  • Kairu and Leo were both around the fire. Leo, sitting between Ryli and his father trying to help give them some space. Leo ate rather hurriedly, but Kairu hardly touch his meal. He was too busy fighting with himself and beating himself up. Leo sat there knowing it. He knew his version of Kairu was a no-good, lying adulterer. He was certain he would prevent that mistake from occurring. All that left for Leo was to convince Ryli of Kairu's true intentions and their relationship may be saved. If not, he hoped that Malina would stay true to her promise to him.

    • "And I'm assuming you said no." Drake guessed, considering her reaction from just mentioning it. "Name? Well, I guess that would make it less awkward when I want him to do something." Drake said in a louder voice like Malina had. He wondered whether switching between loud and soft voices was suspicious or not, but he didn't have a better idea.

      • "Long story short, I told him there was no way I'd take him as a husband, but I'd let him serve me as a bodyguard if he wanted," she answered, her jaw set firmly. "Labrynna deserves a better man than a two-time deserter as its king, and I deserve better as a husband." Hopefully. "He is a beautiful horse. But since you're the one riding him, you should choose his name." She rubbed the stallion's nose. "Giving him a name isn't to make him do what you want; it's just to forge a better connection between you two. It makes him more likely to do where you tell him because he trusts you, and it helps you think more respectfully of him, so you'll listen to him when his instincts tell him to go elsewhere." She smiled at Drake. "I can teach you to take care of him and how to understand the signals he'll try to send you. If you want, of course," she added.

        • "Maybe tommorow." Drake said, unintentionally yawning afterwards. "Good night everybody!" Drake said as he entered his tent and fell onto his bed(or whatever they're sleeping on). As he fell asleep, he thought about his feelings for Malina (which he still had trouble understanding) and how he could make the group go to Termina. I really, really want to see my brother again... Drake thought as he fell asleep.

          • Leo turned to see Kairu's meal after several minutes passing with it not being eaten. "Dad, you need to eat. Given everything going on in your life, you need to eat to keep your strength up." Leo then turned to Ryli, "Mo- Miss Ryli," Leo said quickly stuttering and then changed his word as if he was correcting himself. "You need to eat as well."

"I'm not hungry," Kairu told Leo. He tried to force down a few more bites only to feel like he was going to reject it all back up. His mind was focused on his relationship with Ryli. He was still angry at himself for everything that had happened. After a couple minutes, his anger raged as he threw down the plate and food on it to go and isolate himself. What he secretly desired was to bathe. He smelled of a burned house but magnified to the scale of a town, and it was obvious. Catching sight of the distant water in the twilight, he then began to make his way to the nearby lake. "I'm going to go and clean up."

Kairu left the presence of his company. Leo turned to Ryli who was still being stubborn and angry, "Go with him, join him. Like when you two met."

            ---------- Post added 05-05-2013 at 09:58 PM ---------- Previous post was 05-01-2013 at 05:05 PM ----------

(This post is counting as Ryli's and then mine again.)

Ryli watched Kairu walk away in his self-anger. Her eyes looked to Leo who told her to go to him. Her anger at him and her pride refused to let her. One Kairu was out of sight she tried eating a little bit. Leo watched her saddened that fate seems to be tearing the two apart. When she felt like she couldn't stomach eating anymore she got up and went into the tent that he made for them.

She laid there, in what would be called their bed. She tried to force herself to sleep but her mind was stuck on the situation. Sure she was angry, but deep down she longed for the days when he was loyal and trustworthy, both traits she felt he didn't deserve. As much as she also wanted to cry, she also restrained herself. She then began to focus on the much needed sleep.

Kairu eventually returned after a bit of time. He felt the solitude relaxing but he wanted Ryli. When he returned he found the group was mostly gone with the exception of Malina who was still up around the kindling fire (presumably). He looked at Malina as he walked by, his heart slowly figuring out whom of the women to side with and he knew he had to do the right thing. Malina was right about Kairu. He doesn't actually love her, it's merely a spell, or rather a side-effect of one.

"Good night, Princess," Kairu said rather disconnected as he was nearly close to his and Ryli's tent.

Kairu entered the tent where he saw Ryli. She was laying there and he figured that she was still up and just trying to act like she was asleep. Kairu took off all of his other clothes and leaving the thinnest possible layer on. He then climbed under the covers with her.

When he was comfortable he wrapped his arm around her stomach and held her close. He wasn't sure how she would react but he wanted her more than ever and he knew that his heart was winning the battle for Ryli. The pair was silent that even their breathing was quiet.

Kairu had debated if he should say something, but he decided against it. He didn't want to ***** up some more and say something wrong when they were making progress.

Leo was in his tent. He couldn't sleep. He heard Kairu get back and noticed his disconnected voice and emotions and his all-around numb feeling. Leo soon fell asleep after a prayer to the Goddesses asking for Kairu's and Ryli's relationship to be mended.

            • Malina waved good-night to Drake, then continued to fondle the horse for a few minutes. "Bet you miss your nice warm stable, don't you boy," she whispered. "Well I'll take care of you. Come on, let's get you over to the other horses. Zylan, Outlaw, and Black Heart would love to welcome you. I'm sure the four of you would get along great." She took up his reins and led him over to the other horses, who looked up at their approach. She picketed the horse with the others, then took off his saddle and bridle. She placed these with the others', then patted Zylan. "Make sure the others treat him right, okay?" The stallion tossed his head, causing her to smile.
She moved back to the dying fire, sitting down with a sigh. She knew she should go to her tent, to get some sleep, but she was over-tired now. It would take quite a while for her to fall asleep, and she didn't really want to anyways. She just wanted to stay up all night, watching the faint glow of the fire until it died. Maybe she'd try looking at the stars, but no, that was something she had always done with Adriel. She didn't want to do it on her own, or with anyone else. Watching the stars was something she did with her dad alone.
She started as she heard Kairu wish her a good night, glancing up to see him go into his and Ryli's tent. Leo seemed to already have gone into his own. Just me, then, she thought, sighing. She drew her knees up, resting her chin on them. Her eyes were fixed on the fire, but her gaze was distant with thought. I wonder what Daddy is doing. He'll be searching for me for sure, but how? Who will he send? Will he come himself? Nayru forbid he should leave his country just to look for me! Not that the Oracle of Ages could do anything. She was dead. And the Hylian goddesses? Myths, legends, false hopes. False as the love Kairu has for me. She tightened her grip on her knees. Love and Dad. Why do my thoughts always stray to one or the other? The latter is lost to me for many months, if I'll ever get him back, and the former is useless. A fairy tale told to growing girls to keep them innocent of the true world. When I have daughters of my own, I will teach them that love isn't real. That's it's just an illusion created from longing for something unattainable.
With these dark thoughts, Malina passed the night, dozing on occasion, but remaining wakeful enough to build a wall around her heart. Angry at the lose of her innocence, her subconscious hardened her heart, and began brooding on ways to achieve her goal: learn every aspect of magic she could, and reclaiming her throne.

              • The Next Morning - A little before sunrise

Before the sun poked over the northern mountains, Ryli had woken up. Next her was Kairu, holding her as if nothing was wrong. She quickly realized that they were holding hands. She broke her hand away from his hastefully so he wouldn't realize. Although she secretly desired him, she felt that he deserved more anger. After all, he down-right betrayed her trust and thier relationship. Any other man wouldn't even had a chance to recover.

Ryli quietly rolled herself out of Kairu's embrace, careful not to disturb his slumber. After what he's been through yesterday, sleep is something she won't rob from him. Ryli made her way out of her tent, being as silent as possible. Her breath fogged the crispy air.

She then noticed Malina who was still fighting to stay awake. Hudling around the fire was Leo, struggling to stay warm with the embers of the night. Ryli casted a small fire conjuration into the makeshift pit and a fire burned proudly once more. Leo's attention shifted to Ryli. His eye contact was different than usual, as though his mind was elsewhere.

Ryli soon caught on and asked, "What's wrong?"

Leo looked up and dreamily smile. "You always seem to know when I'm not quite feeling right." Although the two met yesterday, Leo implied that Ryli shared a lot of similarities between the 'real' her and the mirrored counterpart. "I need to tell you something."

With all the secrets, deceit, and betrayals, Ryli's look changed to a suspicious and irritated look. Although she wasn't sure she was going to like what he was about to say, she allowed him to continue.

"I've been trying to figure out a way to tell you this, but I lied to you about my relationship between myself, father, and you." Leo paused to catch his thoughts and straighten his thinking again. Ryli's face grew more angry at the fact that he lied to her as well. "You see... you weren't someone who came into my life later, you were there the whole way."

Ryli's facial expression changed from the growing anger to puzzlement. "What do you mean?"

Leo was still feeling unprepared and was trying his hardest to reform his thoughts, almost trying to be careful about what he says. He then simply gave up after choking on his sentece a few times. "You're my Mother."

                • Malina blinked blearily as the fire abruptly flared. She looked up, surprised to see Leo had sat by the fire as well. She wasn't too surprised to see Ryli standing above them, though. Who else could have made the fire light up so quickly? Briefly she wondered what the pair were doing up, before she realized the sun was creeping its way up. She frowned. When had that happened? She had thought it was closer to midnight than dawn. She sighed and unfolded herself, groaning as her muscles complained about remaining in the one position all night. She stood, her head pounding from sleep deprivation, and started to stretch her cramps out. She froze, though, as she heard Leo's statement. His mother? How was Ryli his mother? He wasn't from this dimension, was he? She had thought he said he was from a different Hyrule. Then her sleepy mind realized he was talking about the Ryli from his dimension. She was his mother? But if that was true, why had he hated Kairu so much? She rubbed her head, completely befuddled now. "I thought Kairu met Ryli after you were born," she said, her words somewhat slurred from her exhaustion.

                  • Ryli's face shared the same concern that Malina had just aroused until Leo spoke up. "It was a part of the lie. The two met during the Battle of Castle Town in Valentine's initial assault. The story that was always said is that when Valentine's airships attacked, Ganondorf dispatched the Hylian Militant Forces to help escort and Father happened to have been assigned to the same area Mother was at. The two made eye contact, and well when the assault ended after several days, I'm living proof of what happened next."

Ryli looked down in skepticism. "So if I'm your mother, shouldn't I be dead in your world instead?"

Leo looked at Ryli intrigued by her curiosity. "When I was younger Father moved out and you two separated, but still maintained communications. Father soon found Elizabeth, but after their argument, Father always said that if something ever happened, I should find you and live with you. He always said you were close and that he trusted you. You only proved the truth later shortly before you went missing. I have various permutations between Hylian and Gerudo. Various parts of my skin are tanned and now my eyes have developed."

Ryli was even more confused. "Didn't you say that you were 'wandering' through the Lost Woods and stumbled her by accident?"

"Yes, I did say that, and it was an accident, but getting there wasn't. I wound up tracking your counterpart to the point where the portal was and when I found where the trail ended, there was the portal. I assumed you went through, but upon further analysis, I think you became the portal. You had mentioned how your magic was escalating with dominance, and then when your body couldn't contain it, boom!"

                    • Malina's eyes widened, her sleep momentarily dissipating. "She exploded? She tore a hole between dimensions because her power was too strong?" Unconsciously, she scooted away from Ryli. "Is it really that dangerous? Could that happen here, to this Ryli?" She glanced at where her potion book lay, near where she had eaten her dinner last night. Maybe she could find something in it to prevent it from happening. Otherwise, they'd have to go to a town and buy other books. Hyrule didn't seem to be the place to have a library, at least, so far as she had seen.

                      • Ryli looked horrified, worse than Malina. She was also speechless about how to even understand what Leo had said. Leo on the other hand was skeptical. "Nah, I don't think so. I mean, Mother in the other universe was not as stable as she is here. I am almost confident we as safe."

Ryli wasn't so certain. "I- I don't know." The sheer thought scared her to death. "With how I feel lately, I don't know if I could control it, if something happened."

Leo looked back at Ryli, sympathetic, but reassuring, "Don't worry about it, I believe in you," he said smiling widely.

While the group was talking and focusing on the conversation, no one saw the man approach the camp. When the man reached the point where he was in earshot, the sun had just cracked over the horizon, catching Leo's gaze.

"This world is so beautiful. I don't think I could go back to Hyrule Utopia," Leo said in a trance like voice.

The mysterious man stood there. He had seen the sun rise countless times, but with Castle Town in the turmoil it was in, he felt that the sunset was far from beautiful. "How can you say that?" His faded purple cloak draped over him for the warmth throughout the night. His eyes were black and buldgy from the lack of sleep from the past few nights. The man simply stood there. He made no notion of hostilities making Leo's and Ryli's reaction purely natural.

Leo slightly pulled out his sword, leaving most of it in its sheath. He then recognized the man's cloak with the Royal Family's Crest on the front, like a badge. "He's a Hylian soldier, everyone relax," he said, completely putting away his sword.

                        • Malina relaxed as Leo assured both her and Ryli that there was no danger. Her drowsiness returned like a tidal wave, and she nearly fell asleep. She forced her eyes to remain open, though, even as her head drifted closer to her knees. "Better than a utopia," she murmured as she heard Leo's comment. She giggled. "That doesn't sound right. Utopia is better than anything. Perfect paradise." She glanced up as she heard steel being drawn, although not swiftly, and was surprised to see a man had joined their small group. She looked him over blearily, too tired to be concerned. "Hylian soldier? Why is a Hylian soldier here? Did you do something wrong yesterday, Ryli?" she asked the Gerudo, giggling.

(lol I'm trying to make her sound tired, and instead she sounds like she's high on drugs.)

                          • (To some people, their reactions are identical)

Ryli turned to Malina, "What? No!" secretly, she did have doubts after what happened in Labrynna. "At least.. I don't think." then stepped in front of Ryli. "What do you want, Soldier?"

The man looked at the group. First at Malina who was equally tired, if not more so than himself. After analyzing the group, he then looked at Leo, his eyes sharp and stern, but beared no hostility. Then Ryli, who was full of doubt. "I've come to warn you guys that Castle Town was attacked and that you should stay away. There's nothing left."

Leo's expression went from stern to sympathetic. "We know, Soldier. We were there yesterday, well, some of us were. What exactly happened?"

"It was the Gerudo. They came from the desert in the middle of the night. Next thing we knew, the town's walls were being bombarded. When they fell, next thing we knew, things were coming from the sky and the Gerudo just showed up out of nowhere, killing anyone who resisted. In the matter of hours, the Royal Family surrendered to the onslaught from the invasion. Since then, Castle Town has just been trying to survive. Hundreds have fled to Kakariko already. Others went to other places like Ordona and even as far as Termina. As of now, I have no doubts that Labrynna will take advantage of the situation and retaliate while Hyrule is down. From what I had heard from other soldiers, one of our own was killed during a diplomatic session by a Labrynnian soldier. When Labrynna does attack, we are all doomed."

Leo bit his lip. He knew what had happened, in fact, he was the 'Labrynnian soldier' who killed the Hylian man. Leo debated that that little detail wasn't necessary or needed to be said. It was then that the man saw Ryli and properly identified her race. He gripped his bow and was readied to pull out an arrow when the moment came.

"A Gerudo! Under Hylian law, Article 3, Section 4, Sub-section B, you are all now deemed traitors to the Hylian Kingdom for harboring an enemy. If you do not release the fugitive, then you will all be condemned as Hylian traitors."

Leo stood firm between Ryli and Hylian soldier. "You will stand down, Soldier! She in not an enemy! In addition, the Hylian law is dissolved with the Royal Family's defeat. If you attack us, it will be considered a declaration of war against the Labrynnian Empire. We are not from Hyrule!"

The Soldier glared down his bow. He saw three targets and already began calculating the best order in which to shoot and how to do it. Hyrule is already at war with Labrynna. Attacking you will do nothing but seek revenge for their treachery! Stand aside and bring the Gerudo to me for her death or you all shall die!"

Leo returned his stern face and glared back at the man. Ryli began to ready herself for a fight summoning her fire magic. "No," Leo said back very clearly and commandingly.

The soldier sighed, "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry it came to this." The soldier then, in a swift and fluid motion, grabbed an arrow and readied it. His aim was still on Ryli. He drew the bow and right before he fired, shifted his aim to the undefended Malina.

Leo did his best to react and protect Malina, but from out of sight from the soldier, a sword blade swung up from behind slicing the arrow in half just as it left the bow. Kairu then rolled on the ground and regained his footing, bringing his sword blade up to the soldier's neck. "Stand down, Soldier! That's an order!"

The soldier refused at first, but caught a glimpse of the Royal Family's insignia on Kairu's chest, and the rank denoted with it. "With all due respect, Sir, I ask you to step out of the way. This group is harboring an enemy of Hyrule and it is our duty to execute the enemy and the accomplices!"

Kairu pressed the tip of his blade closer to the soldier's throat, touching the flesh. "That enemy is my wife and this is my group. Stand. Down. Now." Kairu's tone was very aggressive and very protective.

The soldier lowered his bow, but his tone was unchanged. "You'll be hanged for this, Sir."

"If such is my fate, then so be it. But I serve no empire now. I serve my friends. You will do well to not get between that. Kairu held out his other hand to the soldier as if to ask for something. The soldier knew what Kairu was asking for. The soldier then handed Kairu his bow. When Kairu had a firm grip, he lowered his sword and motioned him to sit.

Adrenline forced the sleepiness away again as she heard the snap of a broken arrow and saw that the Hylian soldier had just tried to kill her. Her wide eyes saw Kairu's sword and realized that he had managed to break the arrow before it could hurt her or Leo. She scrambled to her feet, pulling out a vial of an acid she had brewed within the last couple days. She didn't know it was an actual acid, she just read from the book that it could devour human flesh. She prepared herself to throw it at the soldier if he should try to attack her or someone else, but Kairu took the man's bow first. She sat back down and returned the vial to its hiding place, but she didn't relax. Now that there was a tangible threat, she was wide awake, and would remain so for a while.
She was so tense that she actually jumped when Drake sat down next to her. "One, I don't know, and two, whatever you're making," she told him teasingly. "I'll eat just about anything, but I have a hungering for flapjacks. I can show you how to make them, if you don't know."
Phillipians 4:13 - I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
