. Upon finding her, he stood straight. "I'd like to have you go into Kakariko, or whatever market you can find, and sell whatever we looted. We could use the gold."
So I'm back, or at least I will be eventually. Trying to reintegrate myself.

Deana had stayed behind as the trio left the room, not sure what exactly they were doing. She glanced up from sharpening her knife as Meldos came in. She saluted. "Yessir, Meldos. Want me to buy any supplies while there, or wait until later on?" She pulled off her cloak and laid it across the table, shedding the majority of her knives as well. She kept one tucked on her belt, in case she needed it in town.

'Sure." Verigan said, putting down the shovel. "I mean, I was just going to make ingots, since the swords're worthless, but you're probably right."
He looked down self-consciously and crouched to stack up the buckets, some of the wood crumbling in his hands.
"Do you think we should maybe send a few people to market? If all the loot shows up in one shop, they'll maybe trace it back to us."
He gave up on the buckets and tossed them aside.
"We need to find a real fence somewhere. Think any of ours survived?"

(Thieve's Guild? This ain't no thieve's guild! This is a bandit's guild! And what's a Ragged Flagon, anyways? A hideout in a tavern? Pssh. Let me guess, is that underground too?) (Yes that is just pure humor btw, and I thought of this before I had Skyrim.)
Meldos frowned. "Fences, fences... I wonder... I don't think so. I recall them being found out..." He turned back to Deana. "I don't think supplies will be necessary quite yet. This is just me, but I myself prefer to have enough gold to last us a while in storage, should anything happen." He pondered slightly, looking around their 'base' and at the measly three, although talented, members. "Perhaps we should steer away from this whole 'hit and run, kill everything' strategy for a while. Who said good old-fashioned thieving was off the table?"
So I'm back, or at least I will be eventually. Trying to reintegrate myself.

Deana grinned. "I can pick a couple pockets while in town. Maybe even take some from the rich folk, so they won't even miss a missing red rupee or two. We could also probably scam some guys pretty good. You know that game with three cups and a single pebble? That would be a simple and effective way to get money." She shouldered her pack, ready to head out. "Any last minute instructions before I go, boss?"

"I'll go too. I mean, if it's alright. I'm a good enough pickpocket." Verigan said. He twitched his fingers, rolling a circle of iron-probably the remains of a some old project-across his knuckles. "And if I have a few days I could pull off a burglary. We could run the shell game while I case a target. If it's all right with you."
The shell game. He knew the shell game well enough.

Verigan stared down at the table intensely, forehead wrinkled. With a skilled touch, the dealer slid the cups around each other. He was sure he would get it this time. Before he'd messed up, sure, but now it would be different.
The cups stopped and he reached out a hand hesitantly, putting a finger on the middle.
"Are you sure?" The dealer asked, looking concerned. Verigan ate it right up.
"Erm, I think it's... Yeah. Yeah, I'm sure."
The dealer lifted up the cup, wincing in faked sympathy. Nothing but table.
"Sorry, sir, but you're out of luck. Want to try it again?"
"No, thanks. I can't afford it." He shook his head sheepishly.

Meldos pondered the suggestion from Verigan. "Ah, yes. Provided you don't get caught of course. We're weak enough as is, we certainly wouldn't want to lose any of our number." He paused, then an idea popped into his mind and he continued, "and if you see anyone who's quite eager, inviting them to join us is always worth a shot. While you're away, I(and/or whoever may be staying) will probably work on cleaning up this old place, lighting the fires anew. I'm serious, some of the torches are out and I'll probably light them back up. But whenever you think you're ready, it's fine with me."

Deana nodded and started shifting some of the stolen goods from the bag into two smaller packs. One of these she handed to Verigan. "I could probably convince a few people easily enough," she said with a grin. "It would simply be a matter of finding the ones who would be good enough, and asking them nicely." She shouldered her pack and turned to Verigan. "I'm ready to head out whenever. You?"
