The Clocktown refugees were all in one big mass, confused and lost. Many had been made a widow or an orphan. It had to be the saddest day in Termina history. Everyone believed all was lost.

    Except for Edward Lomeli.

As he made his way through the crowd, he cursed Maxwell in his head. I know you did it, Maxwell. I know you did this. I can't believe you used to be like a brother to me. At least I've come up with a contingency plan.

Edward came out the other side of the crowd and saw a boulder that looked climbable. Perfect.

Zebulon watched Edward climb the rock. Either he's an idiot, or he's thinking the same thing I'm thinking.

"Citizens of Clocktown!" Edward yelled from the boulder, gaining the attention of every person in the crowd. Today, a great tragedy has befallen us. A tyrant, by the name of Maxwell Kal, has killed our friends, neighbors, families, and lovers. In the same day, he has taken away our home, Clocktown. While it may seem all is lost, it is quite the opposite! All of us have managed to escape his oppression, so we can free our fellow citizens trapped inside of Clocktown! I will tell you how we do this!"

First, we pool our resources together! From there, we figure out what we need, and we send our sneakiest people to steal the supplies from Clocktown! Second, all who feel comfortable and capable shall come together and become our small army, which will be our answer to Maxwell's worms who he has put armor on! And finally, we elect representatives who lived in each part of Clocktown, whose powers will include commanding the army and the scavengers, along with any powers they feel necessary.

Now, I realize you may think we will gain control of Clocktown quickly, and we will have no need for all of this. I tell, the self proclaimed king has wealth and power, and knows how to use both, which means we will not regain our home unless the Giants bless us with miracles. I tell you, my friends, we may not take back our home soon, but before I die, I promise you, Maxwell Kal shall be in a coffin!"

When the speech ended, the crowd went crazy. At first, it sounded like chaos, but eventually a chant could be heard. As more people joined the chant, it was clear that they were saying "Death to Kal".

Jacob, who had arrived near the beginning of the speech, felt very uncomfortable as he walked through the crowd. He knew they were talking about his cousin, but it still made it seem like they wanted to kill him. When Jacob got out of the crowd, he saw four people approach him. Those are probably the representatives the guy spoke about in his speech. I guess the people who knew these guys thought of them when they thought of representatives.

Zebulon noticed Jacob a few yards away.

"Great minds think alike, am I right?" Zeb asked, walking over and standing next to Jacob.

Jacob recognized Zeb from earlier. "You again. Anyways, to answer your questions, I think we should wait a little till we put our trust in this guy. I mean, we've read what he wants us to, but is it different from the fine print?"

Zeb shook his head. "I don't think so. I have a knack for identifying shady people, and this guy doesn't fit the description."

Jacob grunted. "If you say so."

Soon, the four people went back to the crowd, and Jacob approached Edward.

"Need something, kid?" Edward asked, trying to guess if Jacob had lost someone in the attack.

"I...I have to tell you something."

"Okay. Just whisper it, if you want.

Jacob checked his surroundings, then made eye contact with Ed.

"I know this might be hard to believe, but...I'm Maxwell's cousin."

A look of disbelief briefly flashed on Ed's face, but then he saw the undeniable family resemblance.

"Okay, listen up if you don't want to get killed. As you know, these people are very mad at Max. If you go around saying that you share the same last name, they will attack you, and if I protect you, they'll think I'm working for him. So just don't say your last name. Say you were a homeless orphan before the attack, and you were never told your last name, and your first name was a name some old man called you. Alright?"

Jacob nodded and walked away. Edward told in front of the boulder for a few more seconds, then walked into the crowd to figure out if the four men who had approached him had been accepted by the people as a representative.

Tenning peered at the group from afar.
People. How long had it been since he'd seen any?
He didnt trust his own memory.
Listening in, he was shocked at what he heard. Slowly, he moved closer.

Zebulon, who was unoccupied, noticed a stranger in the distance. Zeb thought about pulling out his sword just in case the guy was working for Maxwell, but didn't just in case he wasn't working for Maxwell. A threat to some lost soul looking to join might scare them off. "Hey! You! What're you doing over there!?" The people closest to Zeb turned around and saw the stranger as well. One man put his hand on his sword, just in case the stranger charged, but the others remained passive.

Tenning raised his hands weakly, "You speak to a lost soul, my friend. I remember nothing for months before now. I have nought but a journal and a dull sword on my person. Check if you want. I just want to know what is going on."

Zebulon thought about what Tenning said. From this distance, it looks like the evidence supports his answer. And he did come from a weird angle....almost like he came from somewhere that wasn't Clocktown... Zeb exchanged looks with the people who were paying attention, then decided on his course of action.

"I arrived from Hyrule just earlier today, so I can only tell you so much. However, I think I know someone who might." Zeb turned to the person on his left and whispered a few words. The person nodded to show he understood the directions, then went into the crowd that was unaware of the traveler.

"In the meantime, come over here." Zeb said, turning back to Tenning. "This long distance conversation is attracting attention." Zeb exchanged looks with the people behind him, and they integrated themselves back into the crowd.

Tenning nodded and continued forward until he was much closer to Zeb. He stopped a few feet away, "Who is this person you speak of?"

"I don't know his name, but earlier he made a speech on that rock over there." Zeb said, pointing to the rock. "It seems like he has some history with the enemy, so it's likely these people will choose him as their leader."

At that moment, Edward seemed to just randomly appear right next to Zeb. "Someone informed me I needed to speak with a newcomer." Edward looked at Tenning. "I'm assuming that would be you. Pleasure to meet you. I'm Edward Lomeli. How can I help you?"

Tenning nodded, "My name is Tenning. Long story short, I left Clock Town a while back and have been lost in the mountains for months. So I just want to know... WHAT in Majora's name is going on here?" He was beginning to worry... he hadn't seen anyone he'd recognized yet. He hoped that they hadn't... he tried not to think about it.

Edward frowned. "If that's the case, Tenning, then you need to be caught up to speed." Edward took a deep breath, and began to speak. "Earlier today, a very powerful man by the name of Maxwell Kal launched an attack on Clocktown. At first, his forces came through one entrance, making Clocktown focus and exhaust their forces there. When they were done, the rest of his army came in from all sides and annihilated Clocktown's defense. I don't know for sure, but I am almost sure the soldiers harmed civilians. When the defense was done, Maxwell ascended the clock tower and told the citizens who had stayed or failed to make it out that he would become king, and as king, he would rule Termina and take control of the surrounding nations of Hyrule, Labrynna, and Holodrum by brute force. Unfortunately, unlike most, this man has all bark AND all bite. To stop him, everyone here is organizing a resistance based off of my ideas which will target Maxwell's weaknesses and stop the threat before it becomes uncontrollable."

Zebulon looked at Edward. "Wait a second, Maxwell blocked off the entrances before he got on the clock tower. How could you hear his speech?"

Edward turned his head and made eye contact with Zeb. "Aside from it being loud enough to be heard throughout all of Clocktown? I...have some history with him."

Zeb wanted to question Edward further, but he knew it would be better to ask at a later time.

Tenning was seeing red when he heard this, "Well then. there's no question on where my loyalties lie. Was it only Clock Town? Or did the other races fall as well?"

"The other races didn't fall. It was only an assault on Clock Town."

Zeb felt like questioning that, but he felt like it wasn't a good time. Suddenly, the noise level of the chatter in the crowd rose as people yelled at four people who pushed their way through. Zeb and Edward both turned around to find the four right behind them.

"We have been chosen as the representatives. What do we do now?"

"Come with me. I'll explain your jobs in further detail." And with that, Edward led the four behind the boulder on which he had made his speech. Zeb made eye contact with Tenning.

"Well, they're gone. Let's go join the crowd."

Sephira had raised an eyebrow as James cut himself off and followed his gaze. She frowned as she saw the tower rearing above the hills and canyon walls, but decided to ignore it. It was behind them after all, so why should they worry about it? She did, however, frown with concern when she heard Inga's question and followed the woman's gaze. The group she had pointed out didn't seem to be small enough to simply be passing through, like their own group. Sephira glanced down at Star. "How many?"
The cheetah shook her head. "Many. I smell at least a dozen fires, which means there is roughly a hundred people here. I can see cubs and females as well as males, but they all have a wary air about them. Many seem to have weapons."
"I can hear more weapons being forged," Midnight added, making sure to send Elwood a cheerful look to avoid making it seem as if he was ignoring the Kokiri's comment. "The camp seems rather disorganized, so they haven't been here long, but long enough that they've made lean-tos."
Sephira nodded. "That makes them fighters planning to attack somewhere." She said this in Hylian without meaning to; she had been wanting to keep her conversation with her animals private until they knew better what was going on.

Kaida frowned as she spotted the group. They hadn't been there earlier, and she didn't remember seeing a group this big anywhere on the way to or from Clock Town. She would have heard about them anyways; the underground kept tabs on large groups, either as raiding or bounty possibilities, or to hire out as guards. And a group this large would have moved slowly, so even being away for a month wouldn't have made a difference. So where had these guys come from?
Then she saw Clock Town. It was different from when she left, remarkably so. The walls were damaged as if from a heavy siege, the gates were sealed shut, and new flags flew from the ramparts and clock tower. She didn't recognize the insignia on any of them, though. "Leadership must have changed hands," she said, sounding as if it was an every day occurrence. It wasn't, but she never really cared about who was in charge. As long as she could still practice her trade with the minimum taxes she and others like her expected, she'd be alright with whatever. After all, she didn't care about politics, never had. All she cared about was how much of her money she had to give up to the tax collectors that came knocking every few months. Speaking of which, she'd be due for a payment soon. The thought made her scowl.

Donovan eased up quite a bit as they finally left Ikana behind them. It had been too long of a day, and the route through the canyon didn't help one bit. All of his muscles loosened and Donovan let his eyes open again. He looked out, taking in the familiar view of Termina Field. He knew it wasn't a bad place, but after the adventure through unknown lands, the field looked more friendly than ever. Then he noticed the crowd the others were talking about. Obviously something strange was going on--in the field you don't see much travelers, let alone a huge cluster like this. And he realized that they weren't travelers but maybe fighters like Sephira said. That confused him. Had something as big as leadership really changed while him and Kaida were gone? It didn't seem like they were away long enough for that to happen...
"Wha...?" he muttered, puzzled. "When did this happen?" He looked at Kaida, fearing that yet another obstacle would interrupt their hopes of being alone. "And how are we supposed to get to Clocktown without them killing us?" he whimpered, assuming that the crowd would come after them. He couldn't tell if the fighters were a good thing or bad.

Tennor looked at the camp. He'd seen this kind of thing before....
                            Something was wrong.
Unsure what it was, he snuck closer, trying to see without being seen.
Like that had worked out in the past.

The camp soon noticed them. Some of them starting yelling things across the camp, but others just stood and observed the newcomers. Eventually, a group of six people, with Edward taking point and Zeb at the back, approached the newcomers. Jacob watched from the camp.

Hello, travelers. May I speak to your leader?" Edward asked, trying to be polite as he could to give the group the idea he had no plans to harm them.

Zeb, being in the back, couldn't see the group, so he turned back to see the camp. He made eye contact with Jacob, who didn't seem to want to tell Zeb anything. Zeb focused his attention back on his group, and waited for the response.
