Kaida nearly fell off Ash as he leapt some rubble. She ground her teeth and decided she'd had enough of this wild horse. She fumbled around for a bit before finding his reins, then yanked back on them, so hard he reared, nearly causing to fell for perhaps tne umpteenth time that day. When he finally settled down and started pawing the ground in annoyance, she leaned over and whispered in his ear, "Now it's my turn to be in charge." She slapped his rump, setting him in an easy trot as she followed Inga through the wreckage of the town, Zarola slinking along behind them.
She tried not to look around her, but she saw the ruined houses and the burned bodies. People in the streets gave vent to wailing cries as they hugged the remains of loved ones. She saw a child shaking his mom, trying to get her to wake up as he cried, a man hugging his lover as he rocked on his heels, an elderly couple mourning their son's death. If there really are goddesses, she wondered sadly, [i]why did this happen?[i] She increased Ash's speed a little to draw level with Inga, and set her gaze firmly on the path ahead. Thank the Giants this was not Clock Town.

As Inga silently trotted beside Kaida and Ash, she continued wondering about the destruction in Castle Town. The streets almost resembled her vision of hell. Could it have been a foreign army attack? She pondered. No, that wouldn't happen so suddenly... Was it even a person? Inga knew of a story about a mysterious flaming rock falling from the sky, but that was an ancient tale and there was no proof of it. Some said it was sent by Din. Did the Goddesses do this? Are they mad at the Hylians? Then she realized the worst possibility. It made her stomach twist to even think of him, but she had heard enough about his return to know it was true, even if she had never seen him in person before. Ganondorf? Crap.
Inga quit thinking and payed attention to the path ahead of her. Smoke irritated her eyes and she coughed a bit. They were already about to leave town, even though the trip through it felt like an eternity and even though it was slightly relieving for her to leave, she felt a sting of guilt for not helping any of the people they were leaving behind. It was difficult, but she tried to nearly stop thinking completely, only focusing on Donovan. Soon enough, the smoke began clearing out, and green trees took the place of bright flames in her vision.
"We better pick up the pace again," she said, speeding up her horse as they gained distance from town.

        (What's the rock, exactly? I can't place it. :/)

Kaida ignored the faces that peered up at her, determined not to see the distressed faces going past her. She set her jaw, narrowing her focus to the path. When they finally left the city behind, she let out her breath, realizing she had been holding it for a while. She barely heard Inga declaring their need to increase pace before she slapped Ash's rear, setting him in a full-scale gallop. She wasn't trying to out-run the disaster and agony behind her, she was just wanting to make up for lost time.

(I completely made that up haha. I'm just gonna do a bit of fast-forwarding here if you're okay with it)

The ride across the other side of Hyrule Field went by pretty quickly, and Inga's horse maintained a swift pace for the whole trip. The fact that no more obstacles got in their way only made the trip easier, and Inga had the route perfectly mapped in her memory. But as fast as they moved, she felt like Donovan was being lost further into the unknown. Soon enough, they were riding along a cliff looking down on the waters of Lake Hylia, and after a few more minutes of riding they had reached a wooden bridge. Inga led Kaida over the bridge, gapping the deadly ravine below, and briskly continuing on to the sand of the desert.
She loved the desert and spent lots of time in it, so that would surely help them in their chase. She had the placements of every chasm memorized, and knew that if they remained moving quickly the few monsters that lived in the desert wouldn't bother them.
"Follow closely behind me," Inga shouted behind her to Kaida but keeping her sight ahead of her. "I don't want you to fall down a ditch." There was no other way to put it. The sun was in the middle of the sky above them though, so it wouldn't be too hard to see the dark holes. But she knew stories about people who rode in the night, and fell into the holes before they could see them, never to return. As they sped across the sand, Inga spotted an oversized feather laying in the sand, telling them that they were on the right path.
Now that they were in the desert and nothing obstructed their view of the sky, Inga looked around for any dark dot that would be the giant bird with Donovan. Suddenly it seemed to go dark for a second while a bright beam of fire flashed in the distance, towering from the sand of the desert to the unknown reaches of the heavens. It disappeared quicker than anyone could stare at it, and Inga's eyes squinted in confusion. "What the heck was that?!" She shouted before remembering to pay attention to the land they rode over. "I didn't expect to see anything like that today."

(A new thread should probably be started at this point, or should Inga and Kaida just move to the Sephira and Donovan thread?)
