Gerrard smiled as he heard her talk, her voice was also cute, and he noticed that she had also blushed. He was thoroughly enjoying this conversation, simply because he was talking, connecting.
"Well," Gerrard said in answer to her question, "I am mostly trying to get away from my past. Trying to get a new life, ya know. And hey, the new life ain't bad so far now that I have met you.
Gerrard said that last statement with a small smile on his face, he hadn't had feelings like this for years and years, and he was enjoying it, even though it was mostly on impulse feelings.

Sephira gritted her teeth and kept walking, trying not to show him that he was right. Midnight and Star would pass eventually, leaving her truly alone. And as long as the nether world continued to spit her out, she wouldn't be able to end her own long journey. Maybe with time she'd find a means to escape it, but until then, she had to continue to struggle on.
She did pause when she heard him comment on swimming. Without turning, she answered slyly, "I don't know about the others, but I planned on flying. Besides, what could you offer us? You clearly are a man without much. You carry yourself like a noble, but your clothes indicate that you live just as much in the outdoors as I."

Jackylin's cheeks got warmer, and her blush deepened. "Well, I'm not sure where we're going from here, but I'm sure James would let you come with us, he's a really nice guy." She adjusted some of the wood she was carrying in her arms. "And, kind of my half brother. Stepbrother? I'm not sure."

Shane raised his hands defensively and chuckled. "Woah there, Sephira, lets take a breath here. Geez, do you always attack people that are trying to help you? Actually, don't answer that," he added chuckling and shaking his head. He walked a bit closer to her, crunching the glass on the sand as he did so. "And what's wrong with living in the great outdoors, anyways? That doesn't have to mean anything. A hermit might be wealthy, a vagabond might be king. Never judge before you have really looked into something. Someone who you were ordered to hate might just end up being a nice person you're hurting, with time. We never know. What I do know, however, is that I have transportation under my name. Transportation your friends, seeing as you were ready to fly off without them, might make good use of."

Sephira turned, eyes narrowed. She wondered if the barb had been planned, or if it had been a coincidence that he spoke of Maxwell. However, she didn't believe so much in coincidences. Somehow he knew so much about her, without even trying. It reminded her of the few telepathic Stari that had lived in the tribe, although there were so few that she often forgot them. Did he have that kind of ability? Or did he have some other means to see her so clearly. "Either way, it wouldn't be up to me. They might consider me the leader, but I don't make all the decisions." Then she turned and continued down the beach, heading back to the group. This man was reminding her why she disliked being alone. Usually the annoying voice was in her head, though, her father's ghost reminding her to carry on the Stari legacy. Not this man who simply wouldn't shut up.

You guys are brothers? Gerrard inquired, I never would have guessed it, but hey, glad y'all met. With that Gerrard wrapped his left arm around her shoulder. So, he continued are you happy to be leaving? Excited?

Shane now smiled giddily and looked at his feet as he walked back to the camp with her. He remained further away enough that he was in no risk of being physically attacked by her, but close enough to sense her distaste for him. It didn't matter to him that she wasn't pleased with him. It was all meant to be, in the end, regardless of what friends he did or didn't make. "So you're a leader who listens to the people that follow you? I couldn't be prouder," he started as he walked. "No wonder they are so loyal to you." The Sun was now out of view, and only the reddish tint on the horizon remained. However, the stars were flickering to life in the sky and their light was enough to guide them back to the camp.

"Mmmhmm," Jackylin confirmed, noting the sudden arm around her. It was almost as if Gerrard really was running from his past; had nothing to live for, was taking risks. Really going for it all. It was intriguing, but she left it to the back of her mind and smiled up at Gerrard. "I'm excited to see more aside from Hyrule, I didn't see much of Termina, but I'm also uh, broke. I spent my last ruppees getting out of Hyrule, and then the rebellion was in full swing, and I'm just really glad to be out of that country. Both of them, that is."

Gerrard looked at her smile and smiled back at her, he was really liking her company.
Yeah I am also looking forward to an adventure, I traveled much as a younger man but I never really went out of Hyrule. Who knows where we are going, but there are sure to be adventures there if I have anything to say from my experiences with James and Sephira. And hopefully the new country will be a little calmer, although for some reason I doubt that.
Gerrard looked up and saw that they were at the camp, and decided he might as well help with the fire.
Do you mind if I go ahead and help you with this? Making a fire can be a little difficult and I really have little else to do.

Elwood, who had been curiously listening to the conversation between the two grownups while they walked, all the time holding on to Midnight in case he collapsed, now jumped up between Gerrard and Jacky and yelled up in excitement. "I wanna help too! I love fires! You can make them different shapes and colors, all nice and pretty." Then he frowned. "Ooh, but don't make it too big, cause then it spreads and burns the forest." He shivered, "Trust me, I know." As he ran around them, wanting to know how he could help, he jumped up at Gerrard. "So hey, Mister, since you're being so nice with Jacky, does that mean that you like her? You know like," he continued, "really like her? And if you do, I mean not to pry, but aren't you afraid you will hurt her? I mean you said you hurt a lot of people and all." He turned to Jacky and got close, or as close as his height allowed, to her ear before whispering, "Don't worry, he's not actually that bad once you get to know him."

Gerrard was waiting for Jackylin's answer when Elwood jumped up. Gerrard couldn't help but grin at his enthusiasm but his face quickly turned to horror when he heard what Elwood was saying.
Gerrard needed to tread carefully here, he didn't want to lose a new friend just as he had gotten her.
Part of me leaving is to not hurt people he carefully explained I am trying to not hurt people anymore and change, and moving is a way of doing that. The past is the past, and I won't repeat my mistakes. As Gerrard said this he glanced over to Jackylin, knowing that she would understand even if Elwood didn't.

Jackylin smiled at Gerrard, a knowing smile, one of understanding. Then, she looked down at Elwood, and smiled at him, a motherly, equally understanding smile. One of knowing. "Nobody can be terrible once you get to know them," she assured him. "And of course you can help with the fire," she knelt in the sand, close enough to the water so that it wouldn't spread to the forest as Elwood feared, but far enough that it wouldn't be washed away by the tide. She dropped her load of sticks to her side, and start digging out a ring in the sand that the fire would be contained in.

Elwood giggled at Jacky's response, but before kneeling down to help her with the fire he turned in a hurry to look at Gerrard. "But when people move again and again and again they're usually scared! You know, like running away from a bat in the forest! And didn't you say you move again and again, Mister? Does, does that mean you're scared? What are you scared of? I mean, a friend in the forest always says big Hylian adults tend to be scared of commitment. What's commitment anyway, Mister? It sounds all important and serious." He turned back to Jacky and began helping with the sand digging, which kept slithering back into the hole making it harder for them.

Gerrard shook his head at the short round of questions that Elwood drilled his way. The kid really wasn't going to give up, was he. But what was he running from? That was a question that Gerrard himself didn't really know.
What am I running from? That's a tough question, one I don't really know myself. But it seems I am running with people more than away from something. These people in this group are really my only friends, and I didn't want to abandon that. I didn't have much of a life back in Hyrule anyway. This is my life now. With that Gerrard laid the small timbers into the middle of the ring, and got a few matches out of his backpack attempting to light it.

Elwood listened in silence for a moment. He understood what Gerrard was saying, and he thought it was something good what he was doing. However, there was one thing that stood out to him from the answer. "Your only friends? That must be tough, Mister! It must be sad to be so old and so lonely. Sort of like from what I've seen Sephira is, you know. She's always going off on her own, I just wish she would play with us more." With that Elwood focused solely on the task at hand. After realizing they weren't actually building a hole he got to work on the wood, but just then the Sun and its light went completely out of sight and he remembered he had been waiting for that to happen before. He felt his legs give way beneath him and collapsed, but Midnight was fast and just in time to catch him on his furry back.
