Star lifted her head as a girl sat beside her. She didn't smell like a Terminan, more like a Hylian, yet Star didn't remember seeing her join the group. Were there others here from Hyrule? Not that it mattered. It was just nice to be around a Hylian who wasn't pretending to be interested in this rebellion. Or at least didn't seem to be interested. It was hard to tell with humans. She flicked her tail and lay her head back down. At least James wasn't losing any more.

Midnight yipped in surprise as Elwood jumped on him, nearly falling down at the sudden weight. By some luck he managed to keep his feet under him and thus kept both himself and Elwood from tumbling to the ground. The wolf growled playfully and started to buck as if trying to detach the Kokiri, but gently. He didn't want to hurt his friend.

The Instructor stood back up, not ready to give up. There were no snarky remarks this time, as he had been knocked down by a child. There was a rekindled flame of fury in his eyes. He took a step towards James to be within reaching distance, then in a split second pulled a metal rod from his back and reacted too fast for James to do anything about it. He aimed it low and swung hard, hitting James right behind his knees, near where he was still healing from the burn back in the desert. The pain was too much for James to stand, so he dropped to his knees and a reflex forced his eyes shut. The Instructor took advantage of this in the form of a knee right in his face, hard. James fell back and could feel blood building in his mouth. He spit it out and one look told Ea and Tennor not to get involved. This was his fight, and he was going to see it through.

Meanwhile, Elwood was laughing and forgot to hold on hard enough. He slipped from Midnight's back and tumbled to the floor, but it wasn't nearly bad enough to hurt him. He simply kept laughing, that is until he heard a female voice squeal nearby. "Elwood! Oh my Giants get away from that thing, what are you thinking?!" The caretaker that was supposed to be looking after him hurried to gather Elwood from the floor and tried shooing Midnight away, as further away from the animal as she could, clearly scared. Elwood frowned. What was the crazy lady doing, shooing his friend?

James stumbled back to his feet. "You're resilient kid, I'll give you that much." The Instructor swung downwards, leading to James sidestepping. He took hold of the metal rod, pulling it back, but the Instructor stepped hard on his foot. He groaned, and in a split second a fist came rushing straight at his eyes. He didn't let go, no matter how many stars he was currently seeing. In fact, his right eye was now too blurry to even see through it, so he would have to rely on the left one to win. He performed an uppercut at the Instructor, then a head-butt (which was not a very good idea seeing as his head was already pounding). People were now beginning to yell, choosing sides and encouraging the two combatants.
"Give up, kid, you're done for!"
"That old man doesn't stand a chance, keep going!" James tried not paying attention to any of it as he pushed the Instructor a way to catch his breath. One soon-to-be black eye through which he couldn't see anymore, a very hurt chin and legs, he didn't see how it could get any worse.

Star started to jump to her feet as the man hit James, only barely managing to catch herself before interfering. She knew that these Terminans would react the same as Hylians: they'd take it as a threat and attempt to hurt her. Only here, Sephira wasn't around to explain it away. She had to content herself with a long, low growl, her tail twitching and the fur on the ruff of her neck standing up. Sephira was not going to be happy when she found out James had gotten hurt, and for something so trivial. What was the point of this fight anyways? It wouldn't better James' standing in the pack, so why start it? It didn't make sense to her, although from the way these other Terminans were reacting to it, it was important. Why was simply beyond her.

Midnight turned anxiously as he felt the weight fall off him, afraid Elwood had hurt himself in the fall. Seeing his friend was alright, he grinned and barked happily, only to flinch as a high-pitched female voice squealed nearby. A woman snatched Elwood up and tried to shoo Midnight away. The wolf flattened his ears and growled. He didn't know who this person was, although he recognized her scent on Elwood's clothes. The Kokiri had been around her before Midnight had pulled him away. Not that it mattered any. She was trying to take him away now and the wolf was having none of that. Elwood was his and as long as neither hurt the other, there was no reason to call for an adult two-legs. So she'd better put the boy down before he got more serious about his threat.

Eventually, the crowd was got so big and so loud Edward went to investigate. He saw James fighting with the instructor and thought about stopping it, but decided to see if the boy could actually win.

Zebulon noticed Edward watching, and showed Jacob. "As I predicted, Ed decides to watch."

It definitely did get worse, as the Instructor rushed James. He sidestepped and tried to trip him, but it didn't work too well. The instructor dodged and swung at James. He managed to duck just in time, and this time it was he who charged the older man. He grabbed on to the man's stomach and tried throwing him down against the floor. His force wasn't enough, and the Instructor elbowed him on the back. James jumped back and almost growled at the older man. However, just then a weird thought popped into his mind. Sephira. What was she doing at the moment? That single moment of lost concentration was enough for the Instructor to move in, take hold of his right wrist, raise it into the air and twist. It was fast and simple, but it was one of the slowest moments of the fight for James. He felt his fingers turn downwards and inwards as a very clear, distinctive cracking noise resounded through the camp. A collective gasp from some members of the crowd ensued. James gasped and had to bite his tongue to keep himself from screaming. He knew the fight was ending. Either he was going to beat the old guy soon, or he was going to pass out from the pain. He hoped it wasn't the latter.
Elwood kicked and squirmed in the lady's arms. "Let me down! Let me down!" he demanded, and that on top of Midnight's growling was enough for her to stumble away from the animal. Elwood managed to slip out of her grip and hurry next to Midnight. "You're a bad lady! He's my friend, and I don't want you anymore." She stared at the odd pair, either curiousness or irritation in her eyes.

"Huh. Usually more folks show up for breakfast than this..." said the woman who previously rang the bell.
It was her first day on the job, but Inga could tell that this was unusual. In fact, the only familiar person she noticed to show up was Tennor, and he answered why there were such little people. Apparently James had gotten into a fight with a combat instructor. A fight already? She hadn't gotten to know James very well yet but wondered if he had a tendency to get into fights. The few people who had shown up for breakfast were already being served, so out of curiosity Inga wandered over to where a ring had formed around James and the instructor. It was always fun watching a good battle. She didn't mind if it was a bit dirty either, but sometimes it hurt to watch whoever she had been rooting for lose miserably. She did cringe a little when the intructor gave James a good punch to the face as soon as she had arrived, but was relieved to see that James was able to return one, plus a rather interesting headbutt. There was no telling who was going to win, but it looked like James had a chance, even if he looked a bit beat up. As the crowd became more riled up, she began to cheer for James. She certainly wasn't protective of the strong young man, but she would have hated to watch him lose. However, it wasn't a beautiful sight to see an old, overweight man getting punched either. It was only a matter of time before someone stepped in to break it up.

Jackylin watched the fight, though she thought it was stupid, but she cheered with half the crowd when James got in some decent blows and flinched when he got smacked around by the instructor. The big cat next to her jumped when James got beat with more than a few hits, and she wondered if he was her keeper or something of the sort. She made a mental note to ask after the fight when James was conscious again, assuming he would get knocked out.

Star's tail lashed as James hesitated, giving his opponent a chance to grab and break his wrist. What was he doing? You didn't pause in a fight! It could very easily have cost him more than just a broken wrist. Focus on the fight, everything else could wait. She glanced at the woman beside her, noting that while she cheered for James, she seemed to being expecting a different result.

As the woman dropped Elwood, Midnight stepped closer, putting himself between her and the boy. He lowered his head and gave a last warning snarl. He waited until her paled face indicated she understood the warning, then turned and herded his friend away. He had noticed a small pool earlier, maybe they could splash around in it for a while.

Edward sighed, remembering he had swore to protect Sephira's group with his life, and he was doing a horrible job of it right now.

"Alright, break it up." Edward said, stepping forward and standing between the two. Some of the crowd was disappointed, while others seemed to have no reactions. "Go back to what you should be doing. We don't have time for this nonsense." Some of the crowd grumbled, but everyone went back to what they were doing.

Edward looked at James. "I swore on my life I would protect you and your group, so I hope you know getting in useless fights doesn't help me. Now, I'll have to explain this to Sephira, and instead of blaming you for your stupidity, she will blame me for not stopping it immediately." Edward sighed. "But you know what? You didn't do so bad. In fact, you still had a chance of beating him, but I had to step in before you got more injured. You're a good fighter. Probably one of the best in the camp. But you have to learn to be less reckless and stupid if you want to get anywhere. Got it?"

                    • James cast one last glare at the instructor as he turned away to face Edward. He couldn't say he was very pleased that the fight had been stopped without proper conclusion. Many people were probably betting against him near the end, and now he didn't have a chance to prove that he was still going to overcome his opponent. He looked at Edward straight in the eyes, not blinking nor flinching. "I wasn't aware fighting for what one believes is right is reckless, especially not in a rebel base," James started, but stopped himself by taking a deep breath. He could see Edward had a point, but it still didn't mean he was pleased with it. "Don't worry about Sephira, that's my problem. And try not to sound so condescending, will you? I appreciate what you're doing, but you have no right to call out what you think is reckless or stupid about myself. Yeah, I'm a great fighter, and I have been through enough to know a good leader, from a reckless one that seems to be going off of personal vendettas as hard as he may try to hide it. I just hope you know where you truly stand."
As he stopped talking, James could tell his response had been far more aggressive that he had planned in his mind. Apparently it was hard for him to hide how he truly felt about the rebel leader. He just hoped it would get the message across that he was not a boy, nor someone under his control.

                      • Edward glared intensely at James.

"You know what? I will try to be less condescending, but listen. My past with Maxwell is NONE of your business. You haven't seen half the things I've seen. You don't know him as well as I do. Sure, part of this might be because of personal reasons, and that make me a bad guy, but if you knew him as I know him, you would swear to the giants or the gods or whatever you worship that I am an angel. I am trying to do what is best for Termina. Now, I ask you that you respect me, as I am the higher authority here, and I will respect you.

Edward was very mad now, and found it very hard to be reasonable. However, he knew that the two of them had to at least respect each other for this to work out nicely, so he tried to work towards that.

                        • James sighed under his breath, as he heard him talk back to him in the same tone he himself had used. He had been right in thinking it wrong to respond so aggressively, but he still smiled at the revelations of Edward. It did, after all, come down to his personal problems with Maxwell. He just hoped they would truly lead to Termina's well-being, whatever that entailed. He was tired from the fight, too tired to keep fighting.
"I apologize, Edward, if I sounded too harsh. I don't claim to know Maxwell as well as you, I don't know him at all but for what I've heard. It is up to you how you go about this, and if you do attempt to respect me then I respect you in return." At least, I will respect you as much as you show me you deserve. James could feel the pain in his wrist increasing as the remnants of the adrenaline subsided, but he didn't show sign of it. Out of respect, he waited for Edward to acknowledge he could leave.

                          • Star stood as the leader of this pack came and broke up the fight. She was a bit annoyed he had taken so long about it, but at least he tried to convince James not to get into any more fights. She touched the knee of the girl that had been sitting next to her, just to reassure her that she had not minded the company, then trotted over to James. He and Edward seemed to be arguing now, much to her annoyance. The boy went from a fistfight with his leader, to a verbal conflict with the pack leader. Did he not know how to keep in line? She started scolding him, although it sounded more like when a cat chatters at a bird to him.

                            • Tired, in pain, and with a constant voice ringing in his ear trying to tell him something about Sephira, James decided to turn around and leave without waiting for Edward to say anything else. As he walked back to where he could sit and look over his injuries, he noticed Star next to him making weird noises. It surprised him, but he was sure he knew what she was saying. He sighed. "I know, Star. It was stupid, but what's done is done. I just hope Seph won't freak out when she sees me," he mumbled as he reached a medium-sized rock which would work as a seat. He started evaluating the aftermath of the battle.
Touching his face he could tell one of his eyes was pounding, probably already turning black or at least dark-green. His nose wasn't bleeding anymore but it still ached, and his chin made a cracking noise when he opened and closed his mouth. Nothing too serious. Next, he checked his chest. His greatest fear was a cracked rib, as it would impede any sort of fast movements for a few weeks, which he could not afford at the moment. Luckily, as he touched each one, breathing in and out deeply, they only felt sore. Finally, he looked at what he was sure was the worst out of all the injuries. He had been careful not to move it at all while he checked the rest of his body, but now he made the effort. He had some hope it might not be broken. One finger at a time, he tried wiggling them. Each one brought on a new wave of pain, but he knew enough of medicine to understand that it was not, in fact broken. It was trying to turn his hand which came like a new blow to the face. Maybe not broken, but it would definitely need to be bandaged. While he knew how to get by with only one hand, it was not his preferred style of fighting.

He sighed again, shaking his head. Had he not been distracted, the fight would have ended much sooner, and he could now be doing something else. Instead, he was trying to remember if there was still something to wrap his wrist tightly with in his pack.

                              • Star watched him sympathetically, guessing just how hurt he was from every grimace. As he experimented with his hand, she flattened her ears, knowing that's what hurt the most. She stood and trotted off to where she knew Sephira had left her pack. After pawing through the contents, and scattering most of them in a pile around James' tent, she found the bandages and a few herbs she remembered Sephira using for pain. She brought these back to him and laid them next to him, purring softly.
"Warm right up to them, don't you."
Star whirled, her fur raising, as Zarola trotted up. "Aren't you supposed to be with Sephira?"
The panther shrugged as she sat down. "I got bored of watching her going at it with the male. I thought humans usually had to wait for a few moons before deciding each other worthy of mating."
Star snarled. "Sephira wouldn't have without a good reason."
"Is there ever not a good reason?" Zarola asked as she started to wash her face.
The cheetah snorted. "Did you at least bring a message from her?"
"Matter of fact, I did hear something interesting," Zarola answered. "But the humans won't find out, since Sephira's the only one who could speak our language."
"Tell me anyways." Sephira had shown Star had to write, in case the need ever arose for her to do so. She used her tale to scratch the runes into the soil, causing the words to seem blurred, but at least it gave the cheetah talk to people other than her mistress. She had shown this talent to James once before, now she showed him again as she told him what Zarola had over-heard, that he was sending a contingent to back up the group in Great Bay, and a few of his Legion to cause Edward's forces heading to Snowhead to disappear.
