Rhykim didn't pay much attention to the children's discussion. He felt, as a "terrible and cruel dictator" he shouldn't show worry or compassion. He had the voice in the back of his head convincing him to not care about Alwin and that he was a liability. He turned to watch the battle ensue between Xeonph and his attacker until his attention is needed elsewhere.sigpic

After Rhykim left her, Nyx made her way to the infirmary to find her sister. "Amaya, you are not going to believe this," Nyx said as she walked up to Amaya. There was a definite edge to her voice that Nyx did not bother trying to conceal.Comment

Amaya glanced up from the man whom she had just spoke with, scowling. He had also refused her mercy, determined to fight for life, even though she could see he was as good as dead. "What is it, sister?" she asked, not missing the edge. "Has something happened to Master Rhykim?" Solar pressed to her side and she shook her head. Nyx sighed before recounting the details of what happened to Amaya. "Well, Master Rhykim felt a source of power coming from near the dungeon, so we went to investigate. We found a secret passageway that led to this pool of black water. Rhykim was levitated above it and the thing hurt him... Apparently the pain was due to it bestowing some immense power... Well, anyway, afterward, the slime, which called itself a 'nexus,' declared itself Rhykim's master and commanded him to take over some continent that neither I nor Rhykim have ever heard of!" As Nyx spoke, her she found herself growing more and more angry at the so-called "nexus" that she would now be serving, since she served Rhykim and he served the nexus. "So, if Master Rhykim now has a master, guess who we are now following, even though it was not our choice?" Nyx said, the edge to her voice returning.Comment

"Blast it all!" Amaya swore. "I serve Master Rhykim because of the kindnesses he showed us when we first left our forest, but this nexus? I will not!" She took a deep breathe to calm her rage, then said, "What do you want to do? Shall we try to remove this nexus being? Or just leave? I am certain that we can find others accepting of us and our habits." She grinned. Amaya bowed her head. "Perhaps. Do you want to consult with the elders, since they are here? Or do you want to just leave now?" She patted Solar's head as the cheetah shivered and pressed against her side. "I know, Solar. But it will not be the first time we will leave all we've known. "I think we should consult the Elders..." Nyx said. She saw Luna trotting up to her, unscathed from the battle, which pleased Nyx. She quickly filled Luna in on the events surrounding the nexus. After hanging her head and remaining silent for a few moments, she agreed that seeking out the Elders would be the best course of action.Comment

"Very well," Amaya said. She led the way out of the infirmary, shooting a few glares at a couple of the attendants, warning them not to speak of what they heard. Out in the open, though, she paused and looked around. "Do you know where they are? The Great Hall, or the throne room perhaps?"

"If I had to guess, they are probably in the Great Hall," Nyx said, already walking in that direction. Luna padded along behind her. Nyx and Luna couldn't believe it was coming to this. In all the years they had served Rhykim, they never imagined he would give in to someone else, or, in this case, something else, that easily.Comment

Xeonph brought down his blade, clashing with Laora's again. Laora quickly pulled back and stabbed. Xeonph side-stepped but still felt the edge cut the side of his stomach. He grunted and brought his sword up in an uppercut, then quickly followed through with a jab from his knife. Loura backstepped and avoided both. He then ran towards Xeonph, left unguarded by the failed attack, and flipped over him. When he landed, he was about to bring his sword down on one of Xeonph's wings, but Xeonph rolled forwards and turned around. He saw Rhykim standing there, watching, almost seeming to enjoy it.
Once again, that's what power will do to you.
He brought his sword up and they once again locked, pushing towards each other. Xeonph looked at Loura. "Rhykim is the rightful ruler! That worthless Shak is better dead!" Loura pushed Xeonph backwards. He was stronger. "Shak was a fine king. Rhykim isn't deserving of such a position!" They ran towards each other once more.So I'm back, or at least I will be eventually. Trying to reintegrate myself.

Rhykim continued to watch. His mind was still in a jumble of what happened in the dungeons. He finally came to, and stepped in between the two. "Look, I don't know why you two are fighting, but don't you think there's been enough bloodshed today?" He said, rather concerned for both of them, as well as the potential civilian casualties.sigpic

Xeonph backed away from Rhykim. He was breathing heavily after that fight. "That worthless bag of..." he couldn't think of a word that would do Laora's state justice, "Of... flesh think's he's better than me. Always out to prove he's the best! Thinks he was in the army and now he's all that!" Laora couldn't help but laugh. "Well Xeonph, I can see your... emperor," he said it in a tone that pretty much conveyed he thought that wasn't a word to describe Rhykim, "Obviously doesn't like this. Oh well. Some other time, but I must say, you seem awfully eager to die." He turned and ran, sheathing his sword, grabbing his shield and flying off. Xeonph, still holding his sword, shouted at him. "Coward! You're just scared to fight me!" His breathing returned to normal, and he sheathed his weapons.So I'm back, or at least I will be eventually. Trying to reintegrate myself.
