Outside the Deku Palace, everything was well. The birds chirped a merry tune, their feathers slightly ruffling in the wind’s soft whistles. The sun shone brightly in the clear blue sky, promising no rain, and the petals of the flowers down below stretched up to touch its welcoming warmth.
Inside the palace, however, was a different story.
“What do you mean business is declining?!” shouted a voice from within the castle walls. A loud scuffling could be heard from inside as a female Deku stomped around while two other male Dekus stood a safe distance away. “No business of mine ever fails! Ever!” She emphasized her words with a pointed glare. The taller of the male Dekus walked over to her and patted her on the back.
“Now Lilly,” he started after carefully thinking out his choice of words, “That’s why I brought along the nice Mr. Cyprus to help us out. Remember how I told you that I was going to talk to someone that could help us?” He motioned for the shorter, more heavier looking Deku to help him out.
“Er, of course,” said the Deku, adjusting his tie and taking a few steps closer to the still fuming Deku. “Now Miss. Autumn, I have here a fool proof plan that will blast your competitors into last place, if you’ll just hear me out…”
“This better be good,” she grumbled, crossing her arms so that the leaves on her body rustled loudly. “Well go on, then! Out with it!” Cyprus shuffled through the papers he’d been holding in his hands, glanced at them, and nodded.
“Well,” he said, “my company is developing a new item that’s due to be released soon in the markets. A product that’ll really take off once it hits the markets. We’re talking revolutionary, an item that no one will be able to resist. And not just for Dekus, either, mind you. This product is guaranteed to be successful with Terminians and Zoras and what have you. Soon we’ll have it spreading all throughout the land.” Lilly narrowed her glowing eyes at the business scrub in suspicion.
“And what kind of product is that?” she asked.
“Does it matter?” Cyprus said in reply with a glint in his eye. “I’ve caught your attention, haven’t I? The hype will continue to build up and spread everywhere as speculation increases. And taking advantage of that is what we shall do.” Seeing that the couple before him were still hanging on his every word, he pressed onward with a smile. “We shall offer consumers the chance to purchase this product before it comes out. A sort of pre-order, if you will. Because of the hype, more and more people will buy it before it even comes out and we’ll be sure to rack up a lot of money then.”
“It’s an interesting plan, to be sure,” the other male Deku said, rubbing his hand over his leafy beard.
“Hush, Kota, I’m thinking,” Lilly said as she resumed her pacing. She looked at Cyprus who waited expectantly for her answer. “I’m suppose you’ll want a cut of the shares,” she said.
“Naturally. However, all I ask is a meager three percent of your gains.” Lilly nodded, hardly believing her luck. If the plan worked as the scrub said it would, then her business would boom.
“Alright then,” she said. “Let’s do this.”
“Excellent choice!” Cyprus said, putting an arm to his chest and slightly bowing. Then he straitened up and added, “of course, there is a little fee to pay in order to complete the transaction.
“I figured as much,” Lilly grumbled with a huff. “How much?”
“My business requires ten thousand up front.” Lilly gasped and gave an indignant shout.
“You can’t be serious!” she yelled, taking an intimidating step towards the business scrub. Kota held her back before she could give the Deku a thorough pounding.
“Now listen, dear,” he said, trying to rationalize. “I’ve already spoken to a few relatives of mine. Do you remember my great grandfather Alder? How he passed away and left that magnificent sum of money to his son?”
“This isn’t the time for reminiscing,” Lilly grumbled under her breath in annoyance. “What, what about him?”
“As it turns out, he died before the inherited money could be passed over to him. And,” he added, “the next one in line is us.” Lilly’s jaw dropped in shock. Then she whooped and hollered, jumping for joy.
“Yes!” she shouted, rubbing her hands together. “Finally, that scrub makes himself useful!”
“Yes, well,” Kota added hesitantly, twirling his moustache, “technically it isn’t ours exactly.” Lilly stopped in her tracks and turned furious again.
“What?!” she shouted, pushing him back. “Then why did you-“
“What I mean to say is it isn’t technically ours yet,” he corrected before Lilly could proceed to chew him out. “The will, apparently, states that the money belongs to…to…”
“To who?” He sighed and shook his head.
“Odin.” Lilly stared at Kota with a look of disbelief.
    “Odin? But…why…”
“It seems the old man took a liking to the little one,” he concluded. “In any case, we can’t have the money without Odin with us.”
“Then we’ll just have to take him back,” Lilly simply stated. She turned around and whistled. Three other Dekus armed with spears immediately arrived on the spot. “Poor little thing must miss his mommy and daddy very much. How could we not go out and find him?”
“But…how will we find him?” Kota asked with surprise, giving his wife a confused look. “We don’t know where he’s run off to.”
“No,” she replied, “but we do have a clue. Recall that one boy that came barging into the palace one day.” Kota narrowed his eyes in thought. Then realization dawned on him.
“Ah yes,” he said, nodding his head. “The one who claimed to be his friend.”
“The very one. And I do believe he mentioned something about the mountains.”
“Mountains? Then that must mean he’s at—“
“Snowhead,” Lilly finished. “Though why they would choose a frozen wasteland of all the places to live in is beyond me.” She shivered at the thought.
“Well, it shouldn’t be too hard to search for him, considering the place is so empty. We’ll send some of our best scouters out there.”
“I’m already ahead of you,” Lilly replied, turning her attention back to the three alert guards. “Alright, you three! Search the mountains for the little Deku boy! And don’t even think about coming back without him. Understood?” The Dekus nodded and started their march to Snowhead.

*Odin and Widow arrive from Snowhead (The Dark Path)*
Lilly stood outside of the palace’s walls, her arms crossed and eyes narrowed.
She was not being a happy camper.
Kota stood a little to her left, fiddling nervously with his bowtie. There was a clear look of unease on his face. He understood perfectly well the dangers of being near his wife when she was in one of her moods.
“They should’ve been back by now,” the female Deku growled, her open mouth curved in an upside down u. “How hard is it to bring back one tiny little Deku? Just one!” Kota thought it unwise to mention the probability of finding one out of thousands. “Oooh, I swear, once I get my hands on those Dekus I will personally see to it that they get the punishment they deserve!” She was practically bouncing around now, her anger manifesting itself in angry hops, and Kota would’ve found it cute, if it hadn’t been for the fact that she was about ready to strangle someone.
Two Dekus holding spears hesitantly approached her. “M’lady…? We have some news for you…”
“What now,” Lilly snapped, causing the guards to internally flinch though they impressively held their own against her fierce glare. “It had better be good news that you bring to me.”
“Of course, of course!” the taller one quickly replied, followed by several hasty nods of the head by the smaller one. “We’ve come to tell you that we’ve spotted the ones you wait for. One of our scouts report seeing them cross into our borders. Four Dekus and a Terminian female.” Lilly’s face visibly lighted up at the first part of the message, but turned dark again at the last.
“What is a Terminian doing here?” Before the guards could respond, she interrupted them, saying, “Oh, nevermind! I’ve waited far too long for this! Just bring them here to me!”
“So…we shall be taking the boat then?”
“No. You’re going to be walking the entire way there through the river, the excellent swimmers you are.” She hurled a deku nut at them, which they just managed to dodge at the last second. “Imbeciles!” The guards scrambled off before she could throw anything else at them, running through a red and green overpass and towards a dock with a small boat ready and waiting for them. They hopped into it and started the sail down the river.
    ~
The three Dekus had led Widow and Odin to Woodfall and were now anxiously looking around, seemingly waiting for something to appear from the running river. Odin, meanwhile, had wandered a little ways off and was now sitting in the tall grass and playing with the little critters he’d dug up. As much as he liked his home in Snowfall, he’d missed being here, where the climate was much better suited to his kind.
A boat suddenly appeared, stirring much commotion between the Deku guard trio.
“Nasi! Qabil! It’s been a while!” Siegward said, addressing the two Dekus rowing the boat. He ran over to the side of the boat, followed by Aelfare and Pip. “Er…our Lady…” he said quietly, leaning in closely to the newly arrived Dekus, “She is…?”
“It’d do you three well if the child came now,” was all the taller one replied. Siegward quickly nodded, standing up straighter.
“Yes. Of course, Nasi.” He turned to face Widow, clapping his hands together as he did so. “Onto the boat, now!” he said, briskly. “Let’s move it!” He looked at Odin who was still playing in the grass, oblivious to what was going on. “Stop fooling around and come along, child!”

Siegward resisted the urge to slap her in the face, choosing instead to take a deep breath and step into the boat, causing it to rock a little. He crossed his arms and impatiently began to tap his foot, waiting for Widow and Odin to board already so they could get a move on. Aelfare and Pip settled themselves in the back seats, resting their weapons on their lap. Odin wiggled around in Widow's grasp, arranging himself so he could see the boat better. "Let's sit in the front row!" he excitedly exclaimed. "I wanna see us sailing!"

"What's a 'banded'?" Odin absentmindedly asked while leaning over the bow of the boat in an attempt to get closer to the water. Ignoring Odin, Siegward calmly addressed Widow with an air of seriousness about him.
"These 'horrible excuse of parents,' as you so call them, happen to be very important people, and you will treat them as such. I have zero tolerance for lack of respect. You will find that this applies to them as well. Bear in mind that they could easily have you kicked out of the palace whenever they fancy." He caught Odin trying to touch the water and sharply barked out to him. "Hey! Back in your seat before you fall out!"

widow turned and pushed the deku who had yelled at her little Odin out of the boat "one, do you think I care if your masters are important, I'm not going to show them any respect unless they deserve it, same goes for you three" she growled "two, I'm the pirate leader, so does that not make me important as well, and three..... NO ONE SPEAKS TO ODIN LIKE THAT!!" she turned back to face Odin, pulling him away from the water "Odin sweetie, abandoned means when you leave something, or someone and never want to see them again, and you really shouldn't hang over the edge of the boat, they were right about one thing, you could fall into the water, and you wouldn't want to do that now would you"

Siegward was luckily able to hop back onto the boat without sinking underneath the water. However, he did not seem very happy that he was pushed. "One. I hope you realize how outnumbered you are. You're in Deku territory now. Two. No. No it does not. In fact, the mistress wouldn't even care if you were to die right now. Shows how 'important' you are. Three. Would you rather I allowed him to drown in the water?" The two rowers appeared to be getting nervous from all the commotion going on in the boat.
"Hey now, settle down, both of you," the smaller one, Qabil, said. "You're rocking the boat."
Odin had ignored everything else and was staring up at Widow in shock, his eyes wide open. "My mommy and daddy don't want to see me again?" His eyes started to fill with tears. "Is it because I'm a bad boy?"

widow growled at the three deku, but her expression softened when she saw Odin crying "of corse not sweetie" widow said, hugging him tightly against her "I dont know what they want, but I get the feeling it's for nothing good, I'm not going to lie to you Odin" she turned to face the other dell once again "one, I'm outnumbered, but not out smarted, I won't lose to a bunch of deku who obviously have no free will of there own and work for there heartless master without even thinking that it may not be the right thing to do, two I do Noreen care about your masters opinion, they are beneath my concern, and three, if you or your masters knew Odin at all you would know he responds better to positive reinforcement"

Siegward scoffed, turning his chin up at her in contempt. This girl was obviously looking to pick a fight. Well, he wouldn't give her the satisfaction. He sat back down and focused his attention on Odin instead. "Odin...do you really think your parents would just leave you to die? It is this woman," he pointed with his head at Widow, "who is filling your head with lies. She is selfish, only wanting to keep you for herself and not wanting you to be happy with your real parents. I mean, do you really want an aggressive pirate as your mother? Just look at her!" He glared at Widow before looking back at Odin. "Shameful, her behavior right now. Acting out in front of a child. Now what kind of an example is that, I wonder?"
Odin merely stared at the Deku with tears in his eyes before mumbling, "I...I don't know...what...a gresive is..." And he bursted into more tears. "S-stop conf-f-fusing me!" He buried his face in the palms of his hands, just as the boat was jaded into a stop.
"Alright, we're here!" Nasi shouted, tossing down the oar and hopping out onto the dock. The three Dekus followed suit. "And thank goodness too," he added, muttering to himself.
"You guys go on ahead," Qabil said as he got to work tying up the boat.

"I'm not keeping him for myself" widow said "I have a husband, and another adopted kid, were a family, there Is nothing I want more then to see Odin happy" she walked beside Odin, towards the deku palace "there is nothing I want more then to protect Odin, and everything I have done, I have done to protect him, what you mistake as aggression is actually protectiveness. I care nothing for my own happiness, if I did, I would have just grabbed Odin and taken him with me, I wouldn't have given him a choice. you three are so stupid it is an insult to Odin, who is extremely intelligent for a deku his age"

*Jacob enters from The evil duo*
Jacob ran by the riverbank, unsuspectingly running towards the Deku Palace. However, he soon found out he was near the Deku Palace when he saw Widow a few ways off, on the dock near the Deku Palace. However, Jacob didn't know she couldn't see him from her position, so he tried getting her attention with hand motions. When Jacob got tired of waving his arms, he realized Widow couldn't see him. Chances are, Widow is with Odin, and some other people have forcefully taken them here for some reason probably related to Odin because of people related to Odin. As these thoughts swirled through Jacob's head, he crept closer to the dock, making sure nobody at the dock could see him. As he got closer, he noticed Odin and five other Dekus. Jacob figured the three of the unknown Deku who seemed to be standing as a group were the guards, and the other two maintained the boat.
"Looks like I'll have to follow them.....like a ninja."

“Don’t make me whack you in the head with my shield again,” Siegward growled, following closely behind her. The other two walked by her left and right side, ensuring that she would not be running away without a fight. “Because I’ll do it, you know. It’s not as if you yourself are needed h—“ A loud, high-pitched squeal interrupted his threats as he was suddenly knocked off to the side by a blur of leaves. Groaning, he shook his head and struggled to his feet to see what had hit him. The squealing came again and this time he could see that it came from the mistress herself. In just an instant she had scooped Odin off of his feet and into her arms and was now fussing over the little Deku, showering him with kisses and hugs.
“Oh my precious, precious little Deku!” she cooed, rubbing her face against his which caused him to giggle in delight. “Where have you been? Your father and I feared the worst when we saw that you were gone! We even sent three of our best guards to find you and bring you right back home where you belong, safe and sound!” Siegward, Aelfare and Pip all stood up straighter upon hearing the praise.
“Well I was walking and then I went into the woods to play with Duke and then I found a hole and then—“
“That’s great, dear, but you mustn’t do that again,” the motherly Deku interrupted, smoothing back the leaves on his head. “Why, if we were to lose you, it would bring us great sadness!”
“I’m sorry, Mommy…” Lilly finally noticed Widow standing there and put on a smile.
“Ah, you must be the lovely lady that helped bring him back. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to repay your kindness. Thank you so very much.” She turned her back to Widow, still cuddling Odin in her arms. “My guards will show you the way out now.” Odin peered over Lilly’s shoulder, looking at Widow. He looked back at Lilly. Then back at Widow. Then back at Lilly and back at Widow, his happy expression turning into that of worried confusion.
“Alright you, back into the boat we go,” Siegward said, already ushering Widow towards the port.

"Wait wait wait, hold up!" Jacob said, swinging on a vine from a very large tree and landing on the dock. "So, I come here, and ask you to take Odin back, and you say no, but then I see you now, and you're all happy he's here and welcoming him back?" Jacob continued, standing up and fixing his clothes. "I want to know your reason in your change of attitude, miss. And if you lie, or your circus trio makes a move against me, I'm taking you down, no questions asked."
