"I'd kick that Din-cursed puddle into the sea," Amaya muttered darkly. Louder, she said, "I try, my Lord, but the reason I followed you was because of the way you treated me and my twin. You respected us when others insulted and looked down on us. I won't answer to something that I do not know. I feel that if you have to listen to the puddle of dog drool, it should be as you would listen to an ill-trusted adviser, not an all-knowing oracle." She curled her lip in disgust.

Amaya squeezed her eyes closed and took a few deep breathes. She still wasn't sure how she felt about Rhykim's love for her. Finally, she opened her eyes and looked at him. "I will stay, Master Rhykim," she said, reverting back to her usual method of addressing him, "but we must do something about that puddle. You promised me." Xeonph rose. Laora was just another body. He'd been wanting him dead for a while... and he had no regrets about killing him. He turned around, and almost tripped over Laora's shield. He eyed it. It was a good shield, not too heavy, offered protection, and was perfectly usable. Without a second thought, he picked it up and put it on his back.
(Can I do that? If not, just tell me.)So I'm back, or at least I will be eventually. Trying to reintegrate myself.

"If it makes you happy, then let's go confront the Nexus," Rhykim said standing up. He left his helmet on the table and began showing Amaya the way to the Nexus. He still felt apprehensive about this, but he loved Amaya and that love is why he was doing it.sigpic

Amaya grinned and followed behind Rhykim, much like a puppy after its master. Of course, Amaya was no puppy. She was extremely confident that with her water-bending ability and her force of will, the Nexus would let Rhykim go. She would wait to step in, though, until after Rhykim had asked to be released. Then, and she grinned ferally at this thought, she would force the puddle to release her master. Even if it meant scattering it to the four corners of the earth. The pair reached the dungeons and the empty cell where he secret door resided. Rhykim activated the switch and the lights lit up as they descended the stairs, like the first trip down. Rhykim felt anxiety and some pain as he continued to draw closer to the Nexus.sigpic

Amaya had to hand it to Nexus, it's hide-out was impressive. Hidden in the dungeon, behind a wall, very impressive. And torches that light themselves? Dramatic. The long staircase annoyed her, but she never really liked stairs, especially climbing down them. She had no issues going up, but going down always made her feel like she was going to fall.
The black puddle itself, however, was another matter. Amaya stared at it for a long moment, then burst out laughing. "This?" she asked of her master. "This is the thing that controls you, that orders you to do what you wish not? This thing can't move on its own. It's as powerless as a newborn cub." She spat at good wad of saliva at the thing. "I could easily scatter it to the four corners of Logata, and still be strong enough to fight an army alone." She grinned ferally and stepped closer to the puddle. "You hear me, puddle? Let my master go, or I will separate you, droplet by droplet, and feed you to the trees of Bybourne forest and the beasts of Logata Cayon. I'll make the desert rain with your droplets and cool the lava of Smokehead Mountain. Release my master, or such is the fate you will suffer!" Xeonph was still sitting on a rock. He remembered Rhykim had told him something about some sort of intelligence mission, but he had disappeared. He wanted some thrills. He figured he may as well get a good view. He launched himself into the air, gliding around. There were few feelings great as this. He remembered flying away from his home, and a pang of sadness struck him, but he forced it out of his mind. There was no place for that now. They had taken Logata, and he had to be diligent. But the sadness still gnawed at him from the back of his mind. He flew for a few minutes, then took a perch on the highest tower. He had to admit, this sprawling view of the land was really something. He sat, looking at nothing in particular, still trying to force the sadness from his mind.So I'm back, or at least I will be eventually. Trying to reintegrate myself.

Xeonph sat, his head in his hands. He was strangely fighting back tears. He realized that he had pretty much killed the only family he still had. His parents, as far as he knew, still lived in the Draco homeland. He couldn't go back there now. Ever since he'd voiced his opinion, he wouldn't be welcomed. He'd allied himself with Rhykim. Word of that must've traveled by now. He couldn't go back to see them. He was alone now... he had no one. He guessed a desperate person would say that Rhykim's army was his family now, but he doubted that. He sat there, mulling over what he was thinking, constantly trying to convince himself that he wasn't alone, but no matter how hard he tried he couldn't.So I'm back, or at least I will be eventually.
