Drake watched Malina go away from the group. A little after she sat down, he decided something was wrong. He walked over to her and sat down close to her, but there was a comfortable distance between the two. Drake noticed she was crying right when he sat down, but said nothing. After a while, he spoke.

"Is there something wrong, Malina?" Drake asked even though he knew there was.

Malina bit her lip as she heard Drake's question, unsure how to respond. But she couldn't contain it any more, she had to let it out. "No, everything's not okay," she burst out. "I left my home, my family, and my country. They'll think I'm a traitor, so I'll never be able to return. I'll never be able to help my mom with the gardening, or watch the stars with my dad. Instead, I have to search for somewhere to belong. And in the meantime, I'm getting tangled in their romance," she waved a hand over her shoulder, "all because of a stupid side-effect of a stupid potion. If I hadn't used the potion, or had found an alternative that wouldn't have made him fall in love with me, then none of this would have happened. I might have still ended up leaving Labrynna, but at least they would be happy. At least I wouldn't be in their way." She burst out into sobs. "The whole reason I rescued her, the whole reason I'm now a traitor to the throne and my father, was so they could be together. And now my very prescence is hindering that. Just being here is driving them apart." She covered her face with her hands, sobbing too hard to continue.

Drake was confused. Them....? He then figured out who she was talking about. Kairu and Ryli. "I think someone needs to make a decision. Not you, though. You shouldn't have to decide for him." Drake took a moment, resisting going over to Kairu and pressuring him into making a decision. He couldn't do that for Malina and Ryli. "He needs to be the man and make the decision."

Malina sniffled. "He has to choose her. If he chooses me, what was the point of us rescuing her? What was the point of me sacrificing everything? He owes me for that, and the least he could do is make her happy. Otherwise, there was no reason for all this. I just lost everything for nothing."
"He could be meant for you," a tiny voice said in her mind. "Maybe the reason for this was for you to get stronger, so you could rule Labrynna in your own right."
Shut up, she told it.

Drake took a minute to think about his next words. "Why don't you pressure him into making that decision, then?" Drake almost shook his head, but thought of it as rude before he started. It just seemed very simple to him, but he hasn't really been in this situation before. "If you can't do this, I think it would be better if you went away from them. I could come with you, if you want."

"I- I can't. It's not my place. If he stays with Ryli, it should be because he wants to, not because I guilted him into it." Like I guilted him into keeping his life.
"But doesn't that mean he doesn't love her enough?" said the tiny voice.
I thought I told you to shut up, she replied. She lifted her tear-stained face to look at Drake. "Do you mean it, though? That you'd leave with me? You'd have to be able to protect me; my father has no doubt sent more people after me than just a farmboy." She smiled to show she meant no offense, although it was a strained smile.

Drake scratched his head. She did have a point. "I wouldn't be great at protection, but if I did have to protect you, I would try my hardest." And if I had to make a decision between sacrificing my life or yours, I would sacrifice mine. Drake almost added his last thought, but he thought Malina thought he was crazy to be saying that this early in their relationship, which wasn't even that advanced to begin with. But what did he know? He was a farmboy with almost no social life.

Malina blinked in surprise. She hadn't been expecting such a determined response from him. She supposed it was because he still believe she was his princess, but still, it was unexpected. Not unwelcome, though. If she could convince Kairu that she'd be safe with Drake and that he should go with Ryli, there wouldn't be anything in the way. She'd be free to leave them to their own devices and not worry about what to do about Kairu. That would pay his debt perfectly, living happily ever after with Ryli, she decided. If something happened to interrupt that, though, she'd have to find some other reason to leave him. She still didn't want him as a suitor. She wanted to focus completely on learning magic, so she could retake her throne sometime in the distant future.
"Thank you," she whispered, reaching out to take Drake's hand. He was the perfect escape for her. She hoped she didn't start thinking of him that way, though. She still wanted to think of him as a person, not some key to freedom.

Kairu was conflicted inside. He didn't know what to do. He sat there trying to come up with one of his improvised infalliable plans, but his mind kept falling short due to the loss of his family and his heart's conflict between the two Princesses. He loved Ryli, he really did. She was young and beautiful and her Gerudo look was so attractive, he felt lucky enough to be as close as they were. Not to mention he loved her fiery red hair. Then there was Malina, the young, sheltered princess from another country that he owed his life to, and her and the Baron. The outcast runaway who risked everything for Ryli.

Then there was the matter of his life. His life for a possible false sense of romance. He had no doubt he would be attracted to her, but his desire was created as a backfire rather than a true desire. He knew a decision had to be made, and he knew someone would be let down and heartbroken. Malina wanted him to choose Ryli, and Ryli wanted him for herself. But, a part of him wanted Malina. The more pressure for Ryli, the less he wanted.

Ryli took the sword and walked away, shaking her head. She was done. She really couldn't take it anymore. He cheats on me, he doesn't love me like he loves her, and now he's suicidal... I can't put myself through this anymore..... I deserve better. Even without the effects of the potion, he would probably still cheat on me like he did his wife, she thought as tears rolled down her cheeks. She sat down a little way from the camp.

Kairu watched Ryli go, only approaching her after a few minutes. He sat next to her. He didn't say anything, nor did he want to. He wrapped his arm around her torso, pulling her in close.

Leo on the other hand could see the group tearing itself apart. He also noted how it was getting dark. He decided he'd try to get the group on its feet again. "Princess, could I get you to join me in getting some more firewood and get a fire started?"

When Kairu put his arm around her, Ryli tensed up. Next to him was the last place she wanted to be now. "I can't do this any more Kairu. I can't watch you with Malina, disrespecting me like that. I just can't do this to myself." She started to cry harder and put her head in her hands.

She thought back to their past together. They met in battle in the Kokiri forest, then again when she had killed Zeke. He had taken her in and made her feel special, like she was worth something. Now she felt worthless, like she deserved being cheated on for reasons she just didn't understand.

Malina glanced up as she heard Leo, frowning slightly at his question. "I... guess," she said hesitantly, standing. She was shaky from the force of her emotions, so she wasn't sure how helpful she would be. She also hadn't really gathered firewood before. She was sure it wasn't a difficult task, but with everything going on now, she didn't really want to ***** up on anything. "Wh-where should we look?" She looked at Drake. "Do you want to help too?"

Drake stood up and nodded. "I need to prove I'm good for something around here." Drake looked at Leo and observed him for a few seconds. "If you were lying about being Kairu's son, I would still probably believe that you're related somehow."

"Actually, if you don't mind, I want her to come eith me alone. I promise I have no intentions of harming her, but there are some things I want to discuss while we are out." Leo threw his sword at Drake's feet showing his intentions of peaceful relations.
