  • Malina smiled. "Thank you." She kissed his cheek, then took his hand and lead the way to the garden, making sure to grab her spell book again so she could double-check which leaves she needed. She loved the garden, with its peaceful atmosphere and beautiful flowers, although she preferred a good gallop with Zylan when she was upset. Carefully, she plucked a few of each of the leaves specified in the book, then went into the kitchen. A pot of water was already boiling over the fireplace, for lunch or dinner, she assumed, so she filled a teapot, placed the leaves in, and took it back outside with a mug. She set them both next to Kairu. "The book doesn't say how long to let it seep, but I suspect before it has to cool down a bit before you can drink it anyways."

    • Kairu was laying on the ground looking up at the sky and the clouds. His mind was still trying to access his forgotten memory, but with no luck. "Ok, thank you," he said not breaking his stance for an instance, his voice sounding depressed and downtrodden. He was keep his mind at a distance of the 'here and now' to avoid thinking more about Ryli and Malina.

      • Malina sat down next to him and looked out over the garden. "I'll miss this place," she said, not really sure if Kairu was listening. "Those orchids over there are my favorite flowers. I had to stop Dad from telling the gardeners to pull them. I've been taking care of them myself since we first moved here. Those roses Mom planted. She said red roses mean love, while pink means affection or joy. I like the yellow ones best, but she says they mean friendship, so if anyone ever gave me a rose, I'd prefer a white one. It means purity and innocence.
"Then there's all the herbs. I might not be much for cooking, but I love to go through the herbs and smell them. Some are sweet, some are bitter. That one tastes good on fish, but that one tastes much better in a tea." She pointed to different plants that grew close to each other. "That one is especially good with bread, while that one is delicious when toasted with apples." She sighed and hugged her knees to her chest. "At least I'll be taking Zylan with me. He's my most treasured friend, even though he's only a horse."

        • As Ryli meditated, a cool calm fell over her. A very small ring of ice formed around her on the stone floor. She knew she could weaken the bars by freezing them and then heating them repeatedly, but she promised Kairu that she would not put up a fight. It still puzzled her that he would make her turn herself in. The Gerudo people were not very well-liked in the world, so she would likely be regarded with suspicion.

          • "Well you could always look at it like this: You get to see new plants and herbs, collect them, and should the need for a medical emergency arise, you're prepared. You could even be a travelling doctor, if you wanted," Kairu smiled at the thought of adventuring with Malina. He knew that the infatuation he has for her was a side-effect of the potion, but he still couldn't hide it completely. And then there's Ryli. If he ever did get his memories back, would he love her the same as she claims? Or perhaps it's just a lie. For all he knew, Ryli could actually be a spy, but he was taking a gamble on trusting her. She seemed to have been close to Kairu and knew him well. So the odds are she is telling the truth.

            • Malina shrugged. "Not a very good doctor. All I know are potions and magic, and only a little at that. I might be an alright witch doctor, but would anyone think I'm a witch looking at me like this?" She spread her arms, showing off her blouse and leggings. "I have a black dress, but it isn't really practical outside of the ball room. Maybe I can get something in town later." She sighed. "I'm sorry. All I'm doing is leaving my home. You lost your memory and your life. You have more of a reason to be wallowing in self-pity than I do." She laid a hand on the teapot. "This should be cool enough now, if you want to try it."

              • Kairu clasped his hand on Malina's with mixed emotions, "Look, I know it's hard for you. I may have lost everything but with your help, I'm about to get it back. Maybe when that conflict with Holodrum is resolved, we can come back and you can come home. Then again, who knows? Maybe you'll enjoy being away. If you want, you could even be an ambassador to Labrynna. After all, you are the Princess." Kairu poured the tea into the cup. He blew the steam off once more. He smiled wide as his anxiety and nervousness took over. "Bottoms up!" he said down the whole drink in nearly one large gulp. Kairu set the cup down and he could feel some of his brain working to get the memories restored. He stood up and felt truly reborn. His smile soon faded to a concerned frown and he suddenly passed out. He started to shake, he was going into shock from an unknown allergic reaction. He was, in fact, dying... again.

                • "Maybe," Malina said with a shrug. She watched Kairu fill the mug and drain it anxiously. She was still uncertain about this, after reading the warning in the book. When Kairu stood and smiled, she let out a breathe she hadn't realized she'd been holding and unclenching her fingers, which had been digging into her knees. She was about to stand too, when Kairu passed out and started shaking. "Merciful Nayru, no!" she cried. One of the gardners, hearing her shout, hurried over. "Get the physician!" she yelled at him. He glanced at Kairu and hurried away. Malina tried to get Kairu to stop shaking, unsure of what else she could really do.

                  • A doctor came running out as fast as he could. He asked Malina what happened. At this point Kairu's eyes rolled to the back of his head showing that the shock was getting worse.

                    • "He-he drank some tea, but I-I think he was allergic to s-some of the i-ingrediants," Malina told the physician. She turned to face him, barely holding back the tears. "It's my fault. I thought it would help him, but he couldn't remember if he was allergic to any of the herbs, so I shouldn't have let him drink it. But I did and now he's going to die." Now the tears really started flowing. Malina knew she wasn't accomplishing anything by blaming herself, but what can I say? She's a teenage girl.

                      • The doctor turned to Kairu's body, not giving in to his sympathy to Malina. He turned around to dig through his bag. A few "lifelong" seconds later, he pulled out a cow bezoar and inserted it down Kairu's throat. He closed his mouth and forced it closed until he started coughing, a sign that the body accepted the bezoar and it's doing its job. After several seconds of choking, the violent shaking stopped. The doctor smiled and then comforted Malina, "Don't worry, Princess, he'll be alright now. Next time, let me know about this beforehand, alright?"

                        • Malina nodded, tears still streaming down her face. "Yes, sir. Thank you so much." She sniffled and looked at Kairu. "Does he need to rest or anything? Are you sure he'll be alright?"

                          • "Just give him a few minutes so his body can recover. Outside of that, he'll be perfectly fine," the doctor smiled again. "Oh, and one more thing, I won't tell your father about this. It seems he's has enough on his plate already over some Gerudo woman. Well, I best better be getting back up to the infirmary. See me if anything else happens."

                            • "I won't, thank you," Malina assured him, smiling. "Thank you for your help." She waved farewell and knelt next to Kairu. "I'm so sorry," she murmered to him. In an attempt to distract herself from her guilt, she pulled out a piece of parchment and a charcoal stick, and started to work on the list of supplies, muttering aloud some of the stuff. "We'll need food and water, of course. Tents would be a good idea, too, if we can get them. Might just be better to get some sturdy blankets and drape them over rocks if it rains. I'll need to check my book to see if I need to buy any new tools, but I think the ones I have will be fine. I should get some different clothes too. The ones I have won't last long on the road. I should pack some of my jewelry too, in case we need to get some quick money." She paused and frowned. "I have my rapier and my silver knife, but will those be weapons enough? I'll have to get some other ones for Kairu and Ryli, although I'm not sure where I'll find decent weapons, or what kind they prefer."

                              • Kairu finally woke up from the attack and he kinda blinked. Malina was hard at work on her list of supplies. Kairu started thinking and trying to recollect what happened. His memory actually working. He could remember Ryli and their relationship as well as everything that happened since his "death". He threw Malina's list to the side as he gave her a big smooch on her lips. When he felt it conveyed enough appreciation, he pulled away from her lips. "I'm sorry, I just... I don't know how else to convey my thanks and appreciation. The mix worked and I can remember Ryli."
