  • "I'm sorry, Malina. I didn't mean any offense to you or the horses. I just don't feel comfortable about riding a horse right now. Maybe I can ride with you, and if Ryli knows how, she rides by herself so Outlaw isn't strained too much either?"

    • Malina smiled. "Ryli might get jealous of that," she teased. "But sure, I don't see why not. I didn't mean to force you to ride if it made you uncomfortable. I can teach youl later, when time isn't so short." She patted Outlaw, then led him and Zylan back to the stables. She apologized to the groom at the horse's lack of exercise as she turned the black horse over to him. She led her stallion to his stall and removed his riding equipment before turning him loose in the corral again. Then she went back to Kairu and smiled. "I'll need to grab my purse and cloak, then we can head to the markets."

      • "Well to be honest, I think if she found out about us spending this much time together, she might be jealous anyways. As long as we behave, I see nothing wrong with it." Kairu followed Malina and was being company for her.

        • "True," Mali a replied. "I think we can behave ourselves, though." She grinned at the older man, then pulled her cloak on from its hook by her door and belted her purse on. She put her list in it, then turned/and led the way out of the palace and to the markets. "I know where we can get most of the stuff we need, but there are a few things I'm not so sure of. If you want to get a weapon, I think we should do that first, so that if the blacksmith needs to make you one, he can work on it and have it ready for us by the time we leave. I'd also like to stop by the herbalist's shop. She might be able to get me some of the ingrediants I'll need for any potions I'll need to brew." She frowned thoughtfully. "I probably should have brought Zylan, since we're going to be getting so much stuff. I wouldn't trust a serving boy to keep his mouth. Gossip can run rampent among the servents and I'm not sure how much of it my father listens to. After all, it can be a well of information."

          • "If you want to bring him, you can. As for a sword, do you know if your father kept mine? It's not sentimental or anything, but it was balanced for my hand."

            • Malina grimaced. "I'd rather not bring Zylan in again. I can probably have some of the stuff delivered to the palace, although I'd have to be careful which ones to have delivered. As for your sword, I doubt it. I didn't see it when he brought you. Don't worry, though, the blacksmith is an expert at specifics. He's the one who made me my silver knife and rapier. He's also quick, so unless it's a particularly difficult piece, he'll certainly have it donw by too morrow morning, sooner if I pay him extra."

              • "I could simply use a regular sword. I could even bring along a soldier's uniform, if need be. You never know when it'll be helpful." Kairu was keeping up with Malina.

                • Malina nodded. "That might be a plus. The other guards would be more likely to let you near the cell. They still won't let you in with Ryli, but at least you can get near her without raising alarms." She chewed her lip thoughtfully. "Probably could find some regular swords. Just depends on what 'regular' means. After all, Namar often has lots of swords, in different lengths, widths, and styles." She sighed. "Well, let's get to it."

(Should we just go ahead and skip to after the market trip? I can RP Maline getting the keys real quick, then Kairu can break Ryli out, although we need her for that, don't we.)

                  • "Let's go then," Kairu said flashing a smile. He was getting anxious because as the day finished up, the time to betray the man who spared his life and genuinely cared about him was getting closer. He then started to think about Ryli and their freedom.

(A TIMELAPSE TO THE NEXT DAY)

Kairu woke up early. He looked out the window. Rain was hitting the window. Kairu sighed as a flash of lightning illuminated the room. He got himself clothed and then looked over to the prepared clothing and his sword.

                    MEANWHILE

Adriel was already up. He hadn't slept all night because his mind was stressing over what Malina had said, however, he stood by his convictions. Labrynna's at war and a Gerudo managing to sneak into his Castle and drawing a blade on Malina, was enough of a reason to treat her as a war criminal.

                    • Malina was in her room, having been up since up early. She was in the process of making an invisibility potion, or so she hoped. It would make it easier to sneak Ryli out of the dungeons, and for Malina to slip into her father's study to swipe the keys. Still, the young witch wasn't sure how well it would work, especially after her last potion had nearly killed Kairu. She was determined to try it first, so that she would be the only one to suffer the consquences of any mistakes.
As she worked over her cauldron, she thought about what she was going to do. She was about to disobey her father. True, she did that often, like every other child. But this. This was major. She was about to help in the rescue of a publicly accused criminal, a spy of the enemy. She was going to be branded as a traitor to the country. To her home, her family. But it's for the right thing. I'm doing it to keep my father from making a big mistake. A tear silently rolled down her cheek.

                      • Kairu knocked on Malina's door and invited himself right in. "Hey, it's almost time." Kairu studied her face momentarily and walked up to her. He swiped his hand across her face and wiped the tear from her eye. He embraced her, "I know... I am finding it hard to do this as well. He helped give me a second chance and I feel wrong for betraying him like this."

                        • Malina shook her head. "H-he brought it on himself. He shouldn't have treated her as a c-common criminal when she hadn't done anything." She rubbed her eyes, then took a deep breath. "This is about ready," she said, her voice firmer. She frowned at the deep blue potion. "It's supposed to be nearly black though. I can't figure out what I missed." She looked at the book, which was open on the desk beside her, frowning. "Maybe I didn't put enough heather nectar in, or maybe nightshade." She bit her lip. Nightshade was poisonous so she hoped that wasn't what it was. She looked further down the page, to see what negative effects the potion could have, but the only warnings she saw was that there were many herbs in it that were poisonious under normal circumstances and that it had to be prepared with perfect precision

                          • Kairu pecked her cheek politely, "Just try it once more, ok? I'll stay with you so if anything goes wrong, I'l help you and be there for you, Ok?" Kairu continued to embrace Malina in comfort, "I won't let anything happen to you, Princess."

                            • Malina sighed. "Alright." She smiled up at Kairu. "Thank you," she murmured before sliding from his arms. She carefully picked up the cauldron and dumped its contents out the window. "We'll know if that batch worked if the grass vanishes," she muttered as she set the large pot back over the fire. She then proceeded to remake the potion, every once in a while, pausing to ask for Kairu's opinion on what the book meant, in case she had misinterpreted the last time.
Finally satisfied it was the right shade of blue as she finished, she poured some of the thick liquid into a beaker and the rest into a jug for Kairu to take to Ryli later. She grimaced at it. "If the smell is anything to judge by, this is going to be the most foul thing I have ever tasted. And I used to eat Gavan's mud pies." She looked at Kairu. "If I drink this, there'll be no turning back. Are we sure we want to do this?" There could be places he might be able to turn back later, but this was certainly her last chance. She wanted to be sure he was completely on board, when she herself doubted their chances of succeeding.

                              • "And leave Ryli to be publicly executed for your father's suspicions? No. I will do what I have to. You get the key and bring it to my room. I'll be there changing into a soldier's uniform. I'll then go and break her out and we'll make haste out of a Labrynna."
