Ryli moved calmly to the center of the cell and sat with her legs crossed. She began to meditate, allowing her complete control of her emotions. All of her worries began to slowly fade away.

Adriel took a moment to re-compose himself from the fight with his daughter. "Come in!" Adriel barked, trying not to take his aggression out on the guest. He kept trying to deep breathe while he waited for the guest speak.sigpic

"Thank you, Servant. You may leave," Adriel said shooing the maid away. "See Malina? Kairu knows where to place his loyalty. He may not have declared his intentions to me, but if he loved her, he wouldn't let her go without a fight."sigpic

"Nayru's blood and tears!" Malina swore, slamming her fist on the desk. She glared at her father. "Kairu didn't swear to you. His loyalty is to Hyrule still, or else to me. And I know that he can't remember his affection for Ryli because of my spell. But that is beside the point. You have no proof that Ryli is a spy other than your suspicions towards strangers. It's not fair to kill her without discovering the truth, although I doubt you'll listen to a word she tells you as long as you believe she's a spy." She turned on her heel and marched to the door. Before she exited, though, she turned back to send one more remark at her father. "I wonder if you've lived so long on the battlefield that you don't know how to live in peace." Then she left, banging the door shut behind her as she marched back to her spell book. Adriel slouched in his chair. His heart was broken by hearing his own daughter say that to him. "Goddesses help me...," Adriel mumbled elbowing his desk and planting his face in his palms.
MEANWHILE
Kairu was helping some of the people clean up from the skirmish. He was still trying to mentally think through how he was going to get Ryli out. He felt like he should just march up to the Baron and tell him off, but in his mind, he'd feel like Kairu was completely ungrateful and throw him into the dungeons as well. Instead, he felt like a jailbreak was his best option. But in order to do that, he'd need Malina's help.sigpic

Malina stormed up to her little table and grabbed her spell book. She turned, grabbed Kairu's arm, and started dragging him away. She refused to say anything until they were in the stable, near Zylan's stall. Then she stopped and whirled on the older man. "You just let the guards take her?" she shouted at him. "Do you know what my father thinks she is, what he plans to do? He wants to execute her, Kairu! Why is Nayru's blessed name did you let them take her!" She was quivering now with rage, but also hurt that Adriel hadn't listened to her.Phillipians 4:13 - I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Malina took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. She opened her book and started leafing through it. "I might have a potion that can change your appearance, so you can go in to see her. Father forbade anyone to see her unless he was with them, but I think I can get around that easily enough." She glanced up at him. "You are right, it will make you an enemy of Labrynna, but I'll be able to get you out of the palace, and I think I can arrange for you to hide in the town for a little while before pushing on." She turned back to the book. "The only real issue will be getting supplies for you. I won't be able to take them straight to you, or Father will notice, nor can I just leave them wherever you'll be hidding. So I'll have to know where you plan to flee to, and find a spot on the path to leave them where scavengers and theives won't find them." She paused and rubbed her forehead. Malina frowned. She was making too complex a plan again. She nodded. "That might work. I think I know where he keeps them. The only problem will be if he starts taking them with him, which I'm certain he will. After all, I told him loud and clear I didn't like what he was doing, so he might suspect me of trying to stop him." She closed her book and put it in one of Zylan's saddle-bags. "I can have the grooms ready a few horses for us, then take give them a forgetfullness potion so they won't remember. Just a few drops so they'll only lose an hour or two each." She turned to look at Kairu. "It might be best to do it tomorrow night, so that we have all day today and tomorrow to prepare. She sighed and rubbed her temples. "I'll write out a list of all the things we need and we can go into town later to buy anything we can't grab here without arousing suspicion."Phillipians 4:13 - I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Malina sighed. "I know. I just wish there was more I could do. Your memory..." She trailed off, remembering the recipe in her book. She looked up at Kairu. "Do you want to try that tea? It might be better to do it here, where there's a proper healer, in case something goes wrong." She was deathly afraid she might accidently poison him, and she wasn't sure if there was an antidote potion in the book, or if it would even work for the tea.Phillipians 4:13 - I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
