A tear rolled down Adriel's cheek and a smile broke his somber expression, "I'm sure she won't mind," he said. "If anything happens, I'm sure Gavan will be there for you. He's a great guy. If I were you, I'd keep him close," he said happily, now standing up. His daughter dwarfing him. "Stay strong. May the Goddesses bless you, my Child," he said now walking out of her bedroom door and to the stables to meet up with his escort.

Malina smiled back, trying to put on a brave face. As soon as he left the room, however, she sat back down and broke into tears. Adriel, his mind on Malina and the bracelet she gave him. He reached the stables and got on his horse. He rode out of the stables and met up with his escort, "Let's not keep the Hylians waiting." He kicked his horse and they rode off towards Ordona.

Malina allowed herself to cry for a few minutes after she heard the horses ride away. Then she forced herself to stop. She wiped her tears away, then washed her face. Her hunger had vanished in her grief, but now it returned full force. Gavan ate his breakfast heartily. It didn't matter over-much to him if the Baron had left or not. He was going to enjoy his food no matter what was going on. Malina often teased him that he was little more than a stomach on legs. When they went foraging together in the forest, she often had to scold him for taking more than they needed.
Gavan glanced up from his meal as Malina entered. He smiled as he saw her red eyes and knew she had been crying. Quickly, he wiped his mouth and hands, then moved to intercept her. He took her hands in his, and smiled faintly. "He'll be alright. Remember, he's been fighting since you were born. If anyone can live through a fight, it will be his."The wolf howls his mournful song,
My heart beats as I listen to him.
It rises and falls as he speaks to the moon,
A chilling howl that fills me with joy.
The future isn't set in stone. Even if it was, stones can been broken.

Malina laughed at Gavan. She couldn't help it if she could think of so many things that could go wrong. That she could see them all happen before her eyes. She had always had a vivid and active imagination. Gavan, on the other hand, took what he was given. He didn't dream beyond his next meal or nap. She pecked his cheek, then went to get her breakfast from the cheif. Afterwards, she joined her friend at the table, making sure to keep her food away from his so that he wouldn't get the two mixed up.Phillipians 4:13 - I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Gavan smiled after Malina, then returned to his meal. He chewed thoughtfully, wondering how he could distract Malina. He had been hoping to take her out of the country for awhile, but the Baron had specifically forbidden it. Maybe I can take her for a race, he mused. Malina did like to ride through the forest. A long race, maybe followed by a picnic...The wolf howls his mournful song,

Malina sighed. Gavan had left, though to do what, she hadn't a clue. So she was on her own. Her mother took care of the going-ons of the palace, so Melina had only her studies to attend to. And those were so boring and easy she finished them too quickly. Right now, she was bored. So she headed down to the stables. Her silver horse, Zylan, nickered as she entered. She smiled at him. "Come on, boy. I need a ride." She saddled and bridled the stallion, then mounted and set off. She pushed the horse into a canter and took off north. She just needed to get away.

*Malina leads Kaida and Donovan from "Beyond the Fog"*
Kaida shrugged. "I'm fine. I just don't like city folk. And the powerful who like to wave their power around like a flag drive me up the wall." She waved a hand at Malina. "People like her, who think their high position gives them the right to do as they please and drag whoever they want wherever they feel."
Malina grinned as the city appeared around the rock wall. "There!" she said excitedly. It was a beautiful city, even if she was a resident of it. The Black Tower remains were clearly visible from where they stood, towering over the rest of the city. The palace rose in competition, its white marble glittering in the sunlight. The stores and houses scattered in between them where made mostly of wood, but the dark brown contrasted nicely with the black stone of the tower and the white of the palace. Or so Malina always felt. A lazy river coiled through the city. She halted Zylan and turned to grin at Donovan, purposely ignoring Kaida. "That's the palace," she said, pointing. "That's where we're heading. Unless you want to stop somewhere on the way?"Phillipians 4:13 - I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

"I know what you mean," Donovan whispered to Kaida as they rounded the rock wall to see the city. It was pretty amazing, but he felt different than before. He had felt excited to see the city and go to the palace, but something drowned it out. He felt sick. Not like an illness, but he just felt weird going into a palace. He had been out in Termina's wilderness for his whole life, and now he was letting this Malina girl just escort them to her palace? No. He had so much more to see than that fancy, shining palace. He hadn't come here to meet a Lady, or be in a palace. He had come for adventure. "Don't worry, we won't be here very long." He whispered to Kaida. "We're adventurers, not tourists." His plan was, if they ended up staying there overnight, to run away from it at night. He looked up at the Lady. "I suppose we could just go to the Palace now. Do you know the time?"Comment

Kaida lifted her mouth in a half-smile. "I know," she murmered. "But if this girl is like most noble-born girls, she's going to drag us all over the place. And when we live, she'd probably going to tag along behind us." She rolled her eyes with annoyance.

"Uhm, I think the Palace would be fine," Donovan told her. He didn't want any attention from the public since he was with the Lady. He wanted to leave her as soon an possible. He looked at her stallion as a new idea arose. "Are there any places that sell horses around here?" He asked. Maybe he could get a horse and assure the Lady that they were fine and independent so they could leave. The closer it came, the more Donovan dreaded sleeping in a palace.Comment

Malina frowned thoughtfully. "I think the inn has some, but I think they only lend horses for quick jaunts into the forest. I'm not sure if anywhere else does. There might some place out of town, but I wouldn't know. The palace has some, of course." She smiled brightly at Donovan. "I can sell you a couple horses. Maybe even some siblings of Zylan here." She patted her horse.
Kaida shuddered slightly at the thought. She'd much prefer a mare, or even a gelding, to the giant stallion Malina rode. And silver was such an annoying color for a horse. Kaida would prefer a black or bay horse. It could be hidden much better. She glanced side-ways at Donovan. "Maybe I'll check em out sometime," Donovan replied. As he went through this adventure, he started getting the feeling that he wanted to travel the world when he grew up, and thought a horse would be really helpful. He wasn't exactly going for a bright, silver stallion, but thats why he was eager to check out the horses. Of course, he could probably find some farm or something outside the city, if he didn't like the Palace horses. He would also need to raise money for one if he really was going to get one. He didn't carry a single rupee, but maybe he could hunt for someone.Comment

"I'm not saying I'm gonna actually get one," Donovan told Kaida. "I just got the idea. If I end up moving around a lot, a horse could help. But I am broke. I suppose I could go around on my own feet like always." He always thought riding a horse would be cool, but agreed with Kaida and thought he wouldn't be able to afford one and it would be pointless. And he never considered the currency of this country. They were walking through a market, so it was easy enough to find out. He looked over at a market stall to see a woman buying some weird fruits. As he expected, she handed over some money to the vendor. Rupees. Donovan pointed over to them. "Looks like they also use rupees."Comment
