James gave Sephira one last meaningful look as if to say 'be careful' and then allowed himself to be escorted into the camp. He walked beside the horse where Inga and Elwood were still sitting and spoke to Elwood in a hushed voice. "Whatever happens, you stay close to Inga or me, alright El?" he asked. Elwood nodded without understanding why James was worrying so much. In Elwood's mind the fact that they were in a camp meant they were safe. James then looked at Inga as he walked. "It seems he has grown to like you, please look out for him if I'm not around," he smiled at the girl. He was glad she was there. Finally James looked down at Star and Midnight and whispered to them. "You guys are our fastest members. Star, if anything were to happen please hurry to Sephira. She should know if anything happens and I'd feel better knowing you were with her. I know she's strong but...I don't want to risk it. And Midnight," he looked at the wolf, "If anything does happen, I need you to take Elwood with you and run. I don't know where since we're in unknown territory, but just get the two of you out of danger, please." He smiled once more and took a deep breath before looking straight ahead. Perhaps he was being overtly paranoid, but being in a camp full of rebels, anything could happen. They knew nothing of this war, and perhaps Edward had lied to them and they were in fact the "bad guys." If that were the case, then nothing kept them from going from "recruits" to "hostages". He hoped it didn't come to that, and by the looks of the people they were passing, it probably wouldn't. Some of them looked injured to massive degrees, and only parts actually appeared to be fighters. Most of them looked like normal people that had escaped from their homes. He felt bad for them.

Tennor walked behind James, next to Ea. He looked at her when she asked the question. "Well we just got to Termina Field and found this camp that belongs to the rebels because a civil war is currently happening here. So, we were split into groups, James with Sephira, Inga with Elwood, and you with me, but Sephira thought we should rest so now we're being escorted somewhere in camp to do so while she talks with some guys," he explained. He hoped he wasn't missing anything and kept walking.

(Since nobody ever did specify whether or not they would take on DN's characters in his absence, I think anyone can RP with them if their character is interacting with them. Of course don't kill Tennor or anything while you're at it. I don't believe DN colored his talk, but for the sake of clarity I'm coloring Tennor Orange when I use him in my posts.)

Ea nodded, soaking it in, then chuckled softly. A tad ironic, it would seem. First she comes close to killing a man, then she's partnered with him. Interesting, to say the least. She followed the group to where they were being led, and looked forward to the opportunity to rest. It had been a long while, and the thought of even a blanket on the ground made her eyelids heavy as she walked.
So I'm back, or at least I will be eventually. Trying to reintegrate myself.

Sephira smiled at James' demonstration, wondering if he had done that on purpose, or just couldn't dispel the magic properly. She had seen some people who had to carry through with a spell after starting, although she never had that difficulty. Fire was hers to control, completely. She could summon and dispel it with ease.
She waved farewell to Donovan and Kaida as they rode off, a little surprised to see Zarola remain behind. She raised an eyebrow at the panther, but her only answer was a yawn. The black leopard stayed behind as the others were led off as well, making Sephira even more curious. But the creature simply lay down at her feet and went to sleep. Sephira shook her head in amazement, then turned her attention to the man before her. He introduced himself as John and explained the purpose of the questions. As she expected, it was to determine where to place her and her group. At first he seemed bored, perhaps even annoyed, but abruptly his attitude changed as he asked, "How many years of combat training have you received, Princess Sephira?"
She frowned. "I've trained to fight my whole life. I am the only one of my group who is a Stari, and my race," she grimaced at having to make the distinction, "teach our young to fight and hunt from birth. As for strategy, well, I'm the only Stari still alive. So I think that would mean I have enough survivalist-instincts and craft to do whatever I need to." She scowled at herself for making it seem as if it had been her skill that kept her alive, not luck. "Why? What are you planning?"

Star and Midnight both followed James as they were led from Sephira. Neither liked leaving their mistress, but they both had heard her comment about their exhausted state, and both knew she was right. They heard James' instructions and nodded. "Going to be a long night," Midnight said to Star as he moved to Elwood's side.
"Yes it is," Star answered with a yawn. She was going to stay with James, unless trouble came up. She knew Sephira would want her to protect the young man. Likely when he lay down, she'd curl up at his side, her head on his chest, to be sure he wouldn't be able to sneak out without her knowing. She wasn't sure she'd be able to sleep lightly enough to sense his departure without him having to actually move her.

John nodded. Yes, this was going to work out.

"Questions at the end. Now, if you had to, could you pretend like you never met us? Or know anything about us? And if someone learned otherwise, could you convince them to believe what you want them to believe?"

I really hope this works. Edward was right when he said we can't send anyone who comes from Termina, and who knows whether more visitors will come or if they can qualify.

          ----------------------------------------
          Meanwhile, in the camp....

Zeb and Jacob sat in the part of the camp closest to Clock Town, looking as some of the townsfolk left behind started repairing the wall under the watch of some guards.

"You think they're patching up the 'hidden' entrance?" Jacob asked, referring to the way the raiders usually got into Clock Town.

"Yeah, but I'm sure Ed knows another way through." Zeb replied, trying to get his earlier humiliation off of his mind.

"What're you going to do if some people from the new group are assigned to your unit?" Jacob asked, randomly switching the subject to keep the conversation.

"If I do anything, I'm as good as dead. Ed will either exile me or beat the crap out of me." Zeb replied, trying to suggest that they should avoid anything to do with the new group.

After a few more minutes the people escorting the group stopped. They had been brought to a small part of the camp where some beds had been improvised on the floor. It wasn't much but James knew it was all they could ask for right now. "Thank you," he told the guys quietly and then turned to the horse. He grabbed Elwood by the waist and pulled him off the horse.
"Bye horsey," Elwood muttered before setting both feet back on the ground. He was now feeling the full blow of tiredness from the day and instantaneously fell on one of the made beds and was out. Midnight hurried to his side, snuggled up next to him with his head on the boy's chest and soon both of them were breathing without a worry on their mind. James smiled and then gave Inga a hand on getting off the horse. Finally he moved to a made-bed beside Elwood's and set his pack and things down next to it, where he could reach them instantly. He was unsure, so he kept the knife Sephira had given him in its sheath on his leg. He lowered himself slowly, and felt the weight of the past few days dawning on his brain and his eyelids felt heavy. Before he was completely out he notices Star come and curl up by his side. The last thing he remembered was a silent prayer to the goddesses to keep them safe, and Star laying her head on his chest lightly.

Sephira nodded warily as she placed a cautious hand on her sword hilt. "I once convinced someone who didn't believe in the goddesses that I was the Lady Din. A huntress knows how to hide, John. I f she didn't, she'd die." Her fingers tapped against the sword hilt lightly. She didn't have a good feeling as to where this was going. "I just need to know what I need to be and change accordingly. The right clothes, the right story, the right gestures, mannerism, and language. Once I know what I need to be, I need a little while to change myself, from the inside out. It's easiest if I figure out what I am though," she added, narrowing her eyes. "What are you needing?"

"Will do," Inga replied to James when he told her to look out for Elwood. She smiled and let him give her a hand in stepping off her horse. Being a Sheikah, she had been taught to live independently, so an action as simple as being helped off a horse felt strange to her. Of course, she didn't reject it--she actually liked being around people more, being less uptight like other Sheikahs. She wasn't even in the country she was supposed to protect, so she had nothing much to worry about. From a young age, Inga knew she was different from the others. She wasn't as concerned about the Sheikah values, and she wasn't just realizing it now that she was in Termina. She clearly remembered all the days in Castle Town swiping trinkets from the market, and playing with Hylian men's hearts.
Inga walked to the resting area and took a bed by Elwood and James, but not very close. She made sure to choose a spot on the outside of the camp too, not being in between anyone. She naturally needed her space. Although, her Sheikah ability of not needing much rest would stick around, and if she was going to sleep at all, it would take her a while. She sat on the bed for a while, just watching the others. She had already grown to like Elwood and James, and didn't find anything weird with them. She had a good deal of respect for Sephira too, being the last Stari and possibly being the one to save Donovan earlier. She thought about going to see what questions they were asking the Stari, out of curiosity. There was a lot to find out about the whole Termina situation.

John shrugged. "Heck if I know. All I know is that if someone with your qualifications joins the resistance, I'm supposed to send them over to Edward. So, if you want answers to your questions, go to him. He should be pretty easy to find. Just say you qualify, and he'll probably get it. He's smarter than most in this camp, including me."

(Zeb's text color changes to green.)

Zeb and Jacob were still watching Clock Town when they heard some people started yelling.

"They're drunk already? Better not be from my unit this time." Zeb said, trying to get a look at the fight.

Jacob started looking for the fight as well. "Look, over there!" Jacob said, pointing to their left. There was a man of about 40, a man of about 20, and of course, both were drunk.

"I don't recognize either them. Do you?" Zeb asked.

Jacob nodded. "They're in cooking staff. I think that's the head chef, and one of the younger chefs."

"Well, hopefully, the old guy beats up the younger one. Can't have the food quality going down."

Unlike most things, both Jacob and Zeb agreed on that statement.

"Very well," Sephira said, her eyes still narrowed. She was willing to bet John wasn't as ignorant as he claimed, but it was unimportant. He was adamant that she should speak with Edward about whatever it was. So after making sure he had no further questions, she moved into the camp, Zarola at her heels. She was a little surprised to see the panther was still hanging around, even more so that she was following her, but the animal companion helped relax her edginess. Zarola might not be one of her partners, but she was similar enough to them both that her mind relaxed somewhat. If only the panther would stop snapping playfully at passer-byes.
She glanced over as she heard a ruckus start up and wondered what it was about. However, it seemed irrelevant so she forced herself to dismiss it. "Where would he be?" she muttered to herself, looking around the camp for Edward.
"Where his scent trail leads," Zarola answered, as if it was obvious.
Sephira rolled her eyes. "I know that. But I can't smell him, so his scent trail doesn't do me any good, does it."
Zarola shook her head, as one does when baffled by another's inability. "You two legs really are useless, you know. Follow me, I'll show you where he hides." The panther started heading off, her head lowered to better pick up the scent trail. Sephira followed her, wondering if it would at all be possible to teach the creature respect of any sort.
Eventually, they found the rebel leader. Zarola lay back down next to Sephira as the Stari said, "John said to tell you I qualify, but refused to explain what he meant. What exactly do I qualify for? I assume it isn't a prize."

Edward wasn't really shocked when Sephira approached him. He knew something was different about this group.

"Refuse to explain what he meant? He doesn't know what he meant. I simply told him what to look out for, and if he found those things in a person, he should send them to me. That's all he SHOULD know, anyway." Edward said, more or less trying to defend his friend of sorts. "We don't really have the luxuries of prizes here. The mothers arrange games for the children, and the kids get something random if they win, but besides that, we got nothing."

"You're going to take the most dangerous job, Princess Sephira. You're going to be the insider."

                      -----------------------------------------

Very quickly, the fight got loud and violent. The two men were trying to beat each other up, but they were both drunk, so the punches and kicks were lazy.

Jacob and Zeb exchanged looks. Jacob hinted that Zeb should break it up, but Zeb wasn't really in the mood to. After a quiet argument, Zeb finally decided to go break up the fight.

Zeb walked up to the fight, putting himself in between the two men while keeping them apart.

"Gentlemen, what would be the problem here?"

"He nabbed the drink I payed for!" The younger one said.

Zeb reflexively almost said that nobody had to pay for food in the resistance at camp, but then remembered that you had to pay for alcohol, and they limit how many drinks you can get depending on how easy you can get drunk.

"Ha! He was going over his limit, but the bartender didn't know any better, so I took it for his own safety!" The older man retorted.

Zeb looked to the others observing the fight, and they inclined that the older man was right, but he should pay the younger one back.

"Okay, here's what you two are going to do. Head Chef, you will repay your trainee, and Trainee, you will apologize. I would also suggest praying to the Giants or whoever you worship that you don't get fired."

The two men tried to hit each other a few more times, but then did as Zeb said. Zeb walked back to Jacob, who was satisfied with the action Zeb took.

"I'd say you recovered from your earlier embarrassment."

Zeb rolled his eyes. Jacob was so young, but he was as mature as an adult. What kind of life did this kid have anyway?

Sephira frowned. She figured it was going to be something like that, based on the questions. She doubted John was clueless though, since he had jumped right on that road of questioning. Still, she saw no reason to argue about it. There was the more pressing issue of her assigned job.
An insider would be easy enough to pull off. The only difficulty would be how far up she needed to be. The higher up, the harder the role would be, and the more dangerous. She guessed, though, that she’d have to be as close to the top as she could. Then she’d need to figure out how to send messages back and forth. Her first thought was Midnight, but it would depend on her role as to how she’d explain him.
She crossed her arms. ”Very well, Edward. Who do I need to be and what do you know of the leader?” She could portray herself as a variety of things to get in with the boss. It would be easier if he was male, easier still if he was Hylian. Or rather, Terminian. But she was certain she could pull it off regardless.
Of course, the easiest role of all would be as a harlot. Men were fairly easy to seduce, and then tease secrets out of.

His name is Maxwell Kal. Ever since he overheard a conversation between his father and his uncle, he's been obsessed with becoming king. This obsession has led to him killing his own father and believing that he can do anything he wants to, when he wants to, and how he wants to, especially when it comes to killing people. He was trained by an ancient tribe called the Hidden, who made him the tactician and fighter that he is today. After his training was complete, he killed them off. Before the invasion of Clock Town, he had a partner by the name of Yuki, but we don't know if she survived the invasion. Maxwell is very arrogant, and he doesn't care for the lives that he ruins or destroys." Edward took a deep breath. He was starting to get angry just talking about Maxwell, and that was the last thing he wanted to happen.

"The reason I don't take this job is because Maxwell knows me, and he would have me killed on the spot. You have an advantage, because he doesn't know you. If you walk in, and pretend like you never came across the resistance, it'll be good enough. He's smart, but he could never guess that you were a spy. Because of that, it's really up to you who you want to be."

Edward took a minute to think through what he said to make sure he didn't miss anything, then waited for Sephira's response.

Sephira nodded, wondering briefly if there was more to this confrontation than just reclaiming the country. There must be some blood between Edward and this Maxwell. Her mind buzzed from thought to thought, idea to idea, as she considered how to best approach this Maxwell. She questioned Edward, trying to get a better idea of which role would be best. She decided that while a harlot would have been easy enough, Maxwell was too smart to fall for that. A soldier of fortune, like Kaida, wouldn't work either; he didn't seem to be much for the hired help. An assassin would be nice, but he didn't seem to really need the help to kill.
Her mind kept returning to this Yuki, who seemed to have been Maxwell's second-in-command, and who seemed to have vanished. "He'll be wanting a new beta," she murmured, her eyes unfocused as she considered. "Someone more dignified than the old blood-thirsty one; clever enough to be worth it, but not so much that she'd be a threat. Someone who isn't afraid to get dirty, and keeps her thoughts to herself until the peons are gone. A lady who can take quiet the populace, but can be deadly when crossed." Her bearing and accent shifted subtly to better match the persona she was planning for herself. Her mind was racing to describe her history, but she quickly decided that her own would actually work better, with minor tweaks here and there. As for her outfit...
Her gaze sharpened on Edward. What do you have in the way of red outfits? A simplistic dress would be the best. Preferably a dark red, one that would reminisce about burning coals and blood in a dark room."

Edward chuckled. "I don't have one, but I know where to find one. Stay here." Edward stood up and walked out. A few minutes later, he came back with a few dresses.

"One of these should do it. Or at least, I hope they do. I looked ridiculous carrying these." Edward said, handing them to Sephira.

"Now, I'm not sure how likely this is, but if one person from your group wants to come along, you're going to have to bring them back to me so I can figure out whether or not they should go in the first place. Oh, and also, make sure the rest of your group knows what you're doing. You seem to trust me a little, since you're taking this job, but I'm not so sure about the people you brought with you."

                              --------------------------------------

After the fight between the two men, Zeb and Jacob continued to watch the citizens repair the wall. Nothing really interesting was happening, but then Jacob saw someone else come out of Clock Town, and he didn't look like a citizen at all. In fact, the clothes he wore looked similar to the clothes Maxwell wore on the day of the invasion. In fact, from what Jacob could see, this man looked a lot like the self-proclaimed king of Termina...

"Zeb, look over there." Jacob said, pointing to the person that looked like Maxwell. Zeb took a few seconds to look at the guy, and nodded.

                              "That's him."

Jacob started to say something, but fell silent when he saw Max start to move. Max walked over to the ladder that someone was using to get to a higher part of the wall. He waited till the worker finished, then kicked the ladder. The ladder fell down, and the fate of the poor man was not visible from Jacob's vantage point. Maxwell looked at the body for about two seconds, then went back inside. Zeb proceeded to swear for about a minute, then stopped when he remembered he was next to a kid.

"Oh. Sorry about that, kid." Zeb said, ashamed that he didn't hold himself back. He forgot Jacob was a kid sometimes. Jacob didn't really seem to carry much, so Zeb shrugged it off.

Sephira nodded her thanks as she accepted the dresses. "Thank you. And no, my people don't trust you. Frankly, neither do I. However, I believe that if I tried to travel through your land while you are still at war, we would be attacked and I'd very much rather not let that happen. At least for now, I have no choice but to help you." She folded the dresses over her arm, then placed a fist over her heart and bowed. "I will inform you of how I plan to proceed as well as how I will send reports to you in the morning. I doubt I will be bringing one of my people with me, but I will for sure be bringing one of my animals with me. Good night, Edward." She turned and headed to where her group was sleeping.
She smiled as she saw Midnight stretched out on his side with his belly to Elwood, so the Kokiri was snuggled up to the softer fur on his belly, and at Star with her head on James' chest. Inga, Ea, and Tennor were more scattered around, each curled up in whatever position they had fallen asleep in. "I am their leader," Sephira breathed. "I have to keep them safe. Oh Elliot, I hope you're right."
"Sephira." The Stari looked down at Zarola. Golden eyes looked back up at her as the black leopard sat down next to her. "Use me as your messenger. Neither your wolf nor your cheetah are as used to Clock Town or Termina Field as I am. I am also more capable than they. They both grew up with you to protect them and help them; I grew up with only myself. I can get out of difficult scraps that they wouldn't. So use me."
Sephira knelt down. "Thank you, Zarola. That would make it easier for me, knowing that both my partners are protecting my pack." She started to rub Zarola's cheek, but the leopard flinched away from the touch. "Sorry. I forgot." She smiled, then stood and started to look through the dresses Edward had given her. It was a difficult choice, but she eventually decided on a simplistic one that would suit her purposes. If she managed to get in Maxwell's good graces, she'd be able to get better ones if she needed them.
By the time the sun rose, she had changed into her new outfit, readied Ash to ride into town, and finished her persona. She had even taken her hair from its braid, allowing the wavy locks of gold to fall past her shoulders in a gentle cascade. Now she just needed James to wake so she could tell him where she was going, hopefully before the others woke. Please, goddesses, let him understand.
