  • Stari Diplomacy (Two Days before the attack)

Nyx and her four bodyguards, as well as her cheetah, Luna, reached the Stari Village. She was taken aback by the familiar sites, and the loss of 'home'. Many of the Stari turned to her in either disgust, fear, or shock, or even all of them. The group approached the Chieftain's Hut. Two aggressive looking guards readied into a battle position. The Chieftain emerged from behind the curtain and signaled them to stand down. He invited Nyx and Luna into the hut for the private conversation.

"Sit down," the Chieftain ordered her. "You have made a bold gesture returning here. Where is your sister, Amaya? Has her time finally come?"

Nyx looked at him in anger at the condescension. "Speak another word like that of my sister, and I'll have you killed where you stand," Nyx growled enough to be heard.

"My.... what happened to you, Nyx? You were always a good child. You followed the rules, you were a great student. Until you left the Village. No matter, I am not going to discuss the past. Why have you returned? And who are those men out there?" The Chieftain said, fear now trembled in his throat.

"Chieftain, I am here to gain your support in the battle ahead," Nyx said, as a true Stari.

"What battle? We have been on a cease fire with the Deku for awhile now. Have they threatened us?" the Chieftain asked, with concern in his words.

"No Chieftain, with Logata. My Master is planning an attack on Logata. He's promised no one in the Forest will be harmed. But should you agree to ally yourself with him, he will reward us handsomely."

The Chieftain was surprised at what Nyx had said. He had heard of the world outside the crude comfort of the Forest, but that a 'global war' is about to start, it's unheard of to him.

"Nyx, I would like time to think about this. The future of the Stari is rested into this decision. I do not take it lightly."

Nyx sighed, "Chieftain, may I remind you that time is of the essence. I will return in the morning for your decision." And Nyx left the hut leaving the Chieftain alone.

Nyx returned to the Cheiftain's hut. She fisted her hand over her heart and bowed respectfully, knowing that a little kissing-up might be required to win over his support. She barely slept at all the other night in anticipation for the battle and wondering if the Stari would be fighting by their side.

"Cheiftain, have you had enough time to think about your answer? Joining this war would surely be worth your while," she said, giving a ghost of a smile that Nyx knew the Cheiftain would remember from times long past.

The Cheiftain sighed and looked up, running his hand through his hair. When he looked down, Nyx could see that his eyes were bloodshot, showing that he got as little, if not less, sleep as she did. "If it had not been you that was sent... Maybe this outcome would be different," he said quietly, barely above a whisper while shaking his head slowly. "I have a weak spot for you though, Nyx. The answer is yes, the Stari will join your Master's forces. This just better be as worth my while as you say it will be if I am to be risking our people's lives for this..."

Nyx closed her eyes and breathed a sigh of relief. She smiled, this time not just a ghost of her old happiness, but the real smile that the Cheiftain used to complement her on. "Thank you, Cheiftain, and I promise you that you will not regret this," she said, bowing again to show her appreciation.

The Cheiftain smiled, though he still looked tired. "It has been a long time since I've seen that look on your face, Nyx. I've missed you, as have the rest of the Stari. Maybe after this is all said and done, you will return to us... Don't worry about considering that now though, I'm sure you have other work to do. Go on, and I will see you on the battlefield."

Her deep green eyes shining in delight, Nyx turned and left the hut. She began walking towards the Whitewood, knowing that she would have a bit more difficult of a time convincing them to join the war. She took a steadying breath as she left Rayhaven, which she didn't realize she missed so dearly until that very moment.

    *Nyx moves to Whitewood*
