*Rhykim and Amaya arrive from 'The Negotiations'."

Rhykim had spent the time returning to Logata Castle to relish in his discomfort and disgust with the Stari Council. When he returned, he had his customary de-brief with his Advisers. When the meetings were over, he retired to his room. He had removed his plated armor. He thought more on what the Stari Council said and what Ranger had said to sway. He had done everything to keep the peace, but he feared that after the Gerudos' rejection for peace, Logata may very well rip itself apart. On his mind now was his determination to make sure that Narus and his followers' heads were impaled on stakes and lined the Logatan streets.

Amaya frowned around her as she noticed that several of the Logatan guards were missing. Since Rhykim hadn't seemed to noticed, she hailed a passing guard. "Where's my sister, General Nyx?"
The soldier saluted her. "General Nyx received word from a Falconmill civilian that Narus' group had crossed the Logata River, heading towards Bybourne forest. She took some of the Force to intercept him."
Amaya thanked him and turned to the Imperator with a grin. "Already caught scent of the prey, my sister. Shall we see if she catches it, or go help track it down?"

"What do you think would be the better course of action? You both Narus well enough to get inside his head. Will she need the assistance?"

She shrugged. "It's not much whether we know Narus or not. I know my sister. She's served you well enough that you should know too. She won't lose. I simply wanted to know if you wanted to see the fall of Narus yourself or wait for her to bring word." She stretched. "I think I'll take a bath. I need to wash the distaste from my skin."

"I can wait. Last thing we need is the Stari thinking I killed him myself when I was only there to observe." Rhykim followed Amaya to her quarters lost in thought of how twisted his plans for Logata had become and started to doubt if going to the mainland so soon was a good idea.

Amaya was shrugged as she opened her door. Hedya had apparently kept it aired and clean while they'd be gone, for the sheets had been changed and there were fresh flowers on the desk. Amaya smiled at their cheery color before heading to the adjacent bathing room. It was a quick matter to fill the tub with water, although it was cool, not warm. She had never had a warm bath before leaving the forest, and had found it very pleasant. Still, she enjoyed a cool one just as much. "It wouldn't matter. They've declared him outcast of the Stari until this war of yours is over. They won't care who wins or loses, as long as the Stari are left alone and are able to live in peace." She pulled her braid out before stripping and entering the tub. "It'd be good for you to wait, though. Narus is powerful, and I'd rather you not risk your life just to settle a dispute." She frowned slightly, feeling as if something was missing, lost to her, but she couldn't put her finger on what it was. After a moment, she shrugged, deciding it was just the absence of Nyx. Eventually the feeling would go away, although she hoped her twin would return soon.

"My quarrel was with the late King. I have every desire for peace on Logata. When we leave for the mainland, I plan to be diplomatic, at first. We'll explore area, learn of the way of life and any resources we can exploit, and hopefully, when we get to see the bigger picture, we can unite Logata as one instead of these petty disputes that I have started. Am I wrong to be the sole leader or should I push for a more equal government?" Rhykim noticed Amaya frown for an odd reason and he sensed something as well, unsure of what to make of it. Since his brainwashing by Nexus, he felt like he had supernatural powers that remained, empathy for things around him, heightened senses, small but noticeable differences. To some extent, his desire for peace has intensified and his blind rage has subdued considerably.

"You shouldn't be the one to go," Amaya mused. "It'd be smart if you sent an emissary, so you don't have to leave Logata to a regent. Who knows what kind of mess you'd find when you return. Just don't send me. You know just how violent I can be when antagonized. Nyx would be a better one to send."

There was a quick rapping on the door, the only warning before Hedya entered. Amaya peered out of her bath at the Gerudo, then leaped out of the tub as she saw the Gerudo stagger in with Luna in her arms. The cheetah was battered and bloody, patches of her fur singed black. "I'm sorry for the intrusion, mistress, but-"
"Put her on the bed," Amaya interrupted, taking some of the weight from her servant. The pair laid the cheetah on the bed, then Amaya started to wipe away some of the blood and dirt. "Luna? Are you okay?"
The cheetah looked up at her with bleary eyes, clearly weak and tired. "Nyx is dead."
                "What!? What happened?"
"Stari are the best fighters in Logata," Luna breathed. "Even three score could beat three hundred with ease. Narus summoned a storm to increase his strength, and blasted most of the troops away."
"What about Nyx?" Amaya asked, trying hard to contain herself.
Luna groaned and shifted. Solar leaped onto the bed and started gently grooming her, concern emanating from him. She gave him a grateful look, then took a breathe and said, "Ranger challenged Nyx to single combat. They fought with deadly skill, each blow shifting the balance of victor. It was impossible to tell who would win. Then he shot her with an arrow. She attempted to blast it aside, as she had so many other, but he was forcing it further with his own power. It was a different arrow than the others, transferring her blast through the shaft and into herself. She was unprepared, couldn't stop the lightning, and it killed her." She shivered, remembering, then went limp, finally allowing herself sleep.
Amaya stood, rage and grief rolling off her in waves. She shed the remnants of her bath water and pulled on clothes. "Hedya, take care of her. I'm going to retrieve my sister." She yanked on clothes and stormed out of the room.

"Amaya." Rhykim grabbed the Stari's arm to stop her. "What's happened? Don't ignore me, Amaya."
"Nyx is dead," she snarled. "The fields will feast on the blood of Narus and his allies."
                  Amaya-"
"But first, I must take her body," Amaya continued, as if Rhykim hadn't spoken. "My sister deserves to be burned as is proper for a Stari. Then I will mourn her proper."
Rhykim touched her shoulder gently. "I will go with you-"
"No," she interrupted. "You need to remain here, to plan the counterattack. I can steal through the battle field alone, and find my sister's body with no fear of being stopped or attacked. You are more noticeable, more likely to be recognized. Mourn as you please, but I will tend my sister's body alone." She shook off his arm and stormed out.
Solar perked his head up, watching Rhykim as the Imperator shook his head and moved back to the bed. He began rubbed Solar's chin and patted Luna's side, hoping that his general wouldn't be stupid, but trusting her to be careful and not being foolish as she carried out her tradition.
