"They must've come from the Southern Swamps. Although it's north to us, looking at a map of Termina, it's the farthest most area. If I recall correctly, the Deku Palace actually resides in the heart of Southern Swamp. If they're willing we could possibly even extend a trade contract with them as well."sigpic

Malina frowned. "So that's the Hylian's name? That's a wierd name." She turned to look down the hall, to where the physicians had gone with the body. "Oh. I knew that." Malina glared up at her father, daring him to contradict her. "Kairu," she said slowly, tasting the word with her tongue. "That doesn't sound as wierd, even though he is foreign." She smiled. "I like it." Then she frowned. "Wait, why would Hyrule and Holodrum attack us? Hyrule alone could wipe us off the map if it chose to. "Hyrule could desire our resources. And we also have a large tower, and this palace. They are enough for any country to want us. Hyrule, could easily want more land. It's getting too big for its own good, and will, in time, fall," Adriel said convicting Hyrule of its own arrogance, completely clueless of the attack and capture of Castle Town by Zant and Ganondorf.sigpic

Malina shrugged. "They have that gigantic field with next to no one residing in it. If they need more land, they ought to settle that first. Although they might come after us for the Black Tower. It is pretty big, isn't it." She moved to a window and peered out at the tower. "Do you think that's why Holodrum dislikes us so much? Because of the Black Tower? Or is it because of the Maku Tree?"

Malina blinked in surprise, then smiled and hugged her father. "May they watch over you too." Then she turned and pattered down the hall to her room. As soon as she closed the door, she changed into her nightdress, undoing her braid as well. She pulled a book off her shelf and started leafing through it. The book was about theories of magic, along with recipes for various potions. She wanted to find something she could use to try bringing Kairu back. Whoever killed him had put Labrynna in danger, and she wanted to find out who it was, and why.Phillipians 4:13 - I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Adriel proceeded to his chambers. He sat down at the edge of the bed, his wife already asleep. He kissed her on the forehead, thankful he still had her, as well as Malina. He started to unsuit his uniform that was smelled like Ordona's woods mixed with the smell of battle. It was slightly tattered and stains of dirt and body odor were visible. He was in his britches and climbed into bed. He turned to look at the wall when his wife turned, as if by command, and got close, wrapping her arm around him. The instant comfort helped Adriel take his focus off of Kairu and the transpired events in Ordona.sigpic

Malina had burned through two candles before she finally found the potion she had been looking for. She had been certain there was a potion for revival in the book, but now that she had it, she hesitated after reading the name, Spiritus Vitae. Maybe there would be something bad in this. Something that could go wrong. But she had to find out who had killed Kairu. Why someone would disrupt the ceasefire. So she steeled herself, and read:
Malina frowned. Sage, thyme, rosemary, lavender, dittany, and beer root would be easy enough to find in the forest, and she could easily find a cat to steal hair from. The problem would be the unicorn and dragon blood. If she could even find them, they would be extremely expensive. And where was she supposed to find a knife made of silver? She sighed. "This is going to take more work than I thought it would. Especially if I'm to keep it from Daddy." She closed the book, placed it back on the shelf, then blew out the candle and went to bed. Her rest was fitful and uneasy as she dreamed of all the things that could go wrong.Spiritus Vitae

Unicorn and Dragon Blood
Stir with ivy rod in a hardened oak bowl during the new moon.
First place the dragon blood in the bowl with the lavender and the ash of burned sage. Proceed to add thyme and dittany, until the potion turns a dark shade of purple. Hold over fire until brew starts bubbling, adding cat hair and beer root, stirring thoroughly after each addition. When potion is bubbling, remove from heat, add rosemary. If concocted correctly, potion will turn deep red. Replace over heat, stirring slowly. Add unicorn blood until potion is dark blue. Allow to sit under the new moon until the sun rises.
