  • How to End a Rebellion Before it Even Starts

Rhykim entered his room and lit the candle on the desk. He unsuited his armor to reveal his body. Most people would be surprised to see he's not as muscular as his armor leads them to believe. He started writing in his journal. When he finished, he was finally tired enough to sleep where he blew out the candle and went to bed.

Amaya looked around and found herself back in the Nexus' dungeon. She could easily see the black puddle, its surface glittering in the torchlight. She grinned at it. "Maybe I'll destroy you after all." She started to use her gift to try pulling it apart.
But it wouldn't move. Nexus' laughter rang around her. You think I would reveal myself to you and not take precautions? You cannot touch me here.
    "Din-scorned puddle," Amaya muttered.
Regardless what you think of me, Celeste, you serve me now.
"Never," Amaya hissed. "I command water. I will not be commanded by a puddle!"
While your determination is admirable, it is also futile. When I call, you shall obey.
"I will destroy you before I obey you!" Amaya shrieked. "I will disperse you across the continent and scatter you in the sea! When I get my hands on you, your life will be end, like that!" She snapped her fingers to demonstrate.
As it had earlier, the finger snap was quickly followed lightning. Amaya screamed as the electric current ran through her.

-and woke on her bed, thrashing around. Her blankets were tangled around her legs, her pillows on the floor. Amaya sat up, panting and coated with sweat. Solar lay watching her from the door. He raised his head and looked at her closely. Are you alright?
"Yeah," she replied, rubbing her forehead. "Just a bad dream." She kicked the blankets off and crossed to the window. It was still dark out, but the cool night air helped calm her. Just a bad dream, she told herself. I really shouldn't tell Solar that sort of thing before going to sleep. Paranoid cheetah. Eventually, she relaxed enough to go back to sleep, but it was a restless sleep.

ENdin shook his head. "I'm short on experience in disposing of bodies." He relaxed his knife hand and sat down next to Xenoph, pulling out a whetstone and drawing the blade along it.
"I'm Endin Alceaus, commander to Rhykim. You?"
The repetitive motions of the sharpening was relaxing, and he felt like he'd need to be plenty relaxed for the journey to come.

Xeonph shrugged. "I think I'm his assassin. I'm not sure... haven't been for a while. I don't remember the last time I actually did an 'assassination', per say. I mostly fight." He examined Laora's shield. It had an interesting design, and it seemed well made. He saw the strap he had cut last time, and it was repaired well. He doubted Laora had done that on his own.
So I'm back, or at least I will be eventually. Trying to reintegrate myself.

Endin looked at the shield. Xeonph knew what to loot, at the very least. "I do whatever he needs, I guess. I just joined a few days ago, during the battle. Pretty soon me and one of his commanders are going on a diplomacy mission, quelling rebellion." He sheathed his knife and another one floated out of his boot and started sharpening itself while his fingers nervously tapped on the rock.

Ranger looked around confused. "When did it get so dark?" he asked Dara quietly. The cheetah was standing next to him waiting for him to move. "While you were taking your nap," he growled, clearly annoyed. Ranger smiled apologetically. It was true. After Nyx and the others had left for Rhykim, he had wandered around not sure what to do. After an hour or so, he decided he might as well regain his strength from the battle and had gone to sleep. Now he was looking for Nyx, meaning to ask her what had happened.
It wasn't long before he saw her. Now that it was dark there weren't that many people left walking around in the castle. "Nyx!" he called out as he approached her, with a smile on his face. "What has happened?" he asked. It had been long since she'd gone to meet with Rhykim.

"Looks like I'm going to confront the Gorons. They are part of a rebellion that's building... Would you and some of your men mind coming with me?" Nyx asked. She was very happy to see him. He made her get butterflies, which was something someone as serious as her never really felt before.

"Mind?" Ranger repeated, "Not at all. It'll be a pleasure to aid you in your duty, general Nyx." He winked and smiled. "I'll have the men ready at the entrance in ten minutes. I'll meet you there." Before leaving he quickly pecked her cheek and then turned and hurried away, Dara next to him. The cheetah rolled his eyes. "What?" Ranger asked, "I like her."
As he entered the Stari quarters he woke everyone with a commanding voice, "Hurry now, we have orders. Gather your equipment, and meet me at the entrance in seven minutes. Make sure you bring proper armor." He was about to leave when he noticed how slow everyone was moving. "Now!" he added and left to meet with Nyx.

Nyx smiled and even blushed a little when Ranger kissed her. Looking down at Luna, she said, "He's really a great guy, isn't he?" Luna purred in response. Nyx pulled her plate armor out of the pack she had brought with her. Might as well put this on and look like the General I'm supposed to be, she thought. It had been made for her when she rose to her position of General. It fit extraordinarily well. It was silver with gold accents and was as light as it was sturdy, allowing her to still move quickly and relatively quietly, at least compared to other heavy armors.

As Ranger walked he put on the robes he wore when going on missions. They were green like the forest, with a hood that hid his eyes and made him partially unrecognizable. It reached down to above his knees. As he put it on he slid his belts and scabbards off and then on again on the cloak. He also put his bow and quiver filled with arrows on it instead of under it. This way he was protected from the cold, hidden from view, and could also reach all his weapons easily.
He reached the entrance and waited for the other Stari. As they arrived, he saw they were dressed similarly. It was a typical Stari outfit when going on missions. Now they only needed to wait for Nyx.

Nyx approached the Stari that were waiting for her. Taking her place at the front beside Ranger, she proclaimed, "The Gorons have a new, very dangerous weapon. You will need to wear sturdy armor... I'm sure there is plenty available for all of you in the Castle. I'm sorry I did not have the foresight to inform you sooner."

Ranger looked at Nyx as she spoke. One of the Stari spoke up, "We're already wearing all the armor we need. We are trained to remain hidden, anything heavier and that purpose will be defeated." Ranger looked at Nyx. "It's true. The armor we are wearing is strong enough, and if it isn't, then we will keep away from said weapon's range," he smiled, "don't worry. I think we're good to go." Dara growled his approval.

"Alright," she ceded. Nyx new that she should probably keep hers on though, since she would be doing the talking. Hard to stay hidden when you are speaking to the enemy. "Let's set out then," she said, smiling at Ranger.
