    "Oh, and Roland?"
    "Yeah?"
"Please, look for Ral. He's out there somewhere, and he gets hurt I'll never-"
"I know, Anju. I'll find him."
Roland closed the door behind him, and sighed. He looked towards the wall, making sure there that none of Maxwell's guards were present, and began to move towards West Clock Town via South Clock Town. He made sure to take in all the sights, sounds, and smells, because he knew he might not come back here for a while. Little did he know, some of the citizens looked at him in digust, knowing he was Gerudo. But even if he did know, he wouldn't be too bothered by it, since he had grown used to it in his two years in Clock Town.

    ---------------------------------------------------------

"Man, if only I had that one mask!" Jacob said, mainly talking to himself. "Then we could REALLY be playing 'Follow the Leader'!"
Drake chuckled, Jacob's attitude making him remember the light-hearted moments of his childhood. Part of him wanted to return to that old family farm, but most of him preferred not to live in complete isolation surrounded by bad memories.
"So, you're sure we shouldn't have to pay?" Drake asked Jacob as the kid led them towards East Clock Town.
"Uh-huh! You won't pay nothing! I've brought a friend to Anju before, and he didn't have to pay! Though, I'm bringing two friends this time, so maybe-"
Jacob stopped immediately, and his jaw dropped. Drake bumped into Jacob accidentally, not prepared for the sudden stop. Luckily, it was a little bump, so Drake hadn't pushed the kid onto the ground.
"Jacob?" Drake asked him, moving in front of kid.
    "Roland...."
Drake turned around, and was shocked by what he saw. A Gerudo?

    ----------------------------------
The silence between the three boys continued for a few seconds, until Roland broke it. He stepped forward, and went down on one knee.

"Jacob, is that you?" Roland said, his voice quavering. Jacob moved Drake out of his way, and hugged Roland. Roland hugged back, and stood up. Both of the boys cried tears of joy, happy to see their friend again. Roland set Jacob down, and stayed on one knee so he could look him in the eye.

As Roland and Jacob talked, Drake looked at Roland quizzically, trying to figure him out. How did Jacob know a Gerudo? When did they meet? HOW did they meet?

Drake looked towards Malina for assistance.

"Umm...I don't know what to do."

Malina smiled at the emotional reunion. Tears pricked her own eyes and she wondered if when she met her father again, it would be similar. She hoped it would be, but feared that it would not. She looked over at Drake at his words, then back at the boys. Truth be told, she wasn't too sure what to do either, but she supposed she could try saying something. "Whose this, Jacob?" she asked, still smiling. "An old friend?" A stupid question, with a rather obvious answer, but it would remind the boy that there were others here. Hopefully. She fidgeted a bit, now feeling incredibly awkward.

Jacob and Roland ended their embrace, and both of them turned to face Malina and Drake.
"Yup yup!" Jacob replied, in a better mood than before. "His name's Roland! Roland, these are my new friends Malina and Drake!
As Jacob introduced him, Roland examined the two people who accompanied his friend. The girl, aside from being pretty, was likely some sort of runaway noble judging by the way she carried himself.
      Not too different from myself.
The boy, on the other hand, was likely some commoner, like a farm boy. If he was in a relationship with the girl, then it would explain why she wasn't in some castle right now. Roland decided if they were with Jacob, they could probably be trusted. Jacob was a child, but he knew how things worked. Roland knew he wouldn't stay with bad people for more than a second.
"Pleasure to meet you, Malina and Drake." Roland said, making sure to smile and make eye contact with both of them. "You two don't look like you're from Termina, so you must be travelers...I'm guessing Labrynnan."
Drake was surprised at Roland's accuracy. "How could you tell?"
"Lucky guess." Roland quickly added after a moment of hesitation. They would know that Termina didn't get many tourists from Labrynna, and he wasn't about to tell them he had been taught to pick foreigners out as a child.
Roland's hesitation made Drake suspicious. It was clear that Roland was hiding something from them. But yet, he seemed pretty close to Jacob. He can't be that bad, can he?

"So, how come you're here, and not home?" Roland asked, wanting to change the subject. "Carnival of Time isn't for a while."

Malina curtsied as Jacob introduced her and Drake, and was a little surprised when Roland guessed them to be from Labrynna. She had thought Termina didn't receive many visitors from the other countries, certainly not enough to guess them to be Labrynnans. She frowned thoughtfully to herself, wondering how they were different from Terminians, especially when she'd bought new clothes that better matched the country. Certainly the dark outline of the clock on her cloak would make it a bit harder to guess she was foreign. Then she shrugged. Maybe it was simply a different accent, one this boy had heard before and remembered.
"Just wanted to travel," she said in answer to his question. "My friend and I were feeling bored with Labrynna's landscape and decided to see new ones. We're trying to explore each country before the year's end." She wondered what this Carnival of Time was that he mentioned. She recognized it, but she couldn't quite place it, although she thought it was possibly their celebration for the new year.

Roland nodded, not sure if he believed Malina. Termina barely got any visitors outside of people that came from the Carnival of Time, and it seemed weird to him that they would just want to travel. This made Roland even more certain that these foreigner friends of Jacob were in a relationship. A princess in love with a commoner was shameful, so they had run away to avoid persecution. Of course, they had come to Termina, which was essentially the land of the outcasts.

Speaking of the guy looked a little suspicious of him. He must have noticed my hesitation earlier. Roland made a mental note to himself to keep the guy from pushing for more information, as that'd likely put Jacob in an uncomfortable position trying to justify why they were friends. This 'Drake' didn't seem too bright anyway, so it wouldn't be difficult.

"Hmm...interesting. But what are you doing with Jacob?"

Roland gave himself a mental pat on the back. Now he was putting the pressure on them, and hopefully they wouldn't be so skeptical as to ask how HE knew Jacob or why he was asking that question. Roland noticed that Drake was caught off guard by the question, so it was likely he would answer.

          =======================

Drake thought about Malina's answer to Roland's question. Traveling to each country before year's end? That sounded a little sketchy, and it made Drake wonder if Roland would pick up on it.

Drake caught himself looking at Malina in the midst of these thoughts. She looked really pretty in those clothes...was it even her clothes? Maybe she was just pretty by herself. Drake thought about telling her, but didn't want to seem weird. Not to mention they were in the middle of another conversation.

Drake was surprised by Roland's question. Drake thought they were the ones asking the questions, but Roland was acting as if that wasn't the case. Drake wondered why that was, but didn't bother to go in depth because he felt required to answer Roland's question.

"Oh, uh, we just found him outside in Termina Field, alone." Drake replied, maintaining eye contact with Roland. "We asked him about his parents, and, well, you know the situation with his parents, so he asked to travel with us. We couldn't just leave him out there, so he's been with us pretty much the whole day. But, I guess now that you're here, we'll have to part ways."

          =======================

Jacob didn't give a second thought to what was happening. All he observed was that his friends were having a conversation. They were acting a little weird.

Jacob turned to face Drake with a hurt expression. Part ways? Jacob began to tear up. Was Roland talking him back to Anju's? Why did Drake want to part ways? Malina wouldn't want to leave him, would she?

"P-part ways?" Jacob asked, tearing up while looking at Drake. "B-but...I don't wanna part ways!"

(OoC: This post has been made with the approval of both Z and HBC.)

            One reunion later...
The group stood outside the entrance to the Stock Pot Inn, none of them sure of what they were waiting for. Roland sighed, and looked at the three people had been with for the last few minutes.

"Well, I should get going now." Roland said, the reluctance clear in his voice. He got down on one knee and hugged Jacob, knowing that it might be a while before they saw each other again. "Take care of yourself, buddy."

Jacob hugged Roland back, holding back tears."I...I will."

While still experimenting with his power in Falconmill, Nemesis once again gazed upon the land to see where else he might have some fun. He looked around, trying to who would be the most fun to mess with, when he noticed a particular group in Clock Town. He grinned, and went to analyze the situation.

When he arrived, Nemesis found he was dealing with individuals who had great destinies ahead of them. Malina Cyne, future ruler of Labrynna, who had a fraction of the power she would come to hold when she claimed her birthright years from now, when she was no longer a girl running away but a woman who feared nothing. Drake Lomeli, whose peaceful nature would transform into one of the greatest arbiters in Labrynnan history. Roland, the Pirate King, who would remake the image of the Gerudo pirates. The manipulation of these three individuals was almost crucial to the long-term success of Nemesis's plans.

The one wild card was the boy, Jacob Kal. For whatever reason, Nemesis could not interpret his future, as he did with the others. Perhaps it was the fact that he was almost thirteen years of age and his past was incredibly turbulent, or maybe the goddesses were protecting him. Either way, Nemesis was convinced that Jacob showed much promise.

While Nemesis did sense emotions that would be easy to take advantage of in everybody, he decided to wait. Unlike the group in Falconmill, Nemesis was willing to take his time with these new toys. As Roland left, Nemesis followed him intently, but also remained with the three standing in front of Stock Pot Inn.

*Roland goes to Lying in Wait*

After Roland left, Jacob turned to face Malina and Drake. "Well, you guys wanna go inside?"

Anju had begun to doze off when she heard the front door open. She rushed over to the counter and saw that three guests had come in. In front of them was a boy of about twelve years old, who Anju swore she knew. She looked straight into his eyes, trying to remember, and then realized who it was.

"JACOB JAMESON KAL!" Anju exclaimed loudly, moving angrily from behind the counter to in front of the boy. "Where have you been for the past....ohhh, I don't even know how long!? I've been worried SICK about you! You said you would be back in five weeks, and now you show up Nayru knows how long later with two strangers?!? Explain yourself, young man!"

Jacob had taken a few steps back, and was cowering in fear when he realized she stopped shouting. Cautiously, he stood straight and looked down at the ground, obviously embarrassed.

            "S-Sorry, Anju, I just..."

Seeing how bad she made Jacob feel made Anju calm down. She looked at his new friends, analyzing them in an attempt to see if she could determine whether or not they were good people. Suddenly, she had remembered when Jacob had first brought Roland into the inn. Anju recalled being scared out of her mind that the pirates would come to hurt her family, and being reassured by Roland that they wouldn't. Anju decided to trust these strangers, for now.

"I'm sorry Jacob, I didn't mean to get so upset." Anju said, pulling the boy to her and hugging him. "But you were gone for so long, and...I was just worried."

She looked back up at the strangers and made eye contact with the girl. "And who would you two happen to be?" Anju asked, trying to maintain a pleasant tone more for Jacob's sake than their's. "I'm Anju, keeper of the Stock Pot Inn."

Malina couldn’t help a sad smile at the parting of the two boys. They were clearly close nearly like brothers. She’d never had a sibling, but she’d always wanted one. It would have made life quite a bit different growing up. Then again, she might have still ended up fleeing Labrynna, only her father would still have an heir rather than needing to find his daughter to secure his lineage on the throne.

She waved farewell to Roland as the pirate left, then followed James and Drake into the inn. The woman behind the counter looked up with a smile, then noticed their smaller companion. She said his name in a way that made Malina cringe, remembering the times her mother had yelled at her for worrying her, the few times the sickly woman was well enough to do so. Her father usually took that role, but being a daddy’s girl, she found it easy to distract him and they’d start playing.

After Jacob apologized, Anju relaxed and hugged him before smiling at her two other guests and introducing herself. Malina smiled back. “I’m Malina and this is Drake. We’ve been traveling around and ran into Jacob here.”
