  • Jacky was quiet, and lied back in the grass, covering her eyes. "Revenge, the most I've done is prank my sisters back," She said quietly, mostly to herself. That wasn't what she was expecting from James, but she couldn't see it being much else. The boy had enough scars to be a man; the one she could definitely see on his stomach, and he looked barely eighteen. Her eyes followed the line of that scar from the bottom to the top, rested her eyes a moment on his face, and then stared at the river. The silence between them felt uneasy, but needed, in a way.

    • James was quiet for another moment, the pain still evident in his eyes. It was hard to remember, but harder still to know that there was no way to change the way events took place in the past. He took a deep breath, swallowed, and opened his mouth as if to say something then quickly closed it. His hand, still clutching the pendant, stressed for a second then relaxed, the knuckles becoming white as it happened. "Sometimes, pranking your sister is enough. Had I had a sibling to prank, perhaps things would have turned out differently. We should never forget to appreciate, lest we learn to embrace the pain instead." He closed his eyes again, feeling a sadness brewing in his heart as more images passed by them. Elliot. Rose. His mother. He wished he would be swept away now in a completely different direction, a way to return to a sweet peace.

      • She watched the clouds dance by in the sky, unaware of how James was spilling his heart out. The river and the fish didn't know, and the Sun kept warming them like everything was peachy. "You have to take the negative from your heart to make room for the positive," Jackylin echoed her mom, but it was fitting. Without thinking about it, she scooted closer to James, left a soft kiss on his lips, and scooted back to where she was before she moved, as if it hadn't happened.

        • James' eyes stayed close, and he showed no sign of having noticed. The kiss was soft and delicate, comforting but not conveying any emotion beyond that. It helped rekindle some warmth in him that the Sun wasn't being able to reach. He'd never told anyone his story, even if it hadn't been complete with all the pieces, but in a way it relieved him to know it was out there, free to fly through the skies like the clouds far above them. Without opening his eyes, he asked, "What about you? What's your story?"

          • "It's nothing exciting, but my mom had a lot of kids aside from me. While my dad worked and my brother apprenticed, she had me run errands, so I learned to be fast. And when my sister got old enough to be the runner, I got to leave home like my brother did." She smiled when she remembered first hearing she could leave home. "I'd saved every Rupee I got, and I went all over Hyrule, from Death Mountain to Lake Hylia. I never did get into the Forest, though." She chewed her lip for a minute, piecing up what happened then. "I left for Termina when I heard there was somewhere outside of Hyrule I could go, but now I'm out of money, so I watched the Rebels' Camp, and here we are now." She looked back over to James, smiling a little.

            • James pushed up, laying on his side and resting on his elbow the look at Jacky. Her story sounded so cheerful, he was glad for her. He had the crooked smile on his face again, "Sounds like you've been all over the place. Although, I gotta say the forest is definitely one of my favorite places in Hyrule. I mean, the tranquil Lake Hylia is mesmerizing, the fiery Death Mountain is ravishing, but there's nothing like the sense of freedom that you get in the Lost Woods. You should definitely go there sometime. I mean, of course that is if you ever get enough money to leave Termina," he joked, winking at her. He realized how easy it was to talk with Jacky. He'd spent so much time with Sephira, being careful not to be too forward so as to not frighten her, and while he still loved her, it was nice to get some time to relax. However, his mind was still ringing with worry as to what she was doing at the moment.

              • "Hyrule Field is my favorite," She admitted. "The grass is always green, and there aren't any locals that can restrict you to anything," She sighed. "But the Lake and it's ever-cool water is a close second, mom would let me take my sisters there in the summers." She let her head fall back on the grass and smiled at the sky before she looked back at James. "If I do get the money to go back to Hyrule, would you go with me?"

                • James smiled, but it was no longer the handsome crooked smile. Now it was sad, as if with longing. He wished to say yes, to go back to his home and revisit old adventures. But as much as he wanted to say yes, he couldn't. He'd made a promise to Melody. To Elliot. "I wish I could say yes," he started with a sigh, "but we didn't come here to lose time. The Rebellion is sidetracking us but, you know that kid I was with earlier? We're getting him as far away from Hyrule as we can. I made a promise I would. And I can't just turn my back on him." He sighed again, longer this time. "But, you could come with us! We've heard rumors, faint whispers of another country, beyond the shores of Termina, far out into the sea. It would be the adventure of a lifetime," he finished, almost in a whisper.

                  • Jackylin's eyes lit up and her smile stretched ear-to-ear. "I'd love to," she kept her voice hushed, but threw her arms up past her head, excited about the chance to see more of the world. She rolled in the grass along the river's edge, imagining the new land, what kind of people there would be, and who she could meet, and hundreds of other things before she made it back to James. "As soon as the Rebellion is over?" she asked, covered in dead grass, though without a hint of a faded smile.

                    • James laughed at her reaction. She seemed so excited about life in general. It wasn't everyday that he met someone like her. He nodded in response. "If things go as planned, then yes, as soon as the rebellion is over." He wasn't sure what Sephira would think of her coming along, but he was pretty sure there would be no problem. After all, Sephira was one of the nicest people out there, and so was Jacky. "But don't go blowing up from excitement now," he joked, still laughing, particularly at the dead grass she had accumulated.

                      • "I'm fine," she assured him, brushing the loose grass off and starting to pick out the pieces she could see from her shirt. The sun had dried it for the most part, but it was still damp where her hair lied on it. "What's the plan for the rebellion?" She asked, genuinely curious on how the thing would, hopefully, play out. "And uh, who's rebelling against who? I haven't exactly been here for very long."

                        • Feeling dry enough at last, James pushed himself off the floor and crouched to get his trousers. It hadn't even passed by his mind to think that he had been more than three quarters naked while they had been talking, but it didn't matter either way. He began getting dressed as he answered. "Well, I don't personally know much about it either," he began, retrieving his shirt from the ground, "But I can fill you in on what I do know as we head back. I really should make sure no one's worrying about me, and truth be told, my stomach's beginning to converse with me." Fully dressed now, except for the shoes, he waited for Jacky to respond.

                          • Jacky stood up and dusted more grass of of herself. She personally didn't have to get dressed, but at the same time, didn't mind watching James dress. "That central town, Clocktown, right? It seems really torn up. But, your camp is more or less together, but that's really the most of Termina I've seen. The group I was traveling with headed to the Great Bay, if I remember right." Her stomach growled, cutting her off. "Inga's cooking, right?"

                            • As he finished finished putting on his shoes, James stood up straight. His hair drying from the Sun and air had given it a kind-of curly look. He looked at Jacky watching him as he answered. "Yeah, as together as a rebel camp can be. In all honestly it can't be long before something blows up." He came closer to her, noticing some dry grass she hadn't been able to pick from her hair. He reached to it, standing closer than was average, and took it off. "You missed some," he said softly, then turned to get his things. "Yeah, Inga's cooking I think. Haven't tried her food before, but I hope it's good because I'm starving." He bent over and retrieved his items from the floor and rock, placing each of them where it had been. Were it not for the curious looking hair, you might have not known he had taken a bath in the river. That, and the fact that he was clean. The only thing blotching his face now was the black eye and a couple cuts. "Shall we, then?"

                              • Jacky shook her head when James had backed off, trying to get the rest of it out. "Thanks, I'll get the rest of it off later, I guess." She smiled at him. "And uh, Inga and I aren't exactly on good terms," Jackylin twiddled her thumbs. "I really hope she doesn't poison my food, or anything like that," she started walking back towards camp with James.
