Gerrard woke suddenly, the sneeze of Elwood plunging him into consciousness. His back was to the sand, warm from his body heat radiating over it throughout the night. Gerrard stood up and stretched mightily, letting loose a loud groan and then looked around. The last night had been dreamless, as Gerrard had fallen asleep to the smoothing sound of the sea. This was also the most rested that Gerrard had felt in many moons, the first time he had really felt positive about his future. He saw Sephira quietly collecting up the camp, brooding in her thoughts, so he went quietly over and helped pick up various things.

Sephira smiled at Elwood as he bounced over to her. "I got plenty of sleep. That's why I'm up already." She tousled his hair. "I'm just working on making something for breakfast. If you like, you can wake the others up. This won't take long at all." She spotted Gerrard moving about and gave him a tentative smile, an apology for her attitude the day before. She then pulled a pot from one of the packs and filled it with water, throwing in the shelled oysters and some vegetables. Heating it was a simple task, all she needed to do was focus on the pot and it would warm. It could be difficult to heat something directly instead of simply using fire, but she was hungry after skipping dinner the night before and not in the mood to wait.

Elwood smiled back at Sephira and decided to get right on the job of waking everyone up. First he considered going over to each of the slumped figures on the ground and gently nudging each of them to call the people back from their dreams. However, when he saw Sephira pulling a pot from a bag, he got a better idea. He quickly drew two more pots from the same bag.

"Wake up, wake up one and all sleepy heads! It's far too late to keep talking with the voices in your head," he exclaimed loudly as he walked in a circle around the camp, banging the two pots against one another to produce a loud and obnoxious sound that echoed around the beach. "Wakey wakey!"
Even James, who was already awake, was startled to a sitting position by the sudden cacophony. Once Elwood finished his lap around the camp and the noise finally subsided, he rubbed at his eyes to get rid of the remnants of his sleep.

Gerrard finished his small task. He then properly stretched his muscles out. The beach had hidden a shell under his back in his sleep, causing him minor back pain, a minor annoyance but nothing more. Gerrard was startled at the banging of the pots and pans, but any annoyance went away when his eyes caught sight that Elwood was doing it. He had always had a soft heart for the kid, it reminded him of his much younger self, back before his life got washed down into Lake Hylia. Gerrard sat down in the sand to think to himself, simple brooding over recent events.

At the obnoxious sound of clanging pots, Inga awoke face down on the log she had been sitting on the night before. She wasn't sure how she had let herself fall asleep like this, and when she got to her feet, Inga felt plenty of soreness all over. Hopefully it would go away by the end of the morning. She planned to get a move on once the others had departed. She walked off her drowsiness, taking in the new sights of the beach. They had arrived too late the day before to see it in daylight. It was a beautiful morning, and the only clouds she saw were far in the distance over the ocean. She passed the Kokiri boy as she walked along the sand, not too fond of the method he used to wake everyone up. Thankfully, he had stopped not long after she was woken. "Thanks, Elwood." Inga continued to walk, reaching Sephira who interestingly seemed to be cooking without flames. She hoped the girl would be in a better mood today. "Good morning Sephira. Anything I can do to help you guys get going?"

Sephira winced as Elwood began banging pots together. She supposed it was the easiest method to wake multiple people, but she didn't like it so much. Midnight and Star liked it less, having sharper hearing, and expressed it with clear glares at the boy while flattening their ears. Still, Sephira wouldn't deny him his fun, and smiled to herself as she focused the stew hotter. She looked up as Inga approached and smiled slightly. "You don't plan on accompanying us?" she asked. "Elwood would be disappointed to hear that." She couldn't admit surprise, though, the Sheikah had only joined them because Kaida and Donovan had, and when the Terminians slipped away, Inga'd only tagged along with Sephira's group for lack of better options. Now that the civil war was over, though, she'd no doubt move on.

James pushed himself off the ground and brushed off the sand that clung onto his clothes. He looked around and saw that they were all awake now, thanks to Elwood's obnoxious methods. He stretched both arms across his chest then slowly made his way over to Sephira and Inga. He could already smell whatever they were cooking, and was surprised to see it was Sephira who was cooking it. "Morning," he muttered, eyeing the stew curiously, "anything I need to do to make myself useful? It smells mighty good already." He tried to act as cheery as he could and not let Sephira's darker mood from the previous day rub off on him.
Elwood, pleased with his work, promptly returned the utensils to the bag. He then noticed Star and Midnight and realized, through their glares, that the loud noise had not been appreciated by them. He hurried to their side and knelt down next to them. "Sorry, guys, I thought it'd be more fast and fun to wake everyone up like that. Not to mention efficient! But, I'm sorry if you didn't like it..." He bit his lower lip and looked down at the ground, ashamed of what he'd done.

Inga shrugged a little when Sephira spoke. She thought it had been a no brainer that she wouldn't be joining them. It didn't matter at all if she left, because the only person who might care about her absence would be Elwood. In fact, she would be a little bit surprised if the crew would even trust her enough to let her tag along on the water. "I'll make sure to say bye to Elwood before I head out." She smiled to James as he greeted them by Sephira's stew. "Morning, James."

James heard the last part of Inga's comment and turned to her. "So I take it you're not coming?" he asked, though he was not all that surprised. The girl hadn't been with them for long, and while he'd enjoyed her company back in the rebel camp he couldn't say he knew all that much about her. However, he did hope the Goddesses would keep watching over her wherever she might go, as she seemed like an honorable person overall. "Well, I'm glad you traveled with us, however short your stay may have been." He smiled warmly at her.

Midnight nudged Elwood with his head, whining some. Star rolled her eyes at how easily he forgave. While she wasn't one to hold a grudge, she wasn't going to forgive him quite so quickly.

Sephira smiled at the trio, then began serving the soup. "I'm glad you watched my pack while I was in Clock Town, and thank you for it," she said to Inga, handing her a bowl.. "The goddesses watch over you."

"It was my pleasure," Inga responded, smiling to Sephira and James. "As much as I enjoyed meeting you all, my return to Hyrule is definitely getting overdue." She took the bowl from Sephira and thanked her. "Just try not to miss me too much." she added jokingly.

Gerrard stood on the beach, a new adventure is now laying in front of him, but one person was now leaving their company, back to Hyrule. He can't say he knew Inga well, he really can't say he knew himself that well either, but he had enjoyed her company. " "See you somewhere down the road" , Gerrard said, a grim smile on his face. "Hopefully by that time we are all off much better, and have more rupees than we can count."

With that being said he stood and looked out upon the sea again. The sea mesmerized Gerrard like nothing else had, it also made him dizzy, not a good sign for any sort of trek ahead. The expanse of the water was just so much for someone always confined by land, it appeared to be the end of the world as he knew it. Gerrard knew that it meant the end of his life as he knew it too, no more being known as a killer, no more hearing whispers of himself in every tavern. He was truly free now, truly free, and nothing had ever felt better.

The smile remained on James' lips as Inga took the bowl. "Oh, please, don't worry too much about that," he said in answer to her jest. He then took a deep breath from the moist and salty air. He couldn't say he loved how it clung to his skin, but at least the smell was pleasant enough. "I hope the Goddesses permit us chance another meeting with you, Inga, be it in some other land. You'll always be welcome company by our fire." He noticed Jacky had yet to stand from where she had lain the night before, but a quick glance let him know she had been awakened by Elwood just as much as the rest. It seemed she was enjoying resting on the warm sand with her footwear off, looking out beyond the sea. With that he moved to stand next to Gerrard, looking out at the big blue beyond as well. He could see a look of awe in his eyes. "Is it the first time you've seen the sea?" he asked, his eyes staring straight ahead.

Elwood grinned and rubbed behind Midnight's ears, completely oblivious to Star's unforgiving manner. He proceeded to stand and hurry back to Sephira. While he was not much for eating things that didn't come from the forest, his stomach was already gurgling and clawing for food, and the smell of Sephira's cooking was captivating. "Could I have some, please," he asked, standing on the tips of his toes, trying to see what was within the bowl.

Gerrard slightly nodded at the question from James, his eyes still wandering over the vast ocean, and then spoke. "Yep, first time ever. Never even left Hyrule Field for most of my life, and now I'm here. It's like I'm in a dream. Hell", Gerrard continued, I'm not even in Hyrule anymore. How about you James, have you ever seen the sea? Gerrard had never asked about James' past before, just as James had never asked about his, but it seems that this journey would begin by breaking former barriers.

A slight smile curved the corner of James' lips. He kept looking at the waves crashing on the shore, the foam retreating and coming back around. The soft blue of the water was crystalline, overall calm. He hoped that was a good sign for their trip to come. His voice kept soft as he answered, in tone with the calmness of the morning sea. "Once, a couple years ago. Someone very dear to me took me to one for my fifteenth birthday. I now realize I must have left Hyrule to go there, though I doubt even he knew as much. The water was all but transparent, you could see the shiny pebbles and fish of all colors swimming beneath. And the sand was almost white, warm and soft like a feather bed. But the best part came when night fell, and the sunlight with it. We built a bonfire, not too close to the water for the tide was rising. The logs cackled as we roasted some snacks, telling stories, laughing into the early hours of the next day, and warming ourselves by the flames, and though we could no longer see it in the dark, we could hear the waves breaking on the shore, calmly. Back and forth and back and forth, much how they are now. With the stars and moon above. It is my most cherished memory." He sighed quietly, closed his eyes for a second in remembrance, then turned to look at Gerrard. "But that was what seems ages ago, and much has changed since then. Come, let us eat before heading out on the journey that has been set before us. We still have a long way to go." He put a hand on Gerrard's shoulder, nodded, then turned back to the food and voices of the girls.
