Kairu sat there trying to think. It took him awhile to recollect memories before his "blocked" memories. He tried to remember, "Autumn.... Colonel Autumn. If I recall correctly, I even served with him up until I temporarily left the army. Afterwards... I went... I did a freelancer mission... for the Kokiris. It was being... attacked by some Skull Kids... Sorry, that's all I got right now."

    MEANWHILE

Adriel put on the gauntlet as he was instructed and he put it on. Now what?" Adriel was now fairly curious about this contraption. "It looks like a normal gauntlet. It's heavier than the standard equipment. I'm assuming it's slightly more reinforced than usual? Outside of that, it looks normal."

Gyan chuckled as he revealed another one on his left wrist. "It is more than a gauntlet, Sir. It is a blade." As Gyan finished his sentence, (with his arm in front of him) he turned his palm to face the roof but bent it downwards so it was slanted. And with that, a blade came out of the gauntlet. "It also works like this." Gyan said, thrusting his arm forward and making his palm go up, which also summoned the blade. "Why don't you try, sir?"

Ryli took a deep breath before opening the door to the castle's dining room. The guards at the entrance were easy to slip past. All she had to do was start a small fire that would not become large enough to be noticed until she had gotten a safe distance from it. By the time she was hidden near the entrance, the guards had left their posts to put out the shrub that was now blazing. Before she entered the room where she would plead for the princess to listen for word on Kairu, her memories of the time they spent away from each other came flooding back.

She read the note over and over, hating that he did not give her a proper goodbye. She knew she would have to find him, even if it meant joining in the fight herself. She couldn't be without him. She trained every day, growing stronger and increasing her control over fire and ice. Her time without him hardened her; she wasn't the same happy-go-lucky, optimistic person she was before he left.

Finally, she felt she was ready to set out. On the day of her departure, a guard had told her that he could be either in Labrynna or Holodrum, but that they had lost contact with him. She became sick with worry, and set out at once for Labrynna, where she would beg the royalty there to keep watch for Kairu. Every night before she set up camp, she would continue her training and meditations so she would be ready for whatever challenges lie ahead.

Shaking off the thoughts of those lonely nights, Ryli pulled herself together and entered the dining room. She had been lucky that the guards had been sympathetic enough to her cause to let her in in the first place. Once she was in the huge hall, she scanned the room, her eyes finding the princess in a seat of honor easily. Then her eyes fell on the man next to her...Kairu. Her heart felt like it skipped a beat and her smile returned for what seemed like the first time in an eternity.

Ryli managed, barely, to keep herself from sprinting over to him. Forgetting her manners due to her excitement, she cut off the princess and hugged Kairu from around the back of the chair and kissed him on the cheek. Tears of joy welled up in her eyes as she said, "I missed you so much... You have no idea how worried I was."

Malina nodded, scribbling on her parchment as Kairu talked. She was tempted to ask what Kokiri and Skull Kids were, but decided that could wait until later. "Were you-" she started to ask, but a girl came running across the room and hugged Kairu. Malina stared at her. Obviously she knew Kairu, and apprently very well, perhaps even intimately. But Kairu hadn't mentioned having a girlfriend. Of course, he might have forgotten. But how could anyone forget having a lover, and still remember more mundane things like Colonel Autumn? "Um, I hate to break you two up after finally being reunited, but who are you?"

Ryli had a confused look on her face when the princess spoke to her. Surely Kairu told her about me... She bowed quickly to the princess, then she lifted her head high and said, "I am Ryli Akilah from Hyrule. This is my boyfriend, Kairu, but I see you two have already met..." She trailed off, waiting on Kairu to say something.

Kairu turned around to see who held him. He looked at Ryli, his eyes not showing the feelings that he would have, if his memory wasn't blocked. "Pardon me, Miss, but... do I know you? I don't seem to remember meeting you." He wasn't sure why, but when Ryli said she was his girlfriend, it triggered something in the back of his mind. Nothing to jump on, but her name, Ryli Akilah, seemed familiar, like he should know, but simply didn't.

              MEANWHILE

Adriel was following the instructions Gyan gave him. In no time, he got the hang of drawing the blade out both ways. "Interesting... and how will this help out? My soldiers, as I'm sure you know, are well equipped and trained. I fail to see why this can help."

Ryli's temper flared instantly. "Is this some sort of sick joke? You find some princess who's prettier than me and all of a sudden you 'forget' who I am?" She felt her temperature rise and little licks of fire jumped from her fingertips. "Now I know how your ex-wife feels," she added, golden eyes blazing. She turned to the princess and said, "Your Highness, let this be your warning, he cheated on his ex-wife with me, and now he's cheating on me with you. Do you really think he won't do the same to you?" She struggled to get a grip on her anger. She managed to calm the flames forming on her fingertips, but just barely.

"Whoa, whoa! Hold on? What are you talking about? I've never been married! At least.. I don't remember. Look, Lady, I don't know who you are, but I swear I don't know you. I remember going to help some of the Kokiri and then I got hit on the head or something and I woke up with Princess Malina. I promise if I could remember who you are, I'd say so. Besides, you're just as pretty as the Princess here," Kairu said flashing a flirty smile at her.

Part of Ryli's heart melted when she saw that smile, but she knew it was an act. "You had a wife and a son... We met when we were both fighting for the Kokiri... How could you not remember? I can tell you everything that happened, I can make you remember again. Trust me, please. You don't remember this either, but you love me. You were in love with me, and I was in love with you." Tears began to well up in her eyes. She felt like she was on an emotional roller coaster.

                    • Gyan frowned on the inside. This could go sideways. "Well, sir, what if one of your soldiers manages to get disarmed? What if they are reduced to fighting with their fist? This could very well be their saving grace!" Gyan said, pointing at his gauntlet. Half of what courage Gyan had left was gone. Getting angry with someone who ruled a country was not a smart idea. "Besides," Gyan continued calmly, "If you ever turn some of your soldiers into assassins or spies, this is the perfect assassination tool."

                      • Kairu felt the need to stand up and hug her, "Look, you seem like a wonderful woman, and if you're telling the truth, I can understand why we fell in love. But I want you to understand, I don't remember anything. The last thing I remember is helping the Kokiri. I got jumped by a Skull Kid and I guess I died somewhere along my amnesia," Kairu said now holding the healing skin of his torso. He even showed Ryli, "See? I got stabbed, and according to Malina, he Father, Adriel, retrieved my body. That's all I know that's happened up until you showed up with your story. I'm not sure what else I can say."

                        MEANWHILE

Adriel looked at the man and smiled, "You're very determined for me to accept this, aren't you? Very well, you bring up a sound case. How much would you like for me to purchase several of these? Maybe about 20 or so as well as the blueprints so we can continue producing these."

                        • Ryli sighed. "Can't you just try to love me again? We could start over, from the beginning. I'll tell you everything about me and everything I know about you. You loved me once, so why wouldn't I be able to make you love me again? You can't just leave like that... I know you don't remember our relationship, but trust me when I say that together, we can make it through anything." She wanted so badly for him to say yes. She was scared the princess had stolen him from her, and there was nothing she could do about it.

                          • "Ryli, right? I'm sure you're more than welcome to stay here. I've sworn allegiance to Labrynna and have abandoned Hyrule. I no longer choose to serve the people who left me to die. These people, I owe them something, and I'm sure with the Princess' permission, we both can stay in Lynna City."

                            • Ryli's jaw dropped. "You...abandoned Hyrule? Wow, you really don't remember, do you? You don't remember how my father is trying to take over and how we HAVE to stop him? You don't remember spending your life in service to the Royal Family? No, they didn't leave you, you died. I came looking for you... I didn't leave you."
