Drake thought about Malina's question. Why now? "I guess I haven't really thought about it before, but it makes a lot of sense...." Drake said. "Anyways, why would your dad start a war with another country when he has Holodrum to worry about? He surely doesn't have enough resources to fight two wars."

Malina shook her head. "He wouldn't. Not on purpose. But he would send his troops to find me. And if they're spotted, they would be perceived as a threat and attacked. That's what I'm afraid of. My father would have no choice but to retaliate." She sighed and started repacking the supplies. Drake was now at an impasse. I really, really want to go to my brother...but, at the same time, I want to stay with Malina...
Over the next few moments, Drake argued with himself. He wondered if he should ask Malina if she would come with him, but he decided that she wouldn't come because she had known him for less than a day. Drake frowned. He had never made a decision like this before. If this world is full of these decisions, then this is going to be a tough ride.Comment

Finished with the supplies, Malina made sure to sort the saddlebags so that they didn't get mixed up again. Then she moved to the tents and started taking them down. She hadn't used tents much before, so she ended up with a mess of fabric and rope instead of the neat pile her father always seemed to get. She huffed in annoyance, and started sorting through the material, packing it away as she did so. She glanced towards Castle Town as she started to gather up the dishes from the night before and wash them. "I wonder how long they're going to be," she said. She was a bit worried that they would run into trouble, but she knew Kairu and Ryli could take care of themselves.Phillipians 4:13 - I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

*Kairu and Leo return from Darker than Jealousy*
Leo and Kairu approached the camp, Kairu starting to walk better on his own, but still in some pain and could potentially still need help. Before anyone could ask, Kairu spoke up, "I'm fine. Just a... oh nevermind. I don't want to talk about it." The grief was still noticeable and Kairu's eyes were still red and puffy from the crying.sigpic

Malina had finished with the dishes and packed them up, and had started reading her book again, when she heard footsteps. She glanced up sharpky, but her suspicious glare softened immediately on seeing Kairu's state. She leapt to her feet and ran to his side, her book falling unnoticed to the ground. She started to ask if he was alright, but he prempted(sp) her, saying he didn't want to discuss it. She guessed that his family had died.
She eyed the young man with him. He looks to old to be Kairu's son, she thought, frowning. So who is he? She looked at Ryli, hoping the Gerudo would be able to tell her what happened, although out of Kairu's hearing would be best.Phillipians 4:13 - I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Leo helped Kairu sit down around the fire. When Kairu sat there Leo sat next to him. Sitting side by side, the feature were strikingly identical. They shared the same eyes, almost the same hair, a lot of same features, even the same height and build. If Malina and Ryli weren't so close to Kairu, Leo could easily impersonate Kairu without question. The only thing that was different between them were their nose.
That's when Kairu began to speak again. "It's a mess down there. We're weak and vulnerable. If Labrynna ever attacked Hyrule like this, there wouldn't be much resistance up until they reached the Castle. Malina..." That's when Kairu's tone and features changed. He took a pause before resuming, "In fact, all of us... We need to help these people someone has to be willing. There must be someone somewhere who can help Hyrule, become their protectors."
That's when Leo interjected, "I agree. I highly doubt that even if Ganondorf survived in my world, he would have been there for Hyrule. Fortunately, despite the terror and chaos of the last 20 years, Valentine has been there for us. We don't see her much anymore, in fact, at all. Holligan is the fae of the Valentine Hyperion. Point is, we have to find Hyrule an ally."sigpic

Malina bit her lip at Kairu's words. Who would even protect Hyrule? The only country she could speak for was Labrynna, but she couldn't make her father do it. She doubted Hyrule would accept their help anyways. Holodrum might help, but it could just as easily turn against them. And if they found out she was the princess of their enemy, they would be unlikely to help Hyrule while she negotiated.
That left Termina. She didn't know much about the little country, but she was certain the natives were strong fighters despite their natural defenses. Kaida and Donovan were evidence of that. But would they be willing to help?
She shook her head, unable to think of a good solution to the dilemma. That's when she realized what the young man said. She turned to him with a frown, then started as she noticed how much he and Kairu were alike. Were they brothers? But what was this about "his world"? Was he from a different planet? Adriel would be interested in him then, given his love of the stars. But that still didn't explain his features.
"Where is this Valentine? If she keeps you safe, maybe she could keep this place safe as well? That's all I've got, unless you want to try Termina," she added to Kairu.Phillipians 4:13 - I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

"I suppose I need to explain myself. My name is Leo Akilah, officially, any way. I'm not actually an Akilah. I'm an Agamemnon. Specifically, Kairu's son. I am from a parallel world. I had murdered my real mother and father in my world. I was angry that the divorce got so out of hand. After the divorce, Father became lazy and turned into an alcoholic, but despite all that, Miss Ryli stayed with him.
"After the mysterious deaths of Kairu and my mother, I fled to the Lost Woods. That's when I stumbled upon a rift, or portal, to this world. I went through and found myself here. This world is calmer, cleaner, and younger. My world is farther ahead in time. Grand Duchess Valentine came from the far east, past Kakariko. She came with blazing airships, and defeated Ganondorf. Currently, she has been mining in the Forests for awhile now. If she discovers the Rift I have no doubt she will send an army this way.
"I initially came to re-kill Kairu and my Mother. I succeeded in killing Kairu back in Ordona during a diplomatic session. I disguised myself as an enemy soldier and murdered him in cold blood. Yet, here he is. Alive. It has me puzzled."Last edited by HyrulianBlackcat; 02-10-2013, 01:32 PM.sigpic

Malina frowned. "Why would you want to kill the Kairu of this world? He hadn't done anything to you." Her frown deepened. "You killed him in Ordona? You're the reason the peace negotiations failed!?" Leo was lucky she didn't have her knife on hand. All of this had stemmed from her father bringing Kairu back from the failed peace talks. If Kairu hadn't been killed and brought to Labrynna, Ryli wouldn't have come looking for him. She wouldn't have been arrested, and Malina wouldn't be a traitor to her own country for rescueing her. Plus, if Kairu hadn't been killed, Labrynna wouldn't be on the brink of war with Holodrum and Hyrule, although the recent attack on Hyrule would save her country from a war with the larger one.
All of this, in Malina's mind, stemmed from the actions of a stupid, jealous young man from a completely different world.
However, his actions had also propelled her into the world of magic far more than her own curiosity would have. Her fear of trying out magic, of the dangers of pursuing it, had always out-weighed her curiosity. But her fear of Hylian retaliation for Kairu's death had spurred her on to revive him. To save her country from war, she finally took the first step on the road to becoming a powerful witch. In a way, that made her thankful to him.
But her anger was stronger. She straightened to her full height and glared down at him. "Know this then. Kairu lives because I brought him back. I am Princess Malina Cyne, daughter of Baron Adriel Cyne, the ruler of Labrynna, and a powerful witch." She secretly wished she had greater titles to hurl at him, because she wanted him to fear her. Leo looked down and felt remorse. "Princess, I am truly sorry. I want redemption. Being with Kairu and..." Leo stopped himself as if he was going to say something he shouldn't. His mind tossed itself for a moment until resuming, "Miss Ryli in Castle Utopia... err, Castle Town has made me realize that I was wrong to do what I did here. I can see why my Father still has a thing for you, even if it is bound by witchcraft heresy."
Kairu remained seated. He kept his mouth shut and was pretending that he was trying to fall asleep. He still didn't want to be alive. He still wished he was dead. He just started to sob and cry silently to himself.sigpic

Malina narrowed her eyes. "Heresy?" she repeated, a dangerous edge in her voice. "You think my magic is heresy? If magic is heresy, then Kairu isn't really alive, he just made a miraculious recovery from a death blow. Ryli can't really control fire and ice; it just happens to do what she wants." She stalked closer to the older boy and jabbed him in the chest. "With my 'heresy', I can heal wounds that would otherwise kill. I can make people remember, or forget, whatever I please. I can bring back the dead or summon spirits from the Netherworld." In truth, she only read potions that would enable her to do these things; she hadn't actually done them. Still, she couldn't stand Leo labelling her practice as a theory.
She was glad he wanted redemption, though. It would take a bit of work, though. Not only did he have to get Kairu and Ryli's forgiveness, he had to get Malina's, or so she felt. And he wasn't doing a very good job at that. What world was he from where magic was considered heresy?Phillipians 4:13 - I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Kairu tried to get up too fast and met with the response of pain in his lungs. He winced in pain. The fighting and bickering was getting under his skin and he was tired of it. All he wants is happiness. Whether from Ryli or Malina or maybe some other woman. He just wanted happiness or death. He wouldn't dare breathe a word of it to Ryli as her magic would blow the situation out of proportion. That's when the few moments passed, kairu simply sat tthere grabbing his right lung. "Can't we just get along? Please? There's been enough damage today."sigpic

Drake decided to finally talk.
"I agree with Kairu. Stop the fighting." Drake almost sighed and shook his head in dissapointment because of the argument but he didn't because he feared Malina might go crazy.
"I say that if we need to look for an ally, we should go to Termina. They probably don't hold any grudges against Hyrule, and I know someone there who is very powerful." Drake said, trying to get the conversation back on track. He mentioned Termina partially because his family did in fact know a very powerful family, but it was mostly because Termina was probably where his brother was. At first, Drake thought it might be hard getting the group to go there, but now that Hyrule was in need of an ally, it would be easier.Comment

Malina snorted softly and stalked over to her fallen book. She dusted it off, then sat down with it on her lap. She didn't open it, just sat there with a thoughtful expression on her face. Maybe I'll slip a sleeping draught in his drink later. That'll teach him. "I only know of one route to Termina, but it's through Labrynna." Or maybe I'll brew a potion that makes him fall in love with me, see if he calls it hereasy then. "If we're going to head that way, we'll have to find a different path." No, love potion would only be fun for a bit. After that it'll only get annoying when he's mooning over me. "It'll probably be difficult to find one, though. Termina is pretty closed off, as I recall." Maybe that potion I was reading earlier, the one that changes my form. Or maybe that invisibility one. I don't think Kairu ever gave Ryli the bottle I made for her when we escaped. "At least, it is to Labrynna.
