Leo dropped his arms and sighed. "I tried, Princess. I tried... Come on, let's head back. I just made an excuse. Miss Ryli can use her magic to sustain a fire without the need for fuel." He stood waiting for Malina to turn around and head back to the camp with him. "Just don't hurt him."

Malina sighed and laid a hand on his arm. "I'll try. But if he pursues me, I'll have no choice. I won't lead him on if I can help it." She smiled. "It's good to see the love between you, though. I'm glad that me bringing him back brought about something more than just hurt." If only my father and I could be like that again, she thought wistfully. She had always been a daddy's girl, and now her daddy didn't trust her anymore. It hurt more than anything could.Phillipians 4:13 - I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Leo and Malina soon arrived back. Both of which look ed very sad and disappointed. Kairu looked around and approached Malina. He helped her find a spot to sit. When he caught the jealousy from Ryli, he soon returned to her side. Leo approached Kairu and requested for Kairu to talk. After a short discussion, Kairu returened again to Ryli.
"Leo wants you to make a small fire and for you and I to go back to our tent and try to rekindle our love." Kairu saw that Ryli was about to object, only holding his hand up to stop her. "Trust me, I want to just lay there and be close. Remind me of the things you love about me. I think more than anything, we just need to talk."sigpic

"We will talk, but you're not going to like what I have to say..." she said softly as she walked to the center of camp. She blasted a fireball towards the center of camp and as it hit the ground, she took a deep breath, which made it flare. She let her breath out slowly, and the fire maintained itself. She solemnly walked into her tent to wait for Kairu.Comment

Drake noticed the arrival of Leo and Malina. The one thing that stuck out was that they had no firewood. Before he could question them, Ryli blasted a fireball towards the center of the camp. Drake jumped a little, but tried not to look surprised. There's a first time for everything. Drake thought as he refocused. "If you're wondering why dinner isn't ready, it's because I realized that I would need a source of heat, and we did not have that at the time."Comment

Leo smiled at Drake, trying to shed away any discomfort and try to convince Drake that nothing was wrong. "Don't sweat it. Fire's started, I'll let you get to your work."
Kairu on the hand, went into the tent. "We don't have to do this right now Ryli. We need to eat and I fear for you that you need to eat."sigpic

Drake was about help set things up when he remembered he didn't know what they wanted. "Is there anything you guys would like to eat? I'm sure I can cook it." Drake said, simultaneously trying to think of something he couldn't cook. It didn't come to mind right away, so he forgot about it and focused on Leo and Malina. Something seems....off. Drake took a second more to see if he could pick up anything else, then began to talk. "Did something happen on your pretend trip to get firewood?" Drake asked them, remembering that they didn't come back with firewood at the same time.There has to be something. Why would Leo invite Malina to get firewood when....Ryli can make fire without fuel?Comment

Malina huffed as Kairu helped her find a seat, nearly flinching away from him. She was exceedingly grateful when he went back to Ryli, and allowed herself to settle down more comfortably. Goddesses above, why is love so complicated? In the stories it's always so easy, so perfect. Guess it's not all it's made out to be, if a simple potion can severe its tied. She shrugged as Drake asked about dinner. "I don't think I'd notice if you served me dirt, so long as it filled my belly. I didn't get lunch or afternoon tea, so I am starving." She smiled at him, mouthing an I'll tell you later in reply to his other question.Phillipians 4:13 - I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

"I'm not eating tonight," Ryli said stubbornly. Not looking at him, she added, "You do whatever you want, I don't care." She felt numb. Ryli was done, and there wasn't anything that she thought he could say to fix it.Comment

Kairu began to feel the damage Leo had begun to describe to him. "Ryli...," he said, his heart breaking. He felt like a real jerk. And Malina was right, he had valid company to fill in and help bring peace to his problems.sigpic

(OoC: Let's assume it's the same day, but it's been a while since the last post, and Drake has cooked some sort of soup.)
When Drake was done cooking, he got out the spare bowls and utensils he had been supplied with and served dinner. Don't know why I had all of this, but I'm glad I did. Drake thought as he passed dinner out. When he gave Malina her dinner, he kicked some dirt out of the ground near her (being careful not to get any in her dinner) and grinned. "There's your complementary dirt that you asked for." Drake said, going back to get his own bowl. It took him about five minutes to eat his first serving, so he took a tiny bit of what he didn't serve and finished with that. When he saw that everyone else wasn't finished, he scratched his head. Guess I'm faster than I thought.Comment

Malina grinned back at Drake. "Thanks," she said as she took her bowl from him. She laughed as he dug up some dirt for her and thanked for that as well, although she left it where he kicked it. She wolfed her food down, but even then, Drake finished his faster than her, including seconds. She was very much surprised, but suspected it had something to do with his raising as a farm boy. She had always lived in the city, so even before Adriel took over Labrynna, she had always had very good manners.
She patted her belly contentedly. "That was delicious, Drake," she said, giving him a smile. "I should get you hired in the royal kitchens; you'd be able to take over in no time, I think."Phillipians 4:13 - I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Drake laughed. "Thanks." Drake said, smiling. After he put back his bowl, he walked over Malina. "Do you want to talk about what happened when you guys left now?" Drake asked her, whispering. He was very curious and really hoped she would talk.Comment

"Alright," she whispered back, eyeing Leo. Louder, she said, "It's easy enough. Come on, let me show you." She stood, dusted off her legs, then walked to his horse and proceeded to show him how to unsaddle and pickett the stallion. "You need to name him," she teased, then dropped her voice and explained, "Leo wanted to talk to me about Kairu. He thinks that his father will act on the magical effects of a potion I used to save his live, and leave Ryli for me. He wanted to know if I'd be good to him and accept him."
